I don't know that they'll struggle for .500 hockey, but they'll have moments when they'll struggle. And it keeps it real and reminds them that they're never there "yet". To not let down and keep making adjustments as necessary. Priming up for playoffs.

No team is "great" until they prove it at the end of the year. I don't assess at this point because it's survival of the fittest. We have some great players and if they all show up and click at the right time, we're great. And can beat anyone. We're "greater" than St. Louis at the moment, check the standings. We beat them 5-0 this year so nothing's a given.

Actually, Joe, you might be on to something. I looked up the Canucks' all-time records by month. Sure enough, historically January and February are sub-.500 months. Here are the numbers:

November - .492,  294 Wins in 686 games played

I had 6 amateur bouts in the 1990's I won 4 and lost 2. The last fight I gave away far too much weight and the other fighter had previously fought about 20 matches. I knocked him down in the first round and then he subsequently went to town on me, I hit the canvas 3 times ( once in each round) I finished the fight and decided I was probably better off finding another sport.

0-0. I get pretty emotional, but I've never thrown a punch at somebody before. Did a bit of wrestling in high school for gym class that was surprisingly fun though.

When I started studying Wing Chun (Which lasted 4 weeks). The Sifu said to me. Did you box when you were younger? I said no. He says your stance and shoulder position is like a boxer. I said "It feels natural".  He tried to get me to learn his form, I didn't find it very comfortable. So I stopped.

I enjoyed Karate more, but I never got far in that too.

Agreed with AJ. Although I'd love to see Bluegar, I think he'll probably get a significant raise elsewhere.  Meanwhile, we have Suter and we'll probably need to see what we have in Raty.  

I've noticed him in a very good way too, Joe. Not sure what it'll cost to keep him so that's likely a factor (as others have pointed out). 

This is also why it's important that we keep all/most of our prospects.  With the inevitable cap crunch, we're going to need guys like Raty, Hirose, Silovs, and Podkolzin to potentially replace guys like Bluegar, Cole, DeSmith, and one of Garland/Kuzmenko if it comes down to it.  

Trading picks and prospects for "a missing piece" is all fun and games, but we saw what happened to the Canucks during the 2013/2014 season (and then the better part of the 9 seasons following that).   

Keeping Bluegar would be great but if we're destined to move on from him, or others, this is where our prospects will come in, and hence, ensuring that we don't fall off a cliff like the previous generation did.

i want to see blueger, joshua and lafferty resigned. tocchet seems to like myers and zadorov. will they sign myers to a 2 mil contract?

petey and hronek will command over half that amount.

My guess would be Myers and Kuz at this point. They seem to make the most sense and their caps would allow for more money to go towards Hronek and Boeser.

DeSmith might be here for only 1 year as well. It would really depend in another team in the league might want him as a starter which is possible.

If we let Myers and Cole go, who replaces them? I'm not confident we have AHL guys ready to step into those roles.

Can't just lose guys and not replace them.

Young physical scoring winger, or top-4/ top-pair RHD (e.g. Andersson) would be my ask if we do move him.  Heck, I would trade for Zetterlund in SJ, and if possible get a tough RHD like Rutta or Burroughs with him, plus a pick where possible. 

Allvin is a patient man and won’t trade him for next to nothing. It’s why we have Garland and Myers still.
