  1. Byfield is having himself a season, looks promising for LA
  2. Blues are trending well, Nashville not so much Calgary continues to do surprisingly well
  3. Could be, it'll take more than that to keep him out of a game though Light em up Mac
  4. No doubt, but at his age that may just be a career ending injury
  5. Probably, but that isn't to say they won't get it. The Leafs don't have a 2nd that isn't far off that they can trade, it's likely a 1st for them. I reckon the Flames should at least get their ask of a 2nd+, if not more. There is the chance Tanev could get hurt, certainly, but I don't believe the Flames are in a rush to move him. There's a good chance a team will ante up as time goes on. He does, but I also don't really see Tanev putting the screws to Calgary. He doesn't strike me as that kind of person.
  6. Zadorov was a 5D on a Calgary team that arguably had a more well rounded defense than we do. Their top four as a whole doesn't have the high end talent we have in Hughes, but I like their second pairing better than ours. Zadorov has been a 5D in Vancouver as well imo. Tanev is a legit top 4D who is known to be elite defensively, that's why he's highly sought after. He can solidify a defense corp or improve upon it. He's also an RD. Calgary's ask is supposedly at 2nd+, Toronto doesn't have a 2nd available though so it'd cost them a 1st. I don't believe it's that Calgary can't get their ask, given how much interest there in in Tanev, more than likely they're simply not in a rush to trade him. There's a better chance they get a higher return closer to the deadline, why settle for a 2nd+ if you could potentially get a 1st? The idea of Calgary retaining 50% and only getting a 4th and 6th back is laughable. If Calgary retains 50% they could very well get a 1st from a team who fancies themselves a contender. For reference, last deadline the Kings gave up a conditional 1st and a 3rd for a defensive D in Gavrikov and Korpisalo. Chychrun got a conditional 1st and two 2nd's. Ekholm got a 1st and 4th. Orlov and Hathaway garnered a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Craig Smith. Go back to the season prior and Giordano and Blackwell got the Kraken two 2nd's and a 3rd. We got Dermott for a 3rd. We got a 2nd for Hamonic. Lindholm got the Ducks a 1st, two 2nds, and more. Ben Chiarot of all players got Montreal a 1st, a prospect, and a 4th. Avs paid up a 2nd and Drew Helleson for Manson. Leafs gave up a conditional 2nd and Nick Ritchie for Dzingel and Lyubushkin. There's no way Tanev returns less than what we paid for Dermott. Some of the players I mentioned are younger, more well rounded players than Tanev, but this season the D trade market is pretty thin. Few top four D to be had, let alone defensive specialists who are also RD. The ask is supposedly a 2nd+, they'll likely be able to get that if not more from a more desperate team. https://dailyhive.com/vancouver/canucks-leafs-aware-flames-price-tanev https://dailyhive.com/calgary/flames-tanev-trade-interest-teams
  7. Looks similar to the Sergachev bit, gotta wonder if he plays NHL hockey again Rough
  8. Lolno There are 10+ teams who have inquired about Tanev, he could very well fetch Calgary a 1st
  9. You're not wrong, it just means he's less useful to teams who may be seeking more immediate help A team who's more established higher up in the standings probably doesn't worry about it
  10. Guentzel may not be going anywhere, this could throw a wrench into things if the Pens were considering moving him Although it's not a long-term health issue It certainly hurts their playoff hopes, which may actually make a trade more likely
  11. It's an interesting program, but the ethics and legalities surrounding it are admittedly intimidating for those working in professional caring/helping capacities. There is some guidance for social workers for example, and there are legal bits to peruse, but given it's only been legal in Canada for about eight years there's still a lot to be navigated regarding MAID.
  12. Leafs have both the Matthews and Nylander deals kicking in next season, this postseason is their last chance to capitalize on their current deals. Tavares isn't getting any younger either. Regardless of where they sit in the standings, the Leafs view themselves as contenders, giving themselves a chance to show that their getting out of the first round wasn't a one and done plays into why they may pay up. There's also a solid chance the Leafs would be willing to extend him. Brodie's 5M comes off the books at the end of the season. Muzzin's LTIR'd 5.6M does as well. So does Klingberg's 4.1M. Some of the cap the Leafs have coming off the books will go to Matthews and Nylander, but they're going to have to pay someone to play defense in Toronto. Canuck connection or not, Tanev was born in Toronto and his being willing to sign on with his hometown team isn't out of the realm of possibility. I do believe the Leafs would prefer an extension regarding Tanev, I don't necessarily know if it's a make it or break it factor for them though. Missing the playoffs during the prime of Matthews, Nylander, and Marner would be considered a failure.
  13. It's a good question, tough to make your season debut this late in the season but he's certainly got the skill to contribute
  14. Remember when Tyler Myers bloodied Duncan Keith

    1. Jess

      Jess

For just a moment, every Canuck fan forgot about his contract.

      Now do Marchand.

  15. Maybe, but he's been very productive for the Kings the past two seasons
