  1. 69 is a nice number for Matthews, glad he came up short
  2. Coyotes are motivated to win their final game, moreso than the Oil Oil can't finish any higher than they have

1/2 ain't bad Matthews being stuck at 69 is pretty nice
  4. He'll probably get it as a legacy award similar to how the twins got it, which isn't to diminish his contributions over the years The power of a narrative can't be underestimated, it'll probably contribute to MacKinnon winning the Hart this season
  5. Lekkerimaki is a great prospect, Knies is a solid young player, and Liljegren is a solid prime aged D, but I think Ottawa would want a return that helps them more now Trading Tkachuk leaves a gaping hole, the proposed return may help them more down the road but the overall transaction likely sets them back in the near future They get a 2nd too, but I think they'd prefer a more established return over a 2nd, a blue chip prospect, a young NHL forward (they have plenty of those), and a top four RD I think they could get a better return than that too if they were to make it known he were available, Tkachuk has no clause so they could ship him to whoever bid the most This proposal benefits Vancouver and Toronto more in the near future than it does Ottawa imo, and that matters because Ottawa wants to get back into the playoffs sooner than later

I'm rooting for Matthews to miss out on hitting 70 and Kucherov to miss out on hitting 100 assists I hope the final score is 1-0 with Kucherov scoring the winning goal, because that's probably the best way to make sure he doesn't assist on anything I think it'd be hilarious
  7. 4-2 Jets Toffoli Boeser with last goal
  8. Agreed, he could win down the road My bet would be that Fleury gets it https://www.nhl.com/wild/news/minnesota-wild-goaltender-marc-andre-fleury-named-recipient-of-tom-kurvers-humanitarian-award-and-nominated-for-king-clancy-memorial-trophy
  9. Sounds that way from the clip I posted above, he's still passionate about playing, competiting, and being part of the group It's hard for a lot of guys to walk away from what's been a massive piece of most of their lives I'd imagine
  10. I'd prefer to take that approach with most contracts tbh I get what you're saying, but I was thinking more about the OEL hit/Hughes expiry timeline Having the first year of his ELC be 25-26 takes it through the worst two years of the OEL buyout and leaves him as a pending RFA with one buyout season remaining He'd also be a pending RFA the same offseason Hughes is a pending UFA, whether that turns out to be a good thing or not is anyone's guess but it'd have him starting his second deal as Hughes begins what'd probably be his final deal
  11. 6M+ for him as a top six guy? Maybe, depending on the term. But for him as a third liner? We've been there and done that. I think there's a better chance he walks and takes a larger role elsewhere, and we'd probably be better off searching for a winger anyway if we're keeping Pettersson at center.
  12. Feel for the Yotes fans, they've really been screwed around the past few years
  13. Possibly, we are seeing more platoons Luongo and Rinne may have been the last active tenders to play 70+, Fleury never has It's a tough mark to meet, for tenders it requires stepping in super young and being starters most of a lengthy career, that's rare
  14. Probably, but the Caps kept finding ways to win all season despite their scoring struggles
