  1. We can kick Calgary and the Oilers BOTH in the groin with a win tonight. My Flames friend'll be texting me with his silly comments and it'll shut him up too. I hope Petey busts one open as it'll go a long way toward helping his confidence. I believe his mental game is his biggest hurdle right now because he's hard on himself and is likely overthinking things. His reluctance to shoot at times really hints at that to me. He's still been contributing but not the way we need him to (on the scoresheet). Clobber everyone, JT. Let's go, big game....getting playoff ready!
  2. Well at least I didn't lose too much ground. Canucks win 5-2 Miller gwg Petey last goal
  3. Av's in their last 10: 4-5-1 Teams get hot and cold....I like our team because they've been fairly consistent (see above).
  4. Sending healing thoughts his way. I know it was really tough on me. People challenge me on why I still wear a mask (like it's any of their business). One reason and one only - my family. My Dad's stayed in his house since COVID started and I do all his shopping, errands, etc. He's ok that way....he's an outdoors type and has a yard and garden so that keeps him sane. But he hasn't had COVID (knocking on wood) mostly because we've worked very hard to keep it from him. He's in his late 80's and has battled cancer so it's just not worth the risk. THAT'S why I wear a mask...because I care for him and anything I pick up may be sent his way. And all the sneers in the world don't matter to me. He/my family matters to me.
  5. So goaltenders do matter? Last game Demko wouldn't have made the difference because he doesn't score goals. What he DOES do though is exactly what you're crediting CD with here. So let's be consistent in that application. Demko can also help the team's overall confidence out there and our losses may not have been so, despite him not being a goal scorer. I think if we're crediting CD with that one and shutting the door we have to assume Demko may have also in games that he was absent for too.
  6. I think it was the game before. (He's probably at 500 now)
  7. One thing I'm hearing is that we're too "this or that". (Confident, getting ahead of ourselves, "cocky"). Not just here....out there. For me, I know how difficult this is. I've seen playoffs where we came within a game of it all. How it can just be ripped away at any second. What it's taught me is to enjoy the ride. I don't look back on '94 and 2011 as bad memories....they aren't for me. I had a great (bleepin) time and that's what I remember. The feeling. The electricity in the city. The car flags and the honking. People in the streets (like 2010). Immediately following the loss in '94 they had a fan appreciation event at BC Place...it was wild. It felt like we'd won, and that's ok. We celebrated our team and despite not being awarded the cup, they were champions to us and we had a great time that day. Lemonade. So whatever happens, it's all out of our control but that doesn't mean we can't be excited. Even celebrate the small victories along the way (like sweeping the Oilers this season...keeping them in check) ...even if we don't get the end result that we'd like, this has been a great year. Sky's the limit is what I've been saying. Right now, it's as much a "who knows" as the teams being penciled in by some. It's ok to feel good about it all rather than dwelling on what might be and a negative spin. At exactly this time last year we were officially.....out. So let's party while we can, shall we?
  8. Those who refer to McDavid's absence.....will have a point but it also points to the fact that they're very much reliant on him and individuals don't win games, teams do. Draisaitl was a non factor without his ride or die. We're "missing" Petey from the scoresheet and our #1 goaltender. But the team is stepping up and different people are contributing. Matters. Oilers have 2 losses in a row....4 of 7 in April. They're a McDavid away from being quite average at best.
  9. Evander Kane is the name And I played in the Oilers game 'Till Soucy's cavalry came And tore up the ice again In the winter of '23 We were hungry but they beat us all 3 April, and Richmond's cowbell Was a sound I remembered, oh so well The night they drove us out of town The cowbells were ringing The night they knocked Evander down And all the people were singing They went, "Na, na, la, na, na, la
  10. Thing is, Demko likes to play and is our #1 so there's a fine line between giving him the net and allowing him to rest. I don't know that we have a whole lot to b about in regard to goaltending and how that's handled.
  11. Which is when Clark comes in and takes over with them. Then they come back and are stellar.
  12. Or all of the above (don't give them ideas....) I do get being measured and not getting too ahead of ourselves. But dammit, we've earned the right to have fun at this time of the year and just follow this team wherever they lead us. The funny thing is....the wet blanket crew who have us pegged as this or that? ONE TEAM will win it all so rather than acting like rocket appliances and telling us this team WON'T win, I'd like them to nail the team that will. That'd be much more impressive. One team, not a list of teams (that doesn't factor this one in). Any team that gets in, gets hot, stays healthy and has great goaltending. Momentum. Matters. You can only predict things so much and the rest is guesswork and ... fate. LET'S GO CANUCKS....CAR FLAGS READY TO ACTIVATE.
  13. I'm glad you said this. Zads carried the puck in on one occasion and I thought just that. He was pretty smooth and moved it in with speed. That's like a freight train coming at you....I really hope we find a way to keep him. I'd hate to lose what he brings to this team.
