  1. Alternatively, people continue to provide us with entertainment by continuing to smash the panic button
  2. Pettersson shouldn't get over 10M, in fact he should take a pay cut and play for 7Mx8
  3. The thing about trading Pettersson is the Canucks have limited power regarding who Pettersson is traded to. Yes, he's a pending RFA, but if he isn't willing to sign somewhere that likely kills any potential deal immediately. Why would Pettersson sign with rebuilding franchises in Anaheim and Columbus? Why would he opt to go to a franchise that isn't competitive when he can simply stay in Vancouver and get a huge financial bag? We know he wants to win, but more than likely he wants to win while being paid handsomely. Any Pettersson trade would almost certainly be a sign and trade deal, therefore negotiating with franchises he's not interested in signing with is a non-starter.
  4. If we do in fact sign Phil Kessel and he makes the Canucks roster CFF will have a bug if there isn't a Phil the Thrill emoji This is me pre-emptively requesting that we swap the elephant for a Kessel emoji Let us enter a thrilling new era of CFF
  5. High level professional athletes with a large amount of spending power spend money on partying and drugs? Doesn't sound right
  6. The Canucks lineup would be more thrilling if it featured Phil Kessel

It's true, Philip Broberg doesn't provide much thrill in Edmonton for example

They don't call him "The Thrill" for nothing.

  7. If he were a legit top six guy or a star instead of a third or fourth line guy he'd probably be pushed to enter the player assistance program instead of having his deal terminated He made a stupid decision in sharing it on social media, but the double standard lives on Wonder if another team takes a flyer on him going forward once his deal is terminated There are likely several guys who use drugs recreationally around the league who just haven't been caught or who haven't broadcasted their use intentionally or otherwise
  8. Maybe, but I don't think it has to be Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, and Toronto should all continue to be playoff teams I figure it's only a matter of time before Ottawa claws their way in as well Montreal will be a while, Calgary is a bit of a wildcard depending on how their rebuild/retool goes
  9. They'll have to fill some shoes internally, we may also see some regression from top players It's not farfetched to believe the Canucks may regress next season, it's just a matter of how much, they could regress and still comfortably make the playoffs as a 2-3 divisional seed It's hard to be a top team year in and year out, a lot of things have to go right
  10. He's had an impressive season, no doubt They'll get a good price for him if they sell, but I dunno if they're willing to throw Wolf to the wolves that way, they may just keep Markstrom around to help bring him along like he did Demko
  11. I've said it before, but I'm not seriously willing to engage in contention talk until they make the playoffs two or three seasons in a row Cinderella runs are rare, particularly for teams who've missed the playoffs as much as we have over the past decade or so More than likely we go out in the first or second round imo, if you look at the cup winners over the last 10+ years most championship teams have had to beat their heads against the playoff wall before breaking through, I don't expect we'll be any different
  12. They have plenty of runway to figure things out, regardless of how the season plays out it's been a success Folks should thank their lucky stars that the Canucks have been uncharacteristically healthy this season, and that they've clawed their way back into relevance, things could certainly be worse A losing stretch should be like water thrown into the faces of the players, which is good, but maybe it'll temper some folks expectations of them as well They're a work in progress
  13. Growing pains Despite their record, this is a group that's seen very little success together, their record indicates that they're a top team out west but they're also a group that's still learning to be a good team You don't jump from being a team that's been either a bottom feeder or a mushy middle team to trying to be a competitive playoff team without growing pains This is part of why I keep telling folks this Canucks team still has a lot to prove, not only during the regular season but come playoff time as well On the upside, the first part if becoming a playoff regular is getting there the first year, they'll do that They'll just likely have to experience growing pains come playoff time before breaking through as well
  14. They were bound to regress sooner or later, better now than playoff time
  15. The skid continues, I haven't had much luck calling them to win of late 4-3 Bruins Marchand
