Have to admit, the Oilers have an extra gear that other teams don't. If they win, it will be interesting to see if the Panthers D can do a better job neutralizing that in their own zone.
McDavid and Draisaitl have the extra gear... .the rest of the team jumps on their back.

Skinner gives up rebounds from nearly every shot... Dallas is just not getting it done and getting on the rebounds... or they are missing their chances.

I think Dallas forwards are too soft.
Florida forwards will challenge Edm more.
I agree... Florida is much more physical...
But... Edmonton's defense is bigger than Dallas. If they can continue to play well and avoid mistakes, they will be tough to intimidate.
Guys like Kane could also be a factor... Tkachuk and Bennett are 'pretend' tough... Kane is 'Real' tough... If Bennett starts running around I could see Kane laying down the law. Kane was a non-factor in the Canucks series because he knew Big Z would kick his a$$ if he tried anything... I don't see anyone comparable to Z on Florida.

Commentators on US channels mention the Canucks D and the assigned checkers pressed Edmonton and McDavid far more effectively than Dallas has been.
Gave him far less room, always someone on him... (Miller most of the time)
Dallas has not been physical enough... it has not been a physical series.
If you let the Oilers skate unhampered, they will slice and dice you.
What I am seeing is a series where the 1st period has been Edmonton's to exploit... in the Canuck series, there were a couple games like that, but there were also a couple games when they were effective.
All in all, I think the way Dallas has played this series reflects well on the Canucks... considering Demko's absence, Pettersson 's less than 100% effectiveness, and Boeser missing the final game.
Oettinger has not been a difference maker in this series... unlike the previous series vs Vegas and Colorado... he was very good in those. I think Silovs played better vs the Oilers.
And Skinner has just not been pressed by the Stars... the Canucks didn't get many shots, but they did take advantage of their chances much better than Dallas.
I will be very surprised if Dallas comes back.

I'm just going by what I saw what happened.
You mean his 89 point season? Or the injury hampered playoff?
To get 89 points from a 7.35 mil player is exceptional value.
Especially one who is predominantly playing with 4th liners after the first 20 games.

It does matter, but not as much as people might think.

Can I ask you something I've been thinking of, what if Petie turns out to be an 80 point guy for the next 5 years. And maybe he finds his stride again for a couple of 100 point seasons.
Does that contract hold up?
WHAT IF.... WHAT IF.... WHAT IF....
Maybe time for you to wait and see what happens.

Bennett has arrived as the force that Calgary hoped he would become. He has been awesome in these playoffs. Dirty, though.
Yes, when he arrived as a new draftee, he was one of the weakest players on Calgary.
But he really focused on his strength training.
He is not a big guy, at 6' 1" and 195, but a lot of that is muscle.
Some guys who put on a lot of extra muscle lose speed and dexterity, but he doesn't seem to have that problem.

Let's see my list would be, in no particular order.
Reinhart
Tarasenko
Montour
Lomberg
Kulikov
Stolarz
Tarasenko will be available, but he's probably not really worth it.
I doubt Reinhart is available... he will probably take a discount to stay with that team.

Barkov has to be considered one of the favourites to win the Conn Smythe at this point... although Tkachuk has more points.
Forsling also is having a tremendous playoffs... just playing exceptionally. Last year it was Brandon Montour who stood out, but not this year.
-
Paul Maurice has shown he is a great coach... Jets should never have let him go.
Panthers have to be a favourite for the Cup... last year they were really beat up... ton of injuries, this year they seem to be generally healthy.
Goalie Bob was not dominant, but he didn't have to be... Panthers defense played extremely well... moved the puck fast and got it out of the D zone quickly.
The best way to beat the Panthers is to hit their D... besides Ekblad, they are not big. You have to be right on top of them.
Rangers did not do that... and their Powerplay was weak, and 5 on 5 their Zibanejad/Kreider line was a non-factor.
Shesterkin played well, but he didn't get the support he needed.

Watching the Sedins get speed bagged in the finals doesn't make me love the lady bing.
Gretzky won Lady Byng five times.
Mike Bossy won it three times.
Ron Francis won it three times.
Pavel Datsyuk won it four times.
Martin St Louis won it three times.
Bobby Hull won it.
Stan Mikita won it twice.
Dave Keon won it twice.
I could go on... all the above were Stanley Cup Champs.

Do we have to take Kotkaniemi?
Kotkaniemi could live up to his potential... he is still just a kid... big, strong and skilled.
Right now he is not playing up to potential... but Mikheyev isn't either and I am not sure Mik comes back hot next season.

