Signing players on a winning team has always been easier (and cheaper) than on a losing team.

spot on... It was always the case under Gillis... He had a lot of players coming through that had been drafted by the previous regime... Just like JR/PA has now... The trick is obviously to find a way to keep the influx of players coming. At least until you ave ridden your stars almost into the sunset, and then start all over... while they still have a bit of value...

I know, but I remember JR saying in an interview, that we had many prospects, probably too many prospects.... These are small potatoes going out, as we actually have something in the cupboard towards the future... Need to strike while the iron is hot... Probably one of the reasons JR have had 3 cup winners over the years.

He's a couple of years older, I believe, so should be able to negotiate... Nevermind... If he walks, he walks... can't always hang around waiting for the son to shine from a perfect angle...

Lets just hope he doesn't require Horvat numbers on an extension...

I'm sure Allvin would have preferred a 'lesser' prospect than HB (not sure Raty is), but if this was the deal breaker, I don't think Allvin would be too concerned... I understand, why folks are a little disappointed in losing HB with him breaking all kinds of records, but at the same time Rathbone, who was a great points producer, never made it with us, as he couldn't defend at NHL level... also prices and accolades has to be taken with a pinch of salt. Lockwood and Gaudette were holy Baker winners, but not really that impressive at NHL level. As for line c combinations, I think that is far from a foregone conclusion... Lindholm may anchor the second line with Mika and Suter/Hogs or another, while keeping the lotto line together. I do think Petey and Lindholm with Mika makes a lot of sense though...

Or,.... Lindholm does mesh with Petey and Mika, and we now have 3 scoring lines and good defensive second line and a 4th line that can score and battle as a great energy line... It may be as good a line up as 2011 or close... Let's have some faith my friend..... Gotta strike while the iron is hot

Jurmo is gone regardless in the summer, and the 4th is a toss in,,, The first is going to be a late one, Kuz was always most likely going to be a casualty, so the big question mark is HB... If Lindholm jumps ship in the summer, it can be argued its was a mistake, but we really need to give them all the chances, we can, to do some damage come play offs. Our future wasn't touched, which was the main thing.

Maybe.... However, if we go deep this year, I think its worth it... It's a gamble, but again I trust management to do the right thing. They've been gold thus far. I think, Calgary demanded a good prospect to go with the 1st, after us picking up Zad for a 5th... The rest of the season is going to be very interesting.

Exactly... On a side note @Provost mentiined another aspect of this trade... Gives us this run with Petey, if he doesn't want to re-sign, or if he gets too expensive, we now have a C to replace him for the upcoming penalty years. I does give management less of a headache having to replace Petey, should that be necessary. Obviously hope not...

Petey said he wanted to win.... Management have done their side of the bargain, by supplemanting him with a great supporting cast. Now over to you Petey. Lets Go.

Spot on.... We held on to a play making point getting Dman for a long time, but he couldn't play D in the NHL.... You never know, but not a foregone conclusion... JR/PA is giving the team an opportunity to go for it....
