  1. Demko should be re-signed... he is a great goaltender. Very hard to find goalies of his quality. But he should only be used approx. 45 games per year... maybe a few more, but never in back to back and coaches should make sure he is feeling 100%... if he has any issues, he should be rested. Towards the end of the season he should be rested. Silovs should be his backup and play approx. 35 games. When the team hits the playoffs, Demko should start every game until he is either injured or feels less than 100%.
  2. I think Jennifer is quite good as far as analytics is concerned, but a little bland. Gazdic used to be an enforcer, so you'd think he'd be a little more colourful, but everything he says is par for the course, nothing controversial or innovative. I think Bieksa's vastly longer experience playing gives him a big advantage. He is a great combination of intelligence, experience and the colourful. I think he will end up as an NHL coach if he doesn't get sidetracked by the Media career. Personally I like John Garret more than anyone but Bieksa... yes, he can be a homer, but he knows the game inside and out and has a huge number of anecdotes and stories to tell.
  3. You can see Ron MacLean is pissed Boston is out. Obviously he usually sucks up the Laffs... but Boston is definitely his second choice.
  4. Glad to hear this wasn't political. Gazdic is godawful.
  5. Ugly Boston fans throwing garbage on the ice and at Bobrovsky. Really stupid stuff which reflects badly on their city and their team. No matter what happens in this Canucks run, lets be good fans about the result. No shit on the ice, and no riots.
  6. Why has Kevin Bieksa disappeared from TSN/CBC??? His replacement, Luke Gazdic is the most bland/zero charisma/zero balls commentator I have seen in a long time. I have a feeling there is a political reason behind his removal... unless someone can provide an answer? Suspicious that Gazdic is ex-Oilers.
  7. Mid '70's Canadians were a better overall team. Better defense and goaltending. And that Canadians team still holds the record for the highest points percentage based on their 132 pts from 80 games... .825 record. The only team that comes close in point percentage are the 2022/2023 Bruins, but they had the advantage of getting a lot of OT wins... the Canadians played in the era where a tie is a tie... one point... whereas in the current era with OT wins in the Regular season, there is much more of an opportunity to pick up points. That Canadians team didn't quite have the offensive firepower of the Oilers, but they had probably the best overall defense ever, with guys like Larry Robinson, Guy Lapointe, Serge Savard, etc. They also had Ken Dryden in net... far superior to Grant Fuhr.
  8. Except the player leaving his feet is supposed to be the one initiating the check... facing the opponent and moving... according to another rule. So the Refs decided to select one particular rule which was designed to apply to a player moving towards a target and leaving his feet, and apply it to someone who has his back to the opponent and who is not moving or initiating the check.
  9. Watching the Presser with Miller and Pettersson, its good to see they were not too high on the victory. Maintaining a level keel and not looking too far ahead is crucial in this series. They know the next game is going to be a circus in Edmonton and they will need to play just as well. Listening to Petey, I think he still has this bug... his voice sounds husky and he doesn't look 100%... better than the last presser he did, but still not great. Hopefully he is fully recovered by Saturday.
  10. Unfortunately I expect the Oilers to double down on the dirty play in Game 6. They will be desperate. Kane will likely be headhunting Hughes and any other Canuck D he can get his sights on. Nurse will be slashing and elbowing. So will their 3rd and 4th lines... they haven't been doing much else. Lets just hope the Refs don't embarrass themselves and the League again.
  11. - 3 posts in total on this forum - Says he's not a Tocchet fan - Says the Oilers have better players and goaltending... (WTF? ) - Badmouths Vancouver and says they haven't won anything hmmm.... Could this possibly be a petulant Oilers fan who's whining about the result?
  12. Draisaitl may get moved if they can't sign him.
  13. It was a bullsh*t penalty which they made up on the spot... Foegel was trying to charge EP and had his just deserts given to him. Leaving the feet is intended to stop players who are moving towards a targeted player from jumping at them.... not for someone who is not moving and trying to be defensive.
  14. Your guy did a hell of a job on McDavid tonight and was johnny on the spot when it counted.
  15. Boeser has been playing well defensively all year... and he continued that right into the playoffs. He is a big part of why the Miller line has generally been successful in shutting down McDavid.
  16. If we lose in Edmonton we'll have at least one game. If we win in Edmonton, we'll have at least two games in next series.
  17. What I forgot to mention, was that JT Miller was a monster. Defensively he did everything he could be expected to do to handle McDavid. Offensively of course, he put in the winner.
  18. What I saw tonight was a far better balanced set of lines and a better team. They were generating shots, playing in the Edmonton D-Zone and pressuring. The shots were 35-23... the opposite of what we have been seeing in the previous 4 games. I think putting Pettersson with Lindholm was a big success... no, that line didn't get any goals, but they did dominate the opposition in possession and had a lot of good scoring chances. And I think we may have found the 4th line... Podkolzin, Aman and Di Giuseppe were excellent and completely outplayed their opponents. Aman also has been a big part of the PK turnaround. I think they have to go with the same lineup for next game.
  19. Poor reffing. Should have called the stick hold by Jannmarck, didn't then Myers gets frustrated, so Ref backtracks and gives them both penalties. If he'd called the first penalty when he should have, Myers would not have been upset. Just cra*p.
  20. Did anyone really think the Refs wouldn't have their greasy fingers all over this game???? Suter did not deliberately hit Pickard and the contact was minimal. BUT... penalty. The fix is in.
  21. No surprise. Rangers are the better team... much superior goaltending... better overall defense. I just want to see Bruins and Panthers go to 7 games... and the winner come out banged up.
  22. My Prediction: If the Canucks win, the League will try to find someone to suspend from the Canucks for doing something.
  23. This game is obviously crucial. But one thing I will say... I think Knobhead has made a serious mistake in going with Pickard again. He won the last game, but was not seriously tested till the 3rd. HIs rebound control and puck awareness is not great. I think the Canucks will roast him.
  24. I agree he deliberately brought his leg up... and there can be only one reason to do that, which is to get your skate blade near Z's face.