The good news about this series, is that the Canucks, missing Demko and with Pettersson not at 100%, gave the Oilers more trouble than Dallas has so far.
Bodes well for next season, assuming Demko comes back healthy and they don't overplay him again... and assuming management finds a top sixer for Pettersson to play with.

I know a lot of people on this forum hate the Oilers... I am not a fan... but you do need to give credit where credit is due.
They are performing as they should... their big guys are improving on their regular season play, especially Evan Bouchard... and the rest of the team is playing well defensively. Skinner... not so much. He is just his usual floppy, streaky self... a good team would take advantage of that.
But... Dallas is not playing up to their regular season level. They are not forechecking, they are not using their speed, they are not generating shots and they are not scoring.
So many talented scorers on Dallas... they have great depth... but for some reason they are all simultaneously choking.
I don't believe Skinner is doing anything special... the saves I see from him are a result of the Dallas players shooting the puck directly at him... or more often, missing the net.
I still think Dallas is overall the better balanced team... but doesn't matter how balanced you are, if you have no jump and you miss your opportunities, you don't win.
But Dallas has overcome adversity in the 1st and 2nd rounds, so they can overcome this situation. But they need to get a LOT more jump and their shooters need to bear down.
I don't care that much who advances... but I'd prefer to see the Western Conference team beat the East.

Rangers are overall the bigger team, with the exception of Barkov at 215, Tkachuk at 206 and Ekblad at 215 most of the Florida team is under or at 200 lbs. Most of their defense are on the small side, their most physical forward, Bennett is 6'1" 195.
Yet the Panthers hit far more effectively and have been much more physical in the series.
The only way you beat this Florida team is by hitting their small defense... last year Vegas dismantled them... but New York does not seem interested in playing physical.
With the exception of Lafreniere and Trouba, the Ranger team seems disinterested.
They will need to change their game if they want to win this series.

I don't buy the good line mates thing. Anyone who can play shows it in their own right. So you get tightly checked 5 on 5 yes, but there are opportunities to score with a little Sedinery. One top shelf every 3 games is too much to ask for? Even with all the pp time? I noticed Draisaitl likes to shoot from the same spot deep RW.
Drai has 9 g in 15 playoff games
EP has 1 g in 13 playoff games
Is the knee really that connected to the wrists? There is no linemate involved in helping you shoot.
ps following my one goal every 3 game logic, would 3 more Petie goals in the playoffs have helped us that much?
Draisaitl played either with McDavid and Hyman on his line or with Kane and Nugent-Hopkins... all of them are top six.
Pettersson had no one like that playing with him till the two final games of the Edmonton series.
Second, you clearly don't play hockey... because the power of a shot comes from the legs and their motion... anyone who has trained their shooting skills knows that. With no good knee to brace the leg muscles, his shot was impacted.

Tocchet is tough, really tough, and Petey is not. Two very different players, almost complete opposites I would think. Tocchet wants his players to play tough, be tough and win a championship. That's what it takes.
Petey is using a knee owey as an excuse for his poor play. Tocchet probably said "suck it up" and Petey went into sulk mode. If I were Petey, I'd take some of that $90 million the Canucks are going to give him, and hire a team of tough trainers to whip him into shape.
Your whole post is complete speculation and based on zero facts.
Pettersson has shown throughout his career that he is elite, and driven to excel.
He is an example of the top tier of professional athletes.
Players like that do not 'sulk' or tell lies about injuries. They do not have that in their DNA or they would not have achieved their results and performance.
We have a bunch of probable fat couch potatoes sitting back in the comfort of their living room and spewing garbage... based on nothing. They have no understanding of what is required to be a professional athlete.

Bottom six, for sure! Top six...no way!
He has put up top six numbers for several seasons... except this last one when he was injured.
He looked pretty good in playoffs coming back after the injury.
As I said... all depends on (a) him checking out medically, (b) getting him on a discount.

Recommend these two sources for those who want objective and thorough examination of the battlefield situation:
Denys Davydov gives daily updates. He is very objective even though he is a Ukrainian citizen... he will report setbacks for Ukraine... includes political commentary too... he was really pissed about the Republicans holding up the Military Aid package and how much damage it did to the Ukrainian forces... and how much it handicapped them.
https://www.youtube.com/@DenysDavydov
The following blogger is also Ukranian ...a little more fervent in his support for the Ukrainian forces, but still quite accurate.
If you want full reality check of how deadly the experience of the ordinary Russian soldier is... as they are committed in the 'Meat Wave' attacks by the un-caring Russian high command, watch this video created by a former Chinese People Liberation Army soldier who was recruited as paid Mercenary to fight for Russia...

If the Oilers advance, lets see how he does vs Florida.
That will be his kind of series.
