If we move Pettersson it'll probably be in the offseason when more teams have roster/cap flexibility, which means more teams would be able to bid Crosby is a legend but if we're trading Pettersson we need to acquire pieces that'll help us manage a more sustainable window Crosby doesn't guarantee us a cup imo, hockey happens, we just saw a juggernaut in Boston get punted in the first round last spring, I'd much rather acquire younger pieces who could contribute to multiple runs

Honestly, I don't think a lot of younger folks would be all that interested in fighting in a war. I sure as hell ain't. Canada doesn't have the ingrained military culture of the US. I don't believe not wanting to go fight in some military conflict makes one entitled. Conscription would probably be the only way some would fight, but I guarantee you there are probably many who'd rather simply sit in prison or something akin to that. If conscription were to happen I imagine it'd conscript younger folks in general, not just men. There's also a difference between agreeing to stick around in Canada and participate in the military and being willing to be shipped abroad. The military has not only struggled to recruit for a while, but to retain as well.

Eh, I credit the rest of the Leafs for that more than Reaves. He's relatively useless out there. And sure, that's why I said teams want players who provide pushback as part of their toolbox. The one dimensional enforcer role is almost dead, that doesn't mean teams don't want guys who are willing to mix it up on their team, they just don't usually want players who only bring that attribute.

They did, he was cost effective depth Chytil really helped drive their youth line last season though, they're missing having him as a 3c and they could really use one I thought they'd nab Monahan but Winnipeg beat em to it

Dobson's evolution has been nuts, up to 57 points with a couple periods to play. He's been about a 50 point RD the last couple seasons, this season he could hit 70, maybe 80 if he gets red hot. Due for a sizeable raise from his current 4M after next season.

Rags really miss Chytil, their depth really isn't as good without him

I don't know, but I think it'd require more NHL caliber incentive for Arizona to consider it They don't need another 2nd more than McBain, they have several, Phil is a fourth liner at best, and Karlsson is having a good season (and had one last season) he'll also be 25 in November with little NHL level substance to show for it so I question his value and what he actually is Definitely on the older side for a prospect, if not on the cusp of not being a prospect anymore

I think you'd have to do better than that, and by that I mean give Arizona a player who's more likely to help their NHL roster. The price isn't bad, but Arizona already has oodles of picks. They have a whopping 10 second round picks over the next three drafts in fact. They also have 7 third round picks. Their core is very, very young. They've also been missing Zegras and Killorn most of the season. They have a few savvy vets such as Fowler, Henrique, Gudas, and Silfverburg, and some prime aged guys such as Terry, but they will largely go as their top young talent takes them. It's a rebuild, one that's taken longer than I thought it would, but a rebuild all the same.

It's true, they've been considered a contender for at least a couple years now and aren't far removed from a cup final. Some folks point out the bubble for us, but that was four seasons ago now and doesn't really hold much bearing at this point imo. We don't know what this team is capable of come playoff time, it's a fresh slate, but the core is still relatively inexperienced. We could very easily go out in the first or second round, more than likely we'll have to lose in the playoffs for a while before going deep, most teams have to. But the only way to garner experience is to be in the mix.

I don't think the twins hold a grudge, I personally can't be bothered to. But yeah, you don't have to like either of them. If we met Dallas in the conference final for whatever reason they're a team that could beat us. They'll be a tough team for anyone to beat. Otter can steal them games, they're the highest scoring team in the league, one of the best faceoff teams, they're in the better half of the league when considering goals against (13th) but they're also one of the best PK teams in the league while being the team who takes the least amount of penalties. Their biggest weakness is arguably at RD, which is why Tanev makes so much sense. Bringing in Tanev would allow them to bump Hakanpaa down to their third pairing, which would improve their top 4 and their bottom pairing. This could also be Dallas's best chance to go "all-in". Benn, Seguin, and particularly Pavelski aren't getting any younger. Their forward depth looks very good, particularly once Dadonov comes back. I could see them giving Calgary a 1st for Tanev in all honesty.

Benn's been better this season, like last season I think him and Seguin have benefitted a lot from not having to be the top guys anymore Having Pavelski, Duchene, Robertson, and Hintz up front with them gives them a lot to work with too Heiskanen is always dangerous, they look to have another good offensive D in Harley too Dallas is supposedly interested in Tanev too, they could be dangerous if they add him I think Jersey gets someone, not sure it's Marky, but they'll get someone

Eh, I like Dallas, they play entertaining hockey I wouldn't be surprised if Marky stays or goes tbh, Wolf didn't look great against San Jose and I could see Calgary keeping Marky around to help bring him along Wolf is pegged as their goalie of the future, I wouldn't be surprised to see Marky stay for his last two seasons to help him out as he adapts to NHL hockey, particularly if the Flames are set on more of retool than a rebuild I could also see them selling high on him though

Dallas should have probably won it We're starting to see some teams pull away though, LA and Edmonton have been gathering points and if St. Louis can beat Nashville they'll have themselves a six point cushion with a game in hand Detroit's up 4-0 and should hand Calgary their third straight loss, they should slide further once they sell Seattle, Nashville, and Minnesota aren't out of yet but they'll need to decide whether they're sellers or not sooner than later
