  1. Yes, but Vegas would have to win their next two games against Chicago and Anaheim So there's a solid chance of it if the Pens win
  2. Because I'm a fan of Crosby mostly, Karlsson too
  3. Gives him a chance to physically mature more and he'd likely get a bigger role in Boston next season It'd be good to let him stew and delay his ELC
  4. So far so good, I'm rooting for the Pens, Isles, and Caps to win tonight Wanna see Ovi or Sid make it and I want Bo to get a shot too
  5. Or as close to 8 as he can get, which is what some folks here have been saying I still think 7.5-7.75 would be the sweet spot in Vancouver
  6. https://www.sportico.com/leagues/hockey/2024/nhl-exec-committee-approves-coyotes-move-salt-lake-city-1234775401/
  7. Chychrun himself will be up in the air til he's extended imo, but I think they'll find a way to keep him. But yeah, they should have some space to shop with if they move someone out. Pinto's harder to gauge, his numbers look good over smaller sample sizes but they're still smaller sample sizes. His numbers certainly look better than last season but still. Ottawa's made a habit of handing out longer deals to young talent, I can't help but wonder if they don't bridge Pinto though. There's also the fact that Norris has had a tough time staying healthy, I could see teams being hesitant about him and his almost 8M cap hit because of that. He's talented though, absolutely. I'm not expecting him to hit 40 again next season, but I don't think it'd really make sense for us to move Boeser. I know he'll be due for a raise but I believe both sides want him to stick around so long as the price paid is fair. I also don't think it makes a whole lot of sense for Ottawa to move Zub, they need more players like that, not less. They could use another top 4RD, sure, which is part of why moving out their best shutdown RD doesn't make a whole lot of sense. They'd be hard pressed to find a better RD at a similar cap hit.
  8. This, I'd lean towards playing Lekkerimaki in Abbotsford with maybe the occasional call up. We should have let Podz stew longer from the get go, I'd rather us not rush Lekkerimaki. He'd probably be well served by getting a larger taste of AHL hockey and by packing on more muscle, he's still pretty light for his height. 175 at 5'11". https://theahl.com/stats/player/10057 One thing the Benning era management did was really push it's top picks into the NHL. Sometimes it worked as demonstrated by the success of Boeser, Hughes, and Pettersson, but sometimes it hasn't as demonstrated by Virtanen, Podkolzin, and McCann. Which isn't to shit on Podkolzin's respectable rookie season, I just reckon he'd have been better served stewing longer, maybe if he'd done that from the get go he wouldn't have spent so much time in Abbotsford this season. Same goes for Willander, I get why folks are impressed by him but he's still a very young prospect and would be well served by continuing to refine his game, and by physically maturing a bit more prior to making the jump. Pushing his ELC back a bit doesn't hurt either, we'll need that later. He'd likely get a bigger role in Boston next season too, which would be great for his development.
  9. Berube could be an option, I think McLellan will draw attention to. I question how much of the Kings going into a tailspin earlier in the season was on him, they really did start off well. The thing about Berube is his recent track record includes a cup win, I think he'll be able to be more picky about where he goes than other coaching candidates out there. I don't think he'll be moved either. I get why folks want him, but it really doesn't make sense to move him as more than likely they're worse off for doing so. He's a name folks can throw around on CFF and generate easy traffic with, but there's very little out there to suggest that he's remotely close to being on the table, I've looked. If he were there'd be a lot of chatter about it, landing Tkachuk is a head in the clouds fantasy. The Sens need to address their defense, that's a well known fact, I don't think they'd do so at the expense of Tkachuk though and I don't think they'd need to. Ottawa will end up with at top 10 pick this season, they also have Detroit or Boston's 1st, they could simply dangle one of those.
  10. He may not want to go to Ottawa, certainly. Pesce would, as would others I just mentioned above. I'd attribute some of that to having missed Chabot for a good chunk of the season, but maybe Hronek could help there. I think coaching is a wildcard, Martin will be 72 in October so I don't see him being the guy for much longer. More than likely he's replaced imo, so that could alter how player acquisition is considered. The other caveat is that if the Canucks trade Hronek they'll need to replace him.
  11. I don't disagree, but I do think Ottawa will be in the mix. It really depends on what Tanev wants, if he wants to finish his career closer to home he'll go East. It also depends on how long he wants to keep playing and who is offering what. But again, Ottawa would be better off looking for a different sort of D than Hronek imo. It doesn't have to be Tanev, it's just that they've already shown interest in Tanev. Pesce could be a fit, maybe DeMelo if he makes it to UFA, maybe Walker, maybe Skjei if he makes it to UFA(more unlikely), Lyubushkin, maybe Zadorov if he walks, there are others via UFA or trade I'm sure depending on what they're willing to move
  12. I don't think it's outlandish. Ottawa was supposedly very much interested in Tanev leading up to the deadline, they're a team I could very easily see being willing to outbid other teams if Tanev makes it to UFA. He fits the mold of what they need on their back end. He's also from Toronto, so Ottawa really ain't all that far from home. It depends on what Tanev wants, but he could likely get 5M+ and 2-3 years from Ottawa imo. There's a chance he re-signs in Dallas of course, and Toronto themselves would likely very much be in the mix. And sure, but I'm not exactly sold on Hronek addressing Ottawa's needs. They're 28th in goals allowed, averaging 3.45 goals against per game and their PK is 29th. For additional context, they're only 12th in shots on goal against which speaks to inept goaltending and giving up high danger chances. Given his deal they'll likely be hard pressed to move out Korpisalo, so the best next thing is integrating guys who can help stifle offense. Having Chabot healthy for most of the season would help, but they do need more. Could easily see them poking at Pesce if he makes it to UFA too.
  13. They'd be better off chasing Tanev, Hronek adds a skill set similar to what they already have on the back end If they're to stop bleeding goals they'd be better off looking for D whose bread and butter is stifling offense
  14. You don't become a billionaire without stepping on people, using and manipulating people, and by acting as if laws don't apply to you I don't know how anyone becomes a billionaire without being some sort of sociopath, short of generational wealth
  15. Imagine having Shane Doan ad your goat, drafting his son, having his son step in and show he could be something special, and then have to watch him play for another franchise because of relocation
  16. They'd probably be my preference as well but if I had to guess I'd say we see more of the Sidney Crosby show tomorrow None of them are easy matchups though, we could be punted by any of em
  17. Yup, trading Brady isn't likely at all unless he actually wants out, which hasn't been reported as being the case. He's frustrated, absolutely, but every player who misses the playoffs is probably frustrated about losing. Frustration is a nothing burger unless there's actually something credible about him wanting out attached to it, which there doesn't seem to be.
  18. It's not a farfetched thing either, Nashville's last game is against a Pittsburgh team fighting for their playoff lives whereas Vegas's next two games are against Anaheim and Chicago We could get LA too, their last games are against Minnesota and Chicago, both are games they should probably win There's a very good chance Nashville could actually finish as the 8th seed, which would get them Dallas, Vegas and LA both going 2-0 isn't farfetched at all
  19. Guess we'll see, but it may be part of the negotiated sale I think the NHL is likely just paying him to fuck off, they couldn't allow the Coyotes to continue as they have If someone can put an actual NHL arena in Arizona that'd be different but that's likely not a reality sooner than later They likely want hockey in Arizona again down the road but I'm not convinced they'd want to give him another chance at being an owner
