  1. am i the only one who wants at least one hard to play against wingers on each line? right now we have lafferty, joshua and diguiseppe. we also have a couple of small scrappy wingers in hoglander and garland. these players also have to be strong defensive players too. most successful lines have, a scorer, a playmaker and a strong defensive player that is harder to play against. the sedins had burrows; west coast express had bertuzzi; gradin and smyl had fraser, even gretzky and kurri has semenko. imo, we need one more top 6 winger like that. personally i like diguiseppe with miller and boeser. he gives the other two, more freedom and courage to do what they do best.
  2. so would the canucks. will one fit under the tree?

I hate to be a "Debbie downer" but I still think our current record is inflated.  We aren't at our 2010-2012 levels just yet.  Those 2010-2012 teams held huge territorial advantages when our top lines were on the ice.  Thomas Drance the other day pointed out that we actually hold a territorial *dis*advantage when our top lines have been on the ice, 5 on 5.  That, combined with an unusually high shooting percentage, complemented by our over-reliance on the power play, as well as our over-dependance on our top players (Pettersson, Hughes, Miller, Hronek, Boeser, and Demko), and I'm not sure we are quite there yet.

At best, this is our 2008/09 team......and realistically, we might be a more exceptional version of our 2006-2007 team and/or are 2014-2015 team.  2013 might also be a valid comparison.

My ultimate point being that I don't expect us to be with Vegas and Boston all season long.  Will gladly eat my uncle's shit with corn in it if I am proven wrong.

The only line I care about is the playoff line. As long as we are above that. We're good.

  16. where does, bains, karlsson and aman fit into this team in the future?

my 2 cents is Aman is the only one that makes it full time. I'd love to be wrong on Bains.

You never know with these young guys.....and that's a part of the allure of having as many good prospects as possible in your system.

I think both Karlsson and Aman make the bottom 6 one day.

  17. when the whl canucks played before the nhl came to vancouver, both andy bathgate and larry popein who played there, lived in our neighborhood. in the summer they played on a baseball team. they used to practice on a park across the street from our house. they use to let us young teens shag balls during their practice. two great guys. never thought to get autographs. the moral here is, if your shagging flies for a future super star, get an autograph.
  18. were you a fan of the whl and pchl canucks too? nice to see some over sixty members. in another 20 years, you'll have caught up to me. happy birthday, anniversary and longevity. maybe the canucks will give you a nice gift.

i first thought this would happen after the montreal game. has this ever happened in the nhl before? by the way the lottery numbers are 3-8-13-18-24-38.

I don't know about a tie but in 1971 the top FOUR in the NHL at the end of the season were all Bruins.  Orr, Esposito, Bucyk and Hodge Sr.
