  1. Annnnnnnd he clears again https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/new-york-rangers-tyler-pitlick-chicago-blackhawks-luke-philp-placed-on-waivers-1.2075453#:~:text=Ottawa Senators forward Zack MacEwen,Belleville%2C he scored two goals.
  2. Holtz+ apparently They're trying to retool, it'd be selling Marky high imo Not as high as a couple seasons back, but things changed in Calgary
  3. That, and he's probably the most interesting D on the trade market if there are 10+ teams interested
  4. Someone probs pays up the 1st and he ends up elsewhere, which is fine
  5. https://www.espn.com/nhl/insider/insider/story/_/id/39512945/ranking-nhl-top-defensemen-players-vote-best-2023-2024
  6. Perhaps, but while I'm a big Sedin's fan the accomplishments are a bit different They've already begun tweaking the team but they'll do their best to get him there
  7. He makes folks sentimental, which is why he also makes such good conversation bait
  8. If he could be had as UFA, sure. But we already gave up a 1st for a more needed piece in Lindholm, giving up another would be reckless. I know folks are excited but we need to balance trading and utilizing our top picks. We need to continue using 1st round picks ourselves regularly, so as to acquire talents like Willander and Lekkerimaki. Odds are we won't be drafting high enough to get a Willander level talent again for a while, but as players like Hughes, Boeser, Pettersson, and Demko take on larger deals being able to integrate cost effective RFA's and players on ELC's will be all the more important. Drafting and development will be key going forward if we are to maintain a sustainable competitive window. Throwing away 1st and 2nd round picks regularly like Toronto will contribute to a dearth of top tier prospects. Drafting isn't the only way to acquire young talent, you can sign uni guys and whatnot, but it's the best way to do so. The best way to acquire top tier talent is to draft and develop it.
  9. If that's the price I'd rather look elsewhere Would rather not give up back to back 1st's
  10. The Caps, as a team, are a very low offense group. Some of that is Ovi, some of Ovi is that team. That being said, Ovi still leads his team with 36 points in 36 games. He's followed by Strome with 35. Caps as a whole have five players with 20 or more points. Caps need more puck distributors, the impact of the loss of Backstrom on Washington's overall offensive game cannot be emphasized enough. His shooting percentage, 7.8%, is also uncharacteristically low. Ovi still shoots a fair bit. Caps rank 30th in goals, 28th in shots on goal, 28th on the powerplay, 29th in shooting percentage, and they're 27th at faceoffs. It's not just Ovi, his entire team struggles. If the Caps can get their offensive game back to even closer to middle of the pack over the next few seasons Ovi probably doesn't have a problem breaking the record. Bring in a playmaking center or give him a playmaking winger and he likely sees a jump in production. Caps may need to buy out or pay to dump Oshie in order to accomplish this. Mantha's cap clearing up could also allow them to fit such a player. Kuznetsov getting back closer to his career averages would also help, but he's enterting a contract year so he may very well do so. Mittelstadt could be a player they could poke around.
  11. Pretty sure this thread happened earlier this season, but argue away again
  12. Blues are jockeying for a playoff spot (currently holding the 8th seed), Buchnevich is their second leading point producer, on a team that struggles offensively. Makes no sense for them to move him. Blues are 7-3 in their last 10.
