  1. Some folks would seemingly rather not have someone at all if he's not willing to take a team friendly deal and that's just not realistic. Even top teams have to pay full value sometimes, I don't see why paying market value has to be viewed as a loss when it's more of a norm.
  2. I don't know about overpaying, but I see him getting 7.5-8M and I don't have a problem with it. I think the prospect of Hughes somehow setting an internal cap for D is ridiculous, players all know that contracts go up alongside the cap and that every negotiation is different. Hughes will get his in a few years, likely 12M+, I doubt he'd care.
  3. I'm kinda rooting for Detroit too, I'm hoping Tampa or Philly slide
  4. Horvat is quietly an almost point per game center for the Isles, I'm glad it's working
  5. Isles up 3-0, could jump into a playoff spit with a win if I'm not mistaken None of Detroit, Philly, or Tampa should be comfortable
  6. Meh, sometimes you gotta pay Folks need to let the dream of everyone always taking team friendly deals go, even top teams have to pay up sometimes
  7. Oil having been getting the results they want of late but they've actually been more committed to both ends the past few months Both teams can be dangerous, but we're more likely to get Nashville than Edmonton early imo Oil can hold a divisional seed, Nashville ain't catching Dallas, Colorado, and Winnipeg Nucks fans shouldn't sleep on Nashville, there's a solid chance we play them
  8. The timing is fortuitous for Vegas, but yeah, Stone's injury is no joke
  9. They're more balanced across their roster but lack the Oil's top end offense That being said, Josi and Saros are difference makers Josi is lowkey having a Norris caliber season
  10. Realistically he could get Hughes money or close to it, give it a couple seasons and you won't care about 500k-750k, his deal will probs age well as the cap goes up If the Canucks view him as a 2 7.5-8m ain't out of the question I don't see the Hughes cap hit as a hard cap like others, players all know that the numbers get bigger as the cap rises, Hughes will likely end up getting 12M+ in a few years anyway
  11. I'll be surprised if he's not moved closer to the draft, Bruins likely don't have the cap space to retain both him and Swayman longer term Swayman's a pending RFA, Ullmark has one more season on his deal
  12. Nashville hot af lately, they're gonna be a pain for whoever plays them
  13. Overall, I'm happy, depth additions would be fine but I've no issue with simply letting the chips fall how they may Glad management isn't rushing to give up picks and prospects, hopefully that remains true at the draft and during the offseason
  14. It's a team game, Miller's still productive and is big for the team, but I wouldn't overstate the leadership of any individual player going forward There's always a leadership group, and I'm sure it'll see change as time goes on
  15. I'd prefer someone younger, he's a top line forward though, no doubt
  16. Be interesting to see if the Canes can get him back to producing, could be that moving on is best for both him and Washington He helped bring the Caps a cup at his peak though, that'll never be forgotten
  17. Depends on what he wants, Conn Smythe winner or not he'll be 34 in December, I'd be surprised if he got more than a couple years anywhere Dunno what kind of raise he'll get, he's earned one, but maybe he takes less to stay on a contender Hanifin will be extended, most of Martinez's expiring 5.25M will take care of that The Hertl cap hit complicates things, they'll have to have space for him and Stone, but walking away from Mantha and Stephenson would help They're gonna have to find some cost effective contracts and let some guys go, maybe make a trade Lehner staying on LTIR next season would help
  18. I'd imagine Hughes does, but his brothers are a wildcard draw Demko, I think that depends on whether the team can maintain being competitive, I think we'd be his first choice if we do If Miller ages poorly management will have to find a way to address it, that's what they signed up for, but we've got some good prime aged pieces that should act as engines going forward
