Not to be contradictory... but Zad is the type of D we've been screaming for like forever... he does, what we thought Myers was going to do, when we signed him 6 years ago. He is basically Trym+ so to just let him walk into free agency would be nothing short of criminal depending on the price of course.

Nice write up... I think the last couple of lines is something not mentioned enough. His ability to not lose the focus by being drawn into slagging off matches with the referees was amazing... and I'm sure it will stand him and the franchise in good stead going forward...

I think the team ran out of steam... and maybe a little belief with the Brock news... They did very well, but there is still a few steps that needs to taken before we are a true contender. Atm we are a play offs team, but we need everyone of our top players to play like top players to be a contender. Nevertheless it was a great run, and it will have done the players a world of good to get to the play offs. Expect them to be a better tram next time around.

Yes, its the fact we need to move $ to make room for him, and getting rid of Mika would cost us... In order to get rid of Mika, we'll need to add something another team could use.. a 1st + a restricted free agent for another year, could be what is needed... I don't really know what else we can add to Mikas contract to off lot him... It's actually disappointing as he was decent infant of the net last season.... But he totally lost his mojo now. I don't have an issue with Hronek, but if he wants $8M as reported, then I think he'll be treated like Horvat... Its all about numbers $$$...

They definitely brought in a lot of people to the management team, so all angles could/should be covered... Most important part now, is to figure out, which is the best forward to improve the team... That will be the big debate these coming months...

Yes agree, for some of the players it will be a max of 3-4 years, but I think, if (and as always that is a big ask) Tom and Jonathan full fills their potential we will cover the loss of expensive contracts... Some wheeling and dealing will also need to be done, as we need players/prospects back before we run down contracts for players we don't see coming back... hopefully... They found Joshua, and with a little bit of luck they can find another 1 or 2 like him... We have some prospects in Sasson and Ray, Karlsson and Aman as well, and hope fully a couple of them can be bottom 6 players... but we need size with decent speed like Joshua...

Mika was not a top 6 winger neither... And Hogs is just finding his legs... This is a big question... you are spot on, his value has never been higher, and yet it is very high to Canucks as well... It's a big call, as both he and Mika would open up $5M each, and that could Petey the winger he should have, and keep some of the bigger players.... however, he has been the driving force in our line up, so what to do... $5M sitting on the 3rd line in a single player is a lot, so....

Again agree 100%... He is an arrogant arse, who has won Zilch in his career... Hearing TSN riding his and McDivers d's all series long didn't make it any better... Rotten to the core the lot, but we knew that from 2011... If there is a silver lining, for me at least it is, we were unlikely to be able to beat Dallas without Demko and Boeser... Stone cold Mika and whom ever else was left, was his wingers... He can play better, we've all seen it and the last two seasons 102 + 89 points bare witness to that... He'll turn it around...

Absolutely agree 100%... This is where experience comes into play... JR/PA has never been scarred of pulling the trigger, so there will be a few heads rolling now... I expect Mika to be dealt, maybe in a deal with Hronek... Question is, if they still see Petey as the future or not, but I think they do... Time will tell... Nevertheless, we all knew before this started, that this would be a learning experience for the entire team... Good news is, or main performers bar Miller (who is by no means old) are young, so they will grow and likely become better players, physically in particular... Onwards and upwards...

Yeah too bad... did you want him signed before the play offs? I'm asking because just about everyone was concerned, that not signing him would mean we were losing him... I'm interest in hearing if he hd an injury or not... regardless, time will tell if he is worth the $11,6M or not... this play offs was not good, but its not as if he has play super well for us before... Wonder WTF happened at ASG since Petey in particular seemed to play like crap afterwards.

Too bad LIndholm with Petey didn't work to the max... would have been great and just kept Bluger with Joshua and Garland... But yes Boeser going down and we don't have anyone to replace him... Maybe next season

It was a surprise that Petey didn't produce during the playoffs... That was part of the problem, together with Mikas ice coldness... If these two top 6 players had produce (Petey in particular) we would have been more the races, and probably even through.... Wished the plugs had been more physical though in the Oilers games... Too little hitting with purpose on the forechecks... Things to ponder for Allvin over the next months, to ensure we have a better chance next time around...

After seeing us this play offs, I'd even suggest that with a bit of luck our window may even be bigger than 4 years, if Podz can become a 3rd liner and both Willander and Lekkerimaki becomes players, we may look at a bigger window (maybe 6 years), but that is for another day... We need to find bottom plugs, who likes to hit and hit a lot.... Petey having to be a wrecking ball is all good, but I'd prefer he concentrated on his elite creative and scoring powers... Wonder how he would fare with a spell between Garland and Joshua, or similar players... Playing him with Stone Cold Maki, and whichever plug there was available, didn't do much for him... Expect him to improve as he grows even older and the same with Hogs... these are young players, Podz too.... Our back up next year is likely Silovs, if they want to save on a back up keeper... Myers brought it, just like last play offs and Zad too... They will need to make some cuts, to improve and stay within the cap, but it should be possible... Remember how many trade proposal were made with Boeser and Garland... 2 of our best forwards during the play offs... The future is bright and we can look towards next season with optimism... Still....it hurts like hell to lose this round to those diving arrogant pigs... Especially Dry, Kane and McDiver...
