  1. Sens don't need Pettersson at all, in fact they have a surplus of talented centers Stutzle and Norris are signed long-term, Pinto has 13 points in 15 games Offense is not where the Sens need help, trading Brady makes zero sense for them
  2. Kings, Knights, and Oil may all be looking to add
  3. Preds won't move Saros so long as they're in the hunt, which leaves fewer big ticket tenders available https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2854667/report-predators-wont-trade-saros-while-in-playoff-spot
  4. That's a fair take, I don't particularly care if Pettersson waits til the end of the season to sign either. Players are individuals, they're going to do what they feel is best for them, Pettersson is doing that. It's not Pettersson's job to figure shit out for the Canucks, he's looking out for him. Is that selfish? Sure, but most people are on some level and it's not an insignificant commitment. Player careers go by quickly, top players only really hit the negotiation crossroads a few times. A medium or long term deal isn't an insignificant commitment. Mind you I'm not really looking at this from more of a Canuck-centric view, I don't have an issue with players chasing the bag. More power to them, someone's gonna earn that money. I also don't expect stars to take discounts, or to leave dollars on the table, most of the time they don't. Not just as a Canucks, but around the league in general. Every fanbase wants their players to take team friendly deals, but it doesn't usually go that way. Players are in the business to get paid, it is what it is.
  5. That's fair, I'm not overly worried about it either I don't care if Pettersson is selfish in wanting to wait, it's whatever, management will just have to deal Yeah, it puts a bit of a damper on their deadline flexibility because they don't know what their cap outlook will look like further down the line, but I'm of the opinion that they shouldn't be making any more large moves anyway Hronek and Zadorov can wait, if Zadorov really wants to stay it'll get done regardless I still put Pettersson in the Hughes bracket, nobody was expecting Miller to fall off sooner than later but I still view Pettersson as the guy who will drive things forward as Miller ages and declines
  6. Can we bump that number up a bit If we can get everyone to escalate we can probably get this thread to 300 pages before something happens The big, red, shiny panic button doesn't appeal to you?
  7. On a scale of one to ten how much are we panicking today?
  8. For real though It's hard to look at that roster and see a forward who leads by example more than Tuch
  9. The reasons teams would want Tuch are the exact reasons why Buffalo likely keeps him. He's probably their next captain.
  10. I mean, we knew from the get go that he wasn't interested in negotiating in season, it's the media and fans spurring this thing into a frenzy. Management likely knew where he was at, frustrating stance for them or not. At the end of the day we simply don't know, we're all talking out of our asses. Does the Pettersson domino hold up other subsequent moves? Probably. Is it Pettersson's job to manage the Canucks organization? Nah, it's his job to look out for him. Will that frustrate some folks and have them deeming him selfish? Sure.
  11. Lolwut, why would Pettersson sign with a rebuilding Ducks team? More than likely Pettersson doesn't just want to be on a winning team, he wants to get paid too. Anaheim, while providing anonymity and money, doesn't provide Pettersson with a competitive landing spot. Let's be real, it'd take a lot more than Pettersson to turn that Ducks team into a playoff team let alone a contender, and I like Anaheim's crop of prospects and young NHL'ers.
  12. They don't even need Pettersson, they have Stutzle who makes quite a but less than Pettersson will I get why Canucks fans would want Tkachuk but this move makes zero sense for Ottawa They don't need centers, they have Stutzle, Norris, and Pinto
  13. You're not wrong, but I'll be surprised if they do Guess time will tell I'm actually hoping they have success at rebuilding/retooling, the Calgary and Edmonton games are more fun when the other team can legitimately compete imo Beating on them during the Sedin era was fun but the rivalry is more fun when both teams are actually good
  14. Meh, I think Weegar and Andersson stay. Possibly Markstrom too, it depends on what teams offer. Everyone else is probably on the table. I've heard that teams have poked at Andersson but I've yet to hear anything regarding Weegar. I think Calgary tries to retain Andersson, I don't think they're interested in moving Weegar. Someone's gotta play NHL level defense for them. Both defenseman can help bring prospects and young NHL'ers along. As I said, Calgary's probably in for some pain, but even rebuilding teams typically opt to keep some veteran presence around. I understand that these are pieces that hold trade value, but I'm not expecting Calgary to go scorched earth.
  15. He may not come cheap, the Jeannot trade could throw a wrench into the price when it comes to this type of player Which isn't to say teams will go as nuts as Tampa did, likely not, but teams may ask more for guys who are viewed as "playoff type" players now
  16. Guentzel probably lands in Vegas with Stone being out They haven't made a move yet and you know they will
  17. Speaking further to Dallas being interested in Tanev https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2853614/report-stars-express-strong-interest-in-flames-tanev The list of teams pursuing Chris Tanev continues to grow, as the Dallas Stars have shown strong interest in the Calgary Flames defenseman, reports The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. Stars general manager Jim Nill wouldn't confirm that specifically, but he did acknowledge that he's eyeing an upgrade at the position. "We've got a solid 13 forwards up top already, and then I know I've got a bunch of young guys down below," Nill told LeBrun. "Defense, you can never have enough defensemen. So that's something we're looking at. What's the cost of acquisition - what's the asset cost? That's what we're monitoring right now." The Stars have been known for their defensive play in recent years, but this season has been a different story. They entered Monday ranked fourth in goals per game but tied for 12th in goals against per contest. "That's why I don't think we've reached our best performance yet," Nill said. "I still think there's another level we can go to. That's finding the balance between offense and defense. We've been a pretty dynamic team offensively, but we know if we're going to have success in the playoffs, we have to tighten up defensively." Tanev is one of the hottest commodities as the March 8 deadline approaches. The pending unrestricted free agent can invoke a 10-team no-trade list, but the Flames have already shipped out forward Elias Lindholm and may ultimately do the same with blue-liner Noah Hanifin. The Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs have reportedly been interested in acquiring Tanev. The rugged defense-first rearguard has a $4.5-million cap hit, according to CapFriendly.
