I get great satisfaction out of reminding those who said he was a cancer in the room of how wrong they were/are.
When a player plays with heart, it's sometimes worn on the sleeve and you'll see it out on the ice - both good and bad. But with JT, the good was so strong that the bad wasn't really anything more than people drama seeking. Watching for things.
I'm so glad he proved the naysayers wrong. Just like people did with Burr, Bieksa, then JT....those players are heart and soul team players and many would've gotten rid of them but not this gal.

I read this yesterday....it's interesting to me to learn about some of the family dynamics.
I loved Bure....he was some kind of special. You just held your breath when he got the puck on his stick...electrifying. Some great memories.

What's kind of sad is Olivia McDonald had a brief intro on Instagram from the Canucks.
And all I saw (because she was wearing a white blazer) was comments how she stole Elizabeth Irving's jacket.
Welcome to Vancouver. Yikes.
So sad that people enjoy being harsh rather than kind. What ever happened to "welcome, best of luck"?

For the love of God, PLEASE PLEASE USE LOGIC!
Let's say you're a realtor yourself selling homes worth millions easily.... would you be dumb enough to set up a troll account that's remotely connected to your own name?? yes or no?
I was merely saying, unless you got 100% proof that realtor was realy behind the sexist comments, it simply wasn't cool to assume... that is all!! it could've very well been a competitor in real estate... ever thought of that?
No one said he created or was connected to the supposed troll account. But when someone verbally attacks someone else....they have no reason to assume it's not the person as presented. If someone else was using their (the realtor's) identity wouldn't you expect them to have reported/addressed it? Or to at least understand why she confronted the person.
I don't think many people would just "assume" it's not the real person on the account. So she addressed it...there was no way for her to know it wasn't the person in question.
That's logical.

Thing is, I feel strongly about this because women are shot down too easily. Targets.
An example for me is Taylor Swift at Chiefs games. So what? Have fun with it, she's there supporting her man. If they show his mom...no problem. So why the vitriol aimed at her from some?? Sure, it's overkill at times (not really though), but she's one of the world's biggest stars so of course she's going to get attention wherever she goes. Doesn't make her a bad person.
I saw pictures of her at the opening game and comments like "she looks like a whore" were posted. So much hatred. It's really small men who feel threatened by women in sports. The ones I know embrace it/them...it's refreshing to get different takes than the ol' boys club regurgitations all the time. And women can have just as much insight/knowledge as their male counterparts. Sometimes even more, as the guys who've been around awhile can have bias and tunnel vision.
Women can dress however they want - you cannot assign labels to them based on their choice of clothing. It's truly sad that some men are still stuck on these horrible ideas that a woman is a "whore" because she wears shorts and boots. So what do man whores wear then? How can we spot them?

2 hours ago, Honkin Hronek said:It has to do with religion, IMO. Conservatism is rooted in traditional values which makes it really appealing to people who are especially religious. However, that means that they use religion to reinforce their beliefs. This means that there's usually no room for compromise, because they literally see it as the devil trying to tempt them away from the path of God.
For example, most Catholics don't have an issue with gay people because they believe God doesn't make mistakes. However, they believe that it's "giving into lust" if you decide to date, sleep with, or marry another gay individual. To counter that, throughout history they've urged thousands of gay Catholics to become priests and nuns (which left many of them sexually inept, contributing to them praying on young kids of the same sex throughout time, leading to the present-day memes about priests). They "love" gay people as they do their neighbour, but they don't see gay love as real "love," and the consequence of not following their beliefs is an eternity in hell.
I know to you and I it may seem archaic and silly, but these people grow up fearing God (literal wording in a lot of text/teachings). In their doctrine, they're told over and over again that they have to dedicate their entire lives to living for Him, and failure to do so results in complete pain and suffering. The devil is always trying to trick you, including by possessing other individuals with "unnatural urges." It's your duty to save them if you see the devil at work, and if you're told this enough then eventually you'll believe it.
[Source: a significant amount of research into Catholicism as my girlfriends family is Catholic, including attending a conference back in May]
There's also a lack of interest in real dialogue between the left and right. People are so dead-set in what they believe that they go into conversations looking to change each others mind but that isn't productive. In the end it just results to name-calling and a reinforced belief that the other side is stupid. If you want to have a good conversation, you and the other side MUST come to the conclusion that there is NO RIGHT ANSWER to most topics, that your beliefs have flaws, and you MUST be willing to discuss them without assuming differing ideas are character assassinations.
The problem with religion (for me) is....people use it to enforce their views/opinion but all too often they don't live by them. So they don't practice what they preach.
Religion is also often exploited as a way to gain wealth and power. Those two things that create imbalance and conflict.

Hmmm... a bit of a surprise as she was always so upbeat on TV.... but I always had this cringey feeling from her but can't explain why...
Then earlier this year she made a big deal out of some troll's comments and was quick to accuse this reatlor... I mean, come on..... I know every public figure is hungry for attention but just the way how she tried so hard to play victim and unreservedly blamed this realtor guy was a bit much!! We all know what reputation means for a realtor and that little drama could have cost the guy's livelihood...
Anyhow.. best of luck to her... she's better off working in Vegas!!
So a "realtor" can throw shade at her but she can't respond?
She didn't really try hard to play victim, she put it out there. Women in sports have to put up with BS like that "only fans" spewed garbage and it needs to stop. Women are more than the misogynists try to sell. If you don't want someone to respond, don't give them reason to. Some of us feel it's good to expose that crap rather than let it slide through.
Maybe realtor guy shouldn't spout off negatively and should be more mindful of his attacks because, as I recall, he started it. So his reputation was something he should have also considered when putting others down.
And I do understand that the realtor in question said this was a troll account but why was it active then? Did he not report it? And, if it wasn't him then no problem - she had every right to address the comments made about her, no matter who was behind them. So he can just save his reputation by claiming it wasn't him and all's good. Not her fault that she didn't know.
The Canucks better brace themselves because SM is full of drama and that likely wasn't a one off. If they're trying to prevent it...good luck with that.

Stanbeck had a beast of a game...something to prove stuff.
They never were behind in the game and kept pushing. A few picks but they were mostly deflections and the Al's were in the right place at the right time.
I don't believe the fumble that was overruled (originally called no fumble) was actually a fumble. He was down/ground caused it. I think the officials were influenced by the Als coaching staff yapping at them to some degree.
Rourke's in great form, his TD where they were going for short yardage and he busted loose was a good indicator of that. Quick decision making. Follow up to Mackie's awesome TD.
We're back, heading in the right direction!

Me too! My son laughs at me because every now and then I'll buy myself 10 packs and have a night rippin packs. I love it.
Cheers!

Darcy Rota gave me a thumbs up and a smile for wearing a flying V jersey to a game, and I still think about that moment.
This picture of Burr. I was with a friend who'd been to many games down on the glass (at the Zamboni entrance), she also knew Burr. It was my first time sitting there, so up close and personal.
Like a noob, I put my water bottle, camera, etc. up on the edge/glass in front of me as I was getting settled. She'd noticed Burr watching me do it (during warm ups) and clicked this picture RIGHT BEFORE the bugger blasted a slapshot at me, knocking all my stuff off! Live and learn, didn't do that again.
He skated by with a cheeky smile and we've been secret BFF's ever since. He showed up at my daughter's workplace and she taught him and his daughter how to make a beaded necklace.
