  1. The advantage of keeping Hronek for 1 year would obviously be they think Tom will be ready in another year... it's a gamble, would keep money around instead of the big numbers being thrown around. If they trade Hronek, they have to find another RHD instead, and if the keep him ($8M), somebody else gives it up... And yes I also expect Myers on a 2-3 year deal to give Willander extra time to develop, but again it depends on the numbers...
  2. Yes meaning trade him. I seem to remember Garland being tried in the top 2 lines plenty times before with limited success, which was one of the reasons he is on the 3rd line in the first place... If he doesn't fit on the top 2 lines, there will never be a better time to trade him and get a good return, if they are looking for a top scoring winger for Petey? The Garland - Petey - Hogs looks like a line that will be taking a fair beating, good or not... Lindholm together with Petey and Garland looks better, but it depends on whether they think Garland and Petey clicks and Garland scores enough. In the end it's about numbers... and somethings have to give. Can't afford all the goodies we have at the moment with pay rises, without there being sacrifices... If they are looking for a scoring winger for Petey, money needs to be found somewhere... I think, they'd be after Lindholm to centre a line with Petey on his wing.
  3. True, though Garlands value has probably never been higher than it is now, so they might be able to use him and his cap hit to open up for another top 6 winger...?
  4. Nicely set up @R3aL I think getting rid of Mika is of massive priority, as they need his cap hit to make the other signing possible... Also think that Myers maybe comes together with Hronek... If Hronek gets shifted, Myers would likely stay so we at least have 1 top 4 RHD... Finally, wonder if they just sign Hronek to his qualifying offer or slightly above on a one year show me deal... They risk him walking, but that would be an easier way to make the numbers work next season...?
  5. Would be nice to get the PP clicking a little better, but any PP can be stifled... even the much talked about Oilers PP got almost shut down, by our PK... Nevertheless also think the should get a specialist PP coach in, if such a guy exists... Can't go all the way unless you seize your opportunities and advantages....
  6. Lets hope he learns...? He was just voted the best coach in the NHL by a land slide... I think he is doing just fine, but that's just me of course
  7. Fist thing I though about as well... big shoes to fill, but I'm sure, he has it in him to do so... especially with JR/PA singing from the same hymn sheet... its just like in total harmony...
  8. Just typical Tocchet... First thing he says is its an organisational award. fantastic coaches and players buying into it... play for crest and the fans will follow... Its not about him... Man, Tocchet.is just so loveable...
  9. He was a revelation on the bench, and did fabulously. I think inside, he probably started to see the faces of some of the snakes, when it comes to Canucks. But yes fronted the coaching staff very well in the media, and they would have loved him for that. And so did I... no drama or none stop moaning. Suck it up and carry on.
  10. Yes, I wiuld be apprehensive to give him $6M per year on a long contract, but at the same time I think $4-5M could be in the ball park for a longer deal (5-6 years)... if they could swing a 4 year deal at these numbers, it would be ideal... I have a feeling he wants to stay here... Joshua too... the way Garland spoke, suggests the players are starting to become a close nit group, and I remember Burrows, Hansen etc all taking fair deals to stay. Also remember Edler and Bieksa almost getting lynched for wanting fair deals. So yes if they really want to stay, they may sign better deals. If not, they will be history... Horvat can confirm this... One of the reason why Lindholm may be history, unfortunately.
  11. Me too... i suggested that either Hronek or Myers may be history, if they were going to cone in at the reported $8M and $4M respectively. We could end up in a scenario though, where Hronek will be signed to a 1 year qualifying deal as cheap as possible and then let go next off season. That would keep the costs down and maybe let us keep both. But yes $2M+ is unlikely...
  12. So well deserved... Tocchet turned this team into winners and and the future looks great.... He has been a great addition. Huge thanks to JR and PA for bringing him in. He was exactly, what our core was needing.
  13. Stamkos to play with Petey.... drool... sign me up.
  14. There will be changes, but how much is the question with the OEL penalty... Hopefully Lekki will be a deadly sniper, and Hogs continues to develop (Hogs is still a young gun, and should get better)... We have the same problems every other team has... there will almost always be holes or lack of back up players... To win is not just about having the best players (although it helps), but the team, which players are in form, and stays healthy... This play offs was as much about evaluating our players (core and supporting cast), so they can make some adjustments for their next go at it... How much they'll go for it next year remains to be seen, but part of it will be building for 3 years from now, when Petey and QH are in their prime, Brock too, and then with good cheaper contracts to Lekki, Tom etc... to support the top players... I have no idea, what happened to Petey, but it seemed to start well before the playoffs... I do know though, he has shown how good he can be, so I have fun confidence in him leading the charge again next year... Or at least that how I see it... will it be enough to bring us a cup? Over to you JR/PA, as you know, what it take better than anyone here....
  15. We've been desperate for a d like Z forever...We'll regret not resigning him... Soucy will leave in 2 years or earlier if D Petey is ready and Z will be playing 2nd D with Tom in a year and for a few years to come...
  16. Absolutely right... The last 6-8 years, as far as I remember, we have had the discussion of us having problems being cap compliant at the start of the seasons, and despite all the tears, we always ended up being cap compliant.... Now if Benning and his circus could manage that, I am sure the biggest front office in the NHL can do so too.... I have zero worries about that. They are always a step ahead of us the ordinary punters...
  17. Hronek could be traded as well... perhaps in a trade to get rid of Mika?
  18. Yeah the Garland and Mika contract doesn't expire until a year after the OEL $5M cap penalty starts... so they need to find a way to rid themselves of some contracts... Expect Myers or Hronek (trade) to go Cole, DeSmith, Lafferty, Friedman, and then the big questions? what does Lindholm, Joshua and Zad want... and what will another RHD cost... If they keep both Myers and Hronek, bye bye to Lindholm and either Zad or Joshua... (because we have to be cap compliant in another year with the big cap penalty). Soucy goes in 2 years to be replaced by D-Petey... or another D from The year after money needs to be available to extend Boeser (if that is their intentions), so that will have to be included in their plans going forward 2 years from now Garland and Mika (if either is still here) will leave and then money will be available to extend Demko and Hughes... and then the Cap penalty goes to $2M , and we are through the hardship...
  19. If they need to find a trade partner, the interest in Garland will never have been bigger... 12 months ago we would have to add sweeteners to get rid of him... Not any more... So yes, you could very well be right...
  20. Interesting, but why would Sens do this? Also, don't think you'll get Lindy or Hronek for that cap. Maybe not Joshua, Bluger or Zad neither... But interesting.
