  1. Hey guys, the SPCA is asking people to call in if you see animals left outside in the extreme cold. Also, be mindful of the salt/cold on your dog's pads when out for walks...can be damaging. We have feral cats down the road....shelters are easy to make out of rubbermaid totes with lids....there are instructions online. I just fed the birds here...they also really need water when everything freezes...if you get a chance, put some out for the critters (obviously it'll freeze pretty quickly). Just finished my makeshift bird shelter #1. Made one last year and it was heavily used. I use whatever I have in the house....old coffee tins, insulated lunch bags, etc. This one I had an old faux fur hood trim so that's the interior...deluxe model! The next one will have paper bunny bedding. If you get a chance to do something to help our animal friends, please do. But also...the homeless people out there too! This is brutal weather and no living creature should suffer out there in the elements.
  2. I'm making bird shelter/houses our of coffee cans while I watch the game. Made one last year, hung it at my back porch light and it was used (heavily) in the cold snap. Making a much better design this year (x 2). Poor guys out there. I worry about the animals and the homeless people in this weather.
  3. Been there, done that. Snowmobiling along the Alaska with drunk Uncle Chuck. 40 below and he thought bringing rum was a good emergency kit. Flipped the damn thing on a hill and I had to dig myself out of the snow from underneath it. Good times.
  4. He REFUSES a cell phone. Yep, sure am. He got mad Thursday night..."quit phoning me, I'm trying to sleep". His phone is with Shaw so it all goes at once...but at least I get a message stating he's "not available". My signal to go check in on him.

    See Ya

Yes. I believe there are 3 people still there (me being one of them). It's a sad state of affairs.
