  1. Garland is the playmaker definitely... but he gets the room he does because of Joshua. And both Joshua and Garland are the puck retrievers... they usually tag team the opposing D and pressure them. Blueger is the safety valve.... he covers high and prevents the line from getting over committed.
  2. Mikheyev has been a disappointment.... except when he was on the line with Petey and Kuzzy at the start of the season. That line tore it up... Petey was top of the points list. But Tocchet was pissed cause Kuzzy wasn't playing enough defense, so he broke the line up and since then Mikheyev has been nowhere re. goal production.
  3. Mikheyev is not a finisher like Kuzmenko. But the way Tocchet thinks, he prefers low goals, decent defence than high goals, questionable defence. Personally I think you can teach anyone to play defense if you have patience.
  4. Think Pettersson deflected that one. But he probably didn't mention it because he wants to get Big Z going.
  5. Demko at his best with that save. Doing the splits to get a toe on it and then while still in the postion, reactions sharp enough to juggle the puck and catch it.
  6. I agree with the consensus... Juulsen has hugely improved this year. Too bad he was a bigger guy physically... he would be a demon. He does need to be careful he doesn't wear out the body with too many full bore hits.
  7. How many NHL allstars are on Pettersson's line? Don't count Boeser and Miller, cause they only played with him for a fraction of the season. By the way, Brad Marchand is a star.... as much as we might hate him.
  8. The original poster should be given credit for being objective and basing his analysis on facts. Overall, if you look at the data he has presented is accurate. These two players are relatively the same in terms of point generation. However, strictly based on the data, Pastrnak is probably more valuable because he is a goalscorer... goalscorers always get paid more... Matthews is an example. On that basis you could then assume Pettersson is worth less. However there is another factor which hasn't been noted: Pettersson is two years younger than Pastrnak. Pastrnak is 27, typically most players peak between 27-30... then starting to decline. Pettersson is 25, and therefore just coming into his peak performance years... but he is equaling Pastrnak's point production now... leaving the possibility he'll pass him in production in a couple years and continue to produce longer into an 8 year contract. When you consider this age, then the fact Pastrnak scores more goals becomes less of a factor... although still very important. Overall, the two players are very close in value, but I would still put Pasta slightly ahead of Petey... because of the goal scoring. I personally think Pettersson should be offered, and sign for 10.75 mil per year for 9 years... or 11.25 mil for 6 years.
  9. Yeah compared to last game when he had a goal and two assists. Today he was only +1. Seems some have short memories
  10. Vegas and the Oilers are both playing red hot hockey.... but they can't catch the Canucks who are hammering down the results game after game.
  11. All the constipated whiners can go home and sit on the john and think about something they can complain about next game.
  12. Can't believe the Leafs team and coach whining in the forums about how Reilly was a good player and how anyone would have reacted the same way. All of them justifying a vicious cross check for the crime of shooting a puck into an empty net. What a bunch of entitled, spoiled, immature bozos. The real problem is the Leafs player egos are too fragile to accept they are a mediocre team. I am quite sure however, that all the whining will result in Reilly getting fewer games than he deserves... Just imagine if he gets less than Zadorov...
  13. Garland is not that much over-valued... he is probably work 4 million. He is the guy who makes that 3rd line go, along with Joshua. He is the playmaker, Joshua is the triggerman. Blueger is replaceable. He is not quite a top six player, but he is close... and so when he plays on a third line, he can really drive the play against weaker opposing lines. Anyway, its not something Canucks management will do something about this season. (baring another blockbuster trade for a top sixer, but I think the piggybank is empty) This summer a decision will be made about Garland, Mikheyev, Pettersson and lots of others. It will be a big decision time. But right now, if the Canucks are serious about a Cup run, they will keep Garland around and not mess with the third line... they have something special there.
  14. Yes, but the question has to be asked: "How is his line going?" And unfortunately it is not going at all. In my opinion the problem with Lindholm on the Miller line comes down to speed. The line already has Boeser, who tries, but despite improvements over last year, is still slow. So that leaves only Miller to retrieve pucks and be the lead forechecker. Which doesn't cut it in the league today... with defensemen focusing on moving the puck quickly and goalies helping out. You need some speed in the forecheck... you need a pair of forecheckers pressuring. I think Lindholm would be better on Pettersson's line and Suter moved back to join Miller and Boes. Suter has decent speed. Miller/Boes/Suter had decent success. Petey is relatively fast, (doesn't accelerate fast, but has a high top speed given the opportunity to start in his own end) and Hoogs is fast. These guys can pressure on their line...that leaves the slower Lindholm as the trailer and the defensive minder... which Lindholm does well.
  15. Yeah, just like the play which set up Hoogs goal.... Petey under pressure draws 3 Caps to him and slips a pass to Hoogs who then has a direct line to the net. Real panic under pressure.
  16. By the way all those morons who complain about Petey being lazy.... it was his pressure on the low Caps player which hurried his pass and made it a giveway which won the game.
