  1. I've done dumber things for less reward
  2. Oh, I'm sure that's happened a few times over the years
  3. Well deserved, if there's more I'll try to remember to add it later
  4. We're probably already cursed, it's alright
  5. That's silly, we can't seem to keep Russians here so why bother?
  6. Pettersson would be intriguing, could be available if Pittsburgh flames out Upgrading the LD is probably more realistic than upgrading the RD I like the idea of both young D stewing, I'd rather be patient, if they can show they deserve spots at some point I'm sure space would be made
  7. Yeah, the whole hand saga left a bad taste in my mouth. He was a solid player for us for a good while there, would be nice to see him continue his career with an NHL franchise.
  8. I never thought Tanev would come back, I assumed he'd end up in Toronto or Dallas. Never really thought Pesce would be interested in coming here, and I'm not sure he'd have taken the 5.5M and term he took in Jersey here; born in New York state, hard to say whether he was interested in Canada at all. Roy was the guy I wanted but I'm not sure we could have offered him that 5.75Mx7 Washington gave him. It didn't seem like a great offseason to be fishing for top 4D via UFA. 3x3M ain't small, but I don't view it as a massive stopgap to upgrading our RD, Desharnais is 2x2M and that's not a ton of commitment, he doesn't have trade protection and is probably movable at that price without us having to pay for the privilege. I was wondering if we might move Garland out, but it seems they want another go round of him with Blueger and Joshua, which I get.
  9. Myers could have gotten more elsewhere, certainly. He did take less to stay. Is it ideal having him as a 4D? Probably not. Could we do worse than a guy with his lengthy history of playing top 4 minutes for 3M? Absolutely. Ideally he'd be a 5D who can step up in event of injuries, but ideally we wouldn't have dead cap on the books too. We'd likely have needed to move out a larger salary to bring in a legit top 4 guy and it doesn't seem like they wanted to after shipping out Mikheyev.
  10. Given the cap constraints I'm not convinced they were going to do much better at RD than Myers while making the other moves they did. I didn't really have an issue with the Myers deal. He was towards the bottom of what qualifies as a top 4D in regards to ATOI last season, I expect he'll be asked to do that again. Thing is, he's not paid like a top 4 guy and will probably be quite serviceable as a 5-6D going forward if we can find a way to bring in a top 4 guy; we'll have the cap space to do so closer to the trade deadline but in the meantime our D will probably do alright if it is probably our weakest link. I wanted a top 4RD this offseason but I understand that we couldn't afford to do everything. All things considered, I like our offseason acquisitions.
  11. For Andersson? Probably. If he were available there are teams with better asset stockpiles than us out there. Calgary would be best served extending him imo, someones' gotta play defense in their top 4.
  12. Edmonton's PK itself could be an issue this season, having so many skill guys up front could come back to bite Edmonton. Their PK was quite good this past playoffs for the most part, and a big part of why they got as far as they did. Their PK was 94.3% if I'm not mistaken, absurdly effective and likely not sustainable.
