  1. Quebec may get a team eventually but I see Houston, Atlanta, and Salt Lake City getting teams first
  2. The same reason they did the past two times, it's one of the larger untapped markets There's money to be made, you know the NHL will do it's damndest to make sure they're competitive off the hop this time too Arizona moving seems inevitable, Florida less so after the past few years, they finally have a winning product to draw people
  3. Maybe it'll smarten him up, I'd be surprised if Rags coaching staff haven't told him to dial it back a bit
  4. Basically, he's a backup who actually seems to perform better after sitting for a while He's just fine as a backup but struggles as a starter, though in all fairness we were pretty abysmal defensively in front of him
  5. Wild how quickly he's climbed the ladder, he'll pass Edler before long Still wish Edler had hit 1k here
  6. Yup, San Jose got something for him now prior to him beginning to decline, maybe not an ideal return but one that will still help the rebuild they also freed up cap space even if they did retain, that has to be viewed as an asset as well Better sooner than later than holding on too long
  7. Sure, and management has to try their best But you're not always going to get guys under market value, and sometimes you're gonna have to budge, that goes for both sides of course Sometimes you're gonna pay full price, if you fish for UFA's it may even be more Some players are easier to walk away from or replace, others are less so
  8. Yup, sooner or later he's gonna end a career if he doesn't smarten up
  9. Yeaaaah, he needs to slow down with that I haven't been impressed by some of his hits, for sure
  10. I wonder what the record for quickest NHL suspension is, Rempe might get it at this rate
  11. Yup, I was skeptical of the Hronek trade at the time but it's worked out nicely. Sure, he benefits from playing with Hughes, but he's actually playing well and putting up points while doing so. We've seen other D play with him and not, it's a good problem to have. But yeah, gotta pay the pieces that actually work out. Joshua will likely get more than some folks like too for just that reason, be it here or elsewhere. Pettersson just got his bag because he's developed into a franchise level talent, what a problem to have. Same goes for Hughes. We could always be stuck paying a Gagner, Del Zotto, Spooner, Schaller, Eriksson, or so on. Folks should look back on some of the rosters we've iced since 2013 onward from time to time, things could be much bleaker.
  12. Some folks want the pieces that help make a team competitive, if not more, but don't want to pay the piper The cost of players having success, whether that's individual or team success, is having to pay players money The cup finalist that loses has to juggle the same financial realities as the finalist that wins it all
  13. The NHL probably doesn't care about the LTIR loophole, Tampa and Vegas have both won cups partially due to said loophole Realistically fans of teams who aren't using it will continue to gnash their teeth while the NHL continues to ignore them Nothing will change unless a majority of GM's/owners make a big enough stink, and I don't see the NHLPA pushing to address it either, it sends players to winners
  14. Agreed, I'd like to see him stay but I also want to see him secure the bag The career of an NHL bottom six forward can be fleeting, so can a hockey career in general
  15. Less than a month is appropriately vague, hopefully they don't rush it Knees are tricky, even if things are best case scenario
  16. Knees are tricky, hopefully his recovery goes smoothly
  17. Sounds like a sure no, everyone knows the Canucks have a storied history of icing top tier Finns Lumme, Salo, Ruutu, Granlund, Vaananen, Jokinen, Skriko, Lammikko, Santala.. Probably shouldn't risk it..
  18. Joshua's gonna be 28 in May, capfriendly has his career earnings at roughly 1.5M. 23 points in 79 games last season, 26 in 53 thus far, will probably get closer to 35, maybe a bit more. All while being a physical force and annoying to play against. If the Canucks want to retain him they may very well have to pay him market value, because more than likely this will be his best chance to secure the bag. Honestly, he'd probably be better off financially exploring UFA. I wouldn't be surprised to see a team give him 3M or a little more.
