  1. Nothing, in fact Podz may be more valuable to the Canucks as a cost effective forward than he would be via trading him. They'll need cost effective forwards going forward, he could very well be one, I hope he can make an NHL level impact. I just don't view him as a piece that'd entice Calgary to part with Andersson, who's arguably a prime aged top pairing RD. He might be something they take back for Tanev though.
  2. I could see 2nd, maybe 1st, I just don't personally value him as much at this point I peg him as more likely to be a third liner or middle six tweener than a legit top 6 guy at this point if he finds a permanent NHL home, though I'd love to be wrong
  3. I don't think so, but I don't view Podz and Woo as having a ton of NHL trade value, Podz is having a good year in the AHL bit hasn't shown much at the NHL level yet Calgary also wants to retool as opposed to rebuild, retaining Andersson helps them compete
  4. That's valid, but I believe he can keep it going til the playoffs are done one way or another I've argued he could be worth retaining, but it'd have to be cheaper and a short term deal imo Both would mitigate risk and decrease expectations from him There are benefits to moving on from Myers as well
  5. Nah, but it's probably a complicated scenario. If anything he might have begged her to stay. Even if abuse actually took place, she may not want to leave him or have their little family torn apart. That doesn't require intimidation, just feelings or wants on her part. Lot of folks stay with their abusers for several reasons. I mean, they may or may not have a prenup agreement but she could almost certainly walk away from him with some significant assets if she so desired. Lucic has made an estimated 72M over his career, she could get some of that.
  6. For Andersson? Sure, that's an entirely different conversation than burning it for Tanev. I doubt Andersson is available though, he may be down the line if the Flames don't think they can retain him but they've got two or so seasons to get that sorted before it's a real concern.
  7. It's not weird, but the context ain't the same. Myers is a pending UFA who can be walked away from or potentially extended on a short-term basis for less than he's making whereas Miller will be making 8M til he's in his age 36-37 season unless he's bought out or traded. The Miller contract is set in stone whereas Myer's future is very much up in the air. Myers, at present, is showing that he can still contribute though, and his contributions aren't tethered to offense the way much of Miller's contribution is. As a defenseman the expectations are different, you want offense from your D but his primary job is to help the Canucks defend and he's done a better job of that this season under Tochett. If the Canucks decide they want to go a different route going forward they can simply opt out of negotiating with Myers at the end of the season. The concern regarding Miller is how his long-term deal will age, Myers is at the end of his long-term deal. How Myers will age in regards to any extension is anyone's guess, but until he's actually got an extension with the Canucks it's not really a factor is it?
  8. Wheeler will be 38 in August, this injury may be the death knell for his career but I wouldn't be surprised to see him try and catch on somewhere so as to go out on his own terms 21 points in 54 games has been decent at almost league minimum
  9. You're not wrong, I'd rather roll the dice on either of them than Raty I could see us poking at Sissons or Trenin, both could fit capwise, maybe Novak Preds are in transition, I could see them moving a lot of pieces, they have a boat load of picks this season and Tampa's 1st for next so they'd be smart to add to that haul if they keep sliding Carrier could also be an option, he'd cost less than Tanev Lyubuskin from the Ducks could be a fit If the Kraken find themselves as sellers they have both Wennberg and Eberle as pending UFA's, Schultz too, Tatar might return a later pick
  10. Blues probably stay the course imo and opt to just see what happens come playoff time, they've got a good chance of being able to hold on to the 7th or 8th seed Nashville is four points behind them but has been sliding of late, Seattle's in the same position but they've been playing roughly .500 hockey, both could opt to sell sooner than later if they continue to slide or tread water Minny's five points back, so is Calgary, but I Calgary likely slides once they sell Blues are in a position where they're looking to compete while restocking the cupboards They drafted 10th, 25th, and 29th at 2023 draft and will likely just hold on to their picks imo I don't really view them as a threat to contend and they don't really have a whole lot of cap space with which to add, but I'd be surprised if they messed with their lineup much
  11. I'd give up Podz+ for one of Johnson or Sillinger depending on what the + was Raty's the closest thing to a blue chip young center that we have, it's been an organizational position of need for a while now
  12. I think the Flames would be even less likely to help the Oil than they are the Leafs, short of Edmonton maybe offering up their 1st
  13. Sure, but hockey fans live for speculation and hockey news Given we're approaching the deadline it's worth sharing when it comes from the president himself
  14. Podz probably doesn't have a ton of trade value at this point, which isn't to say he's worthless He's having a good season at the AHL level but that's the AHL He's likely valued less than both of Johnson and Sillinger respectively, though, agreed Johnson put up 40 points last season, 16 in 36 this season doesn't look quite as good but he's only 21 Sillinger put up 31 points in his rookie season two seasons ago, last season didn't go as well, this season he's at 19 in 47 He'll be 21 in May Podkolzin will be 23 in June, the clock is ticking a bit more Sillinger and Johnson have the luxury of being able to crack a weak team, Podkolzin will need to show more in order to crack a better one if cap realities don't open up a spot for him
  15. Aman is a cost-controlled bottom six utility player who you can plug in and expect not to hurt you too much, kind of like Biega was on D for us I wouldn't really expect more than that from him
  16. If Joshua's out longer-term it may impact what he can ask for This may end up both hurting and helping the Canucks
  17. I think in some ways Jagr's longevity plays against him when it comes to conversations about all-time greats, he didn't sustain his peak the way some other guys did but he was a dominant force in his own right What could have been if he hadn't left for the KHL
  18. I wonder if someone doesn't take a flyer on pending UFA Roslovic, he's put up top six numbers the past three seasons Provorov will be moved this season or next if they can't retain him He's from Columbus though, could very well see him wanting to stay I agree that Johnson or Sillinger could be moved, Fantilli makes one of them expendable imo and neither is all that far removed from their draft year I'd take either of them, but I could see it costing us Podkolzin, I'd still think about it though as it's not as if we have many center prospects or young centers I agree with your untouchables
