I don't agree with this. At all. Sure, players go into board battles together and try to gain position. But the stick between the legs like this is to take someone out and is dangerous, not to out position them. I watch every game and I don't see can openers happening often.

Hmmm, I don't know about that. It's Marchand now a guy's out because of him. Not with a good solid check, but this. I think Marchand gave up the right to plead innocent long ago.

Can openers are pretty intentional, orchestrated moves. This isn't just "battling"...it's trying to take an opponent out of that battle using a dangerous move. You won't convince me that it wasn't intentional or just "jostling for body position". Just like a lick of the face, Marchand doesn't follow rules. He likes to dance around them in a cocky way that shows no respect for his opponents. He crosses lines.

In a fair league that applies things consistently? Sure. But come on. We've just had discussions recently about how the refs store info from previous games to apply them in the here and now. How history comes into play. Repeat offenders who continue to play a reckless, dangerous, dirty game deserve more. It's not like he doesn't know better (or what he's doing). He tries to be sneaky.

You could've called me for back up. Not my proudest moment. LIES: it was! I actually DID pepper a team with pucks once at 8 rinks...was scorekeeping a final game and it ended in a bench brawl. As my boyfriend (5'10" 160 lbs) was targetted for scoring a hat trick and the losing team sicked their big dog on him, there was an ice cream bucket of pucks at my feet. So..... It was hilarious...I was bouncing them off guy's helmets. What a gong show that game was...two teams that hated each other. LOL...we went up to the bar to shoot pool afterward and the team named me first star. Apparently they still laugh about it.

Yeah, although Demko was clearly upset and wanted the shut out it would've been pretty petty to argue it. I actually felt happy that their crowd got to cheer for a goal (especially the kids there).
