my motto is: why put off till tomorrow, what you can put off all together.
-
next year we'll have 30 million to sign 12 players, including petey, hronek, zadorov and which ever ufa's we'ld like to keep. some speculate that petey and hronek will take close to 20 million alone. that leaves about 10 million to sign the other 10.

Estimates I've seen is 32.5 mil cap space (including cap increase)
That's more than enough to resign Petey, Hronek and Zadorov and keep most of our depth guys with slight raises including DeSmith. Can we add others? No but we are fine. We will need improvement from within but that's like every team.
I used capfriendly's armchair gm to figure it out, we're fine.

wait till the BRZ gets here.
the future looks bright.
-
if canucks win over anaheim and vegas loses to mcdavid,
for one night anyway, canucks would be in a 4 way tie for first over-all in the nhl.
-
mcward and aman called up. is petey out?
-
a canuck victory should put them one point behind vegas and boston for the league lead.
will our hearts take it?

I hate to be a "Debbie downer" but I still think our current record is inflated. We aren't at our 2010-2012 levels just yet. Those 2010-2012 teams held huge territorial advantages when our top lines were on the ice. Thomas Drance the other day pointed out that we actually hold a territorial *dis*advantage when our top lines have been on the ice, 5 on 5. That, combined with an unusually high shooting percentage, complemented by our over-reliance on the power play, as well as our over-dependance on our top players (Pettersson, Hughes, Miller, Hronek, Boeser, and Demko), and I'm not sure we are quite there yet.
At best, this is our 2008/09 team......and realistically, we might be a more exceptional version of our 2006-2007 team and/or are 2014-2015 team. 2013 might also be a valid comparison.
My ultimate point being that I don't expect us to be with Vegas and Boston all season long. Will gladly eat my uncle's shit with corn in it if I am proven wrong.

where does, bains, karlsson and aman fit into this team in the future?
-
anyone else miss VC?
-
if petey scores 1 point tonight and quinn and jt get 3 points each, we would have 3 players tied for the league lead in points. gcg

speaking of soucy, is there any word on his injury?
-
i secretly envisioned both the lions and canuck's victorys and the argonats and leaf's loses.
i should know better.
-
who is lekkerimaki the heir apparent too, on this team, boeser?
-
who is the canucks capologist? how far into the future do they plan the cap?
-
is there any word on, if blueger is making the eastern road trip? or how soon is he expected to play?
-
being a bisant motors ambassador is not a good gig.
they all get traded or dumped.
the newest ones, garland, they are trying to trade; podkolzin, sent to the ahl and joshua started the season in tocchet's dog house.
-
garland and myers cap hits =
petey's new deal.
beauvillier and coles cap hits =
hronek's new deal.
both players are rfa's
8 ufa's 4 rfa's
i think they resign lafferty, podkolzin, desmith and maybe joshua and blueger.

cap friendly has us with 31 mil in cap space with 12 players signed add about 19 mil for petey, hronek and desmith's new contracts. that leaves about 11 mil to sign
7 or 8 players. we'll need a 4th line, a 13th forward, a #4,5, 6 and 7th d-men.
i see lafferty, bluegar, podkolzin and maybe joshua signed for forwards.
i see bear with soucy and hirose for 7th d i don't know who makes 5 and 6th d-men.
-
We will see how much Petey wants to be here based on the numbers of his contract.
If we can get EP40 for $11-12 Million we're laughing.
My concern is DeSmith and Cole. DeSmith will be 33 next August. Cole will be 35 in February.
Both are playing very well. I'm worried will they want money and term? Or just term?
Blueger, and Lafferty I hope will be affordable options and stick around.
Hronek hopefully won't ask for crazy money and term.
Brock is living up to his expectations and contract. And I'm really happy for him.
The team needs to still get more depth, and better players. And more speed.
-
on a hockey blog, one knowledgeable hockey guys said, the canucks have 2 top 4 d-men and the rest vare bottom pairing d-men.
kind of puts things in prospective.
-
better effort but we lost all the board battles. tocchet won't be happy withn that part of their game.
-
Watching the start of the season so far, it feels like we just may not have enough players that can win those battles, and it really stands out given how much Tocchet has emphasized that part of the game. Maybe we need to keep the pucks away from the boards more often and stop ringing it around in the D-zone or dumping it in the offensive zone and failing to retrieve it.
-
IMO we miss a healthy Pearson in this regard. I think we hope Joshua Guiseppe Podkolzin could be that guy maybe we try Bains. The reality is we don't have a guy in our top 9 who can win a board battle outside of Miller and that would detract from Millers value and be the difference between him scoring 80 VS 60 where if we had a Burr to step up right now that would be a "Difference maker" Miller would put up 80-100 and our board battler would put up 40-50 instead of 20-30 playing bottom 6. the sad reality is we have a bunch of guys tailor made for this role but none of them are willing yet to seize it.

seravalli says canucks are close on a garland trade. says they have some proposals to consider. apparently someone said they will trade if canucks hold back 1.9 mil and canucks said no. and the beat goes on.
-
can anyone explain beauvillier's game to me? is ha a goal scorer, playmaker, strong board battler, good defensive forward, great pk'er, strong on the pp or speedy? i trying to figure out where he best fits on this team

Basically what @Jim Tim said. He doesn't do any particular thing well--just okay at everything. I don't think he really has what it takes to hold down a top 6 role without tons of support and probably doesn't play hard enough in the corners for a bottom six role.
-
friedman on marek's show said chicago needs more scoring. he said he thinks garland would be right for chicago. he wonders if chicago would have what canucks would want? interesting.
-
i wonder if nashville would go for garland, a mil retained for jack matier and a second?
