  1. This is something that put folks in the seats... Probably why they all love McD in Edmonton... different era, yes, but when he goes, he goes... In the end its all about being entertained. PS. and the fact he scores a shit load of goals.... screw them
  2. Bure was electric... when you see old game replays, you still get excited watching him go.... like a true racehorse at a donkey show... Bure was a true superstar.
  3. Maybe.... but it would definitely had been better, had we had a management team that agreed on the way forward... This was just an utter shit show.
  4. Without shadow of doubt JR/PA has been a revelation to this franchise.... When everything is said and done, they may very well be considered the management team in the history of the Canucks although there is still ways to go. Still think, like you say Demko and Miller was home runs, and I also think regardless if coached into taking Petey, he made the pick. and he will be remembered as the person, who picked both Hughes and Petey.... Just like Burke will forever be remembered as the one drafting the Sedins. Regardless, who cares, who did what, to get where we are now This is magic times, and thank the almighty JR/PA came in and took over... they've been immense.
  5. True... Bure stats 428 games and 478 points = 1.12 points per game Petey stats 375 games and 388 points = 1.03 points per game At the moment he is scoring at 1.30 points per game rate At the end of the season (not counting play offs games) it will be 405 games and 430 points = 1.06 points per game average... (which is incredible baring in mind he is just entering his prime)... On a side note, If we do well in the play offs, he may actually end up very close to Bures games played. On another note, JT Miller is on a 1.10 points per game as a Canuck... amazing stats really. Those 3 are the only players in Canucks history to be above 1 point per game having played a decent amount of games... Thus I think there is an argument for Petey to eventually be in the ROH, even if he leaves in the off season (which I obviously hope isn't the case).
  6. That is very possible, but we will never know... Could have had another pick on his mind. The fact he wanted Hughes, suggest he was right in his evaluation. Lucky or not... Its not defence as I could care less, but lets not change history to accommodate for our views on a very average (even below average GM). If we complain about him picking JV and OJ, then we should acknowledge him picking Brock, Hughes and Petey, as well Demko and Hogs. Whether he was lucky is irrelevant... You gotta have luck in all parts of being a GM... You gotta be good to be lucky. not that I in anyway compare Benning to JR/PA, who are miles ahead of him), but PA got lucky, when we shifted Beau to Blackhawks for a 5th and then Zadorov became available, and we got him for the 5th... This became possible because PA shifted cap, even though he didn't know this opportunity would present itself. So good and lucky.
  7. Hmm.... that's a good question... He does hold a fair few records already, so think he might be getting there. Especially if we make some noise in this years playoffs. How many games did Lu play? or Bure? I know, special talents.... but both around 450 games as Canucks.
  8. Don't disagree one little bit.... Benning saw hi,,self as the smartest man in the building, when it came to making the picks... hence even more the reason to say the picks were his regardless of what he was told or not told. Not saying its right or wrong, but in the end, he made the picks and despite screwing up on a few of them, he also made some good ones... lucky or not.
  9. Because Allvin hasn't made a trade in like nearly a week....
  10. Again that is irrelevant... Benning could have done the same... As for Tkachuks impact, we will never know...
  11. In the end the GM makes the picks... He takes the accolades or gets the stick, which ever way the pick turns out. If the GM makes rubbish picks, history doesn't speak about who his scouts were, or what info he got. It's his name that is associated with the pick. Good or Bad.
  12. To turn it around, they need to hit on just about everything they tried... And they seem to have accomplished that... Horvat into Hronek and Zedorov. Bottom 6 players on a string for next to no money... Our D core tough as nails, and now adding another top class C for the run in.... The way they ruthlessly makes trades, if they don't see the fit, is something we haven't seen here in a long time... Great time to be a Canucks fan...
  13. You may be right amigo... I think, the two years at max cap hit, is when lekkerimaki and Willander will become accustomed to playing in the NHL and once the cap situation gets better, they'll be able to contribute meaningfully... a lot of things needs to go right of course, and a lot of wheeling and dealing to be done before hand, but I have such a good feeling about this team... Best part is atm we discussing minor trades to make us even stronger/tougher... I did not see this coming so quick, when Allvin became GM... But is was clear, when they bought out OEL, they saw the potential of a quick turn around for this team.... otherwise it would have made no sense to extend the pain.... so here we are. All hail the JR/PA partnership... what a turn around.
  14. I sometimes wonder, how we would have faired now, had we had JR come in say 5-6 years ago instead. If they sorted the team out then, there would be no Quinn Hughes drafted, as the team likely wouldn't be as bad as it is now? So in some weird way, it could probably be to our benefit, that Benning was kept on as long as he was?
  15. Yep 2 years now, and hopefully another window once the 2 tough years of penalties are done with...
