  1. I don't think Marky would go to Buffalo, I could see him going to Jersey though Gibson makes a lot of sense, he may want to stay in Anaheim but he doesn't really fit their timeline anymore and they'd be wise to sell him if they can get good value
  2. You're not wrong, location is a curveball But the Sabres should be better than they have been, addressing their inability to keep goals out of their net should be top priority They're lacking offensive juice this season, missing Thompson for a while didn't help with that, but they could probably assume their offense is capable of bouncing back Their faceoff win ratio, goals for, shooting percentage, and powerplay are all towards the bottom of the league, but they're likely also related to a degree They do put a lot of shots on net, could require a systems or coaching tweak
  3. Dunno, Tanev is a bit of an anomaly in that he's elite defensively, that's the curveball He'd garner a lot of attention, Ottawa could really use him for example So could a team like Toronto, they could give him Brodie's money
  4. It's a good question, Buffalo's arguably closer than Anaheim is to being competitive though
  5. Possibly, but that depends on what he wants "Less" is subjective
  6. That actually makes a lot of sense Swayman is a pending RFA as well an Ullmark has another season after this one at 5M, though he's 31 in July Ullmark has a M-NTC though, so it may have to be Swayman in such a swap They could sell high and bolster their forward group, though Swayman could be tough to part with
  7. DeSmith is a 32 going in 33 year-old career backup, the value isn't close They'd be better off paying Anaheim for Gibson
  8. Buffalo, like Ottawa, needs to take the next step and exit their long-term rebuild by making the playoffs Adding a surefire #1 is probs key to doing that, although that doesnt necessary make Levi or Luukkonen expendable It makes a lot of sense to try and bolster that area He's also due for a sizeable raise, he's a good trade chip
  9. Def could be, he'd command a lot of UFA interest At the end of the day it'd be a smaller cost to rent him though
  10. I could see Myers taking less to stay given his tenure with the team and BC roots I'm less convinced Zadorov would accept a 250k raise, but it could depend on the term offered
  11. I think we're gonna have to see what players like Podz and Raty can do The turnover of quality players comes with being a successful team Folks should probably embrace that
  12. There's a good chance it'll be broken up anyway The cost of individual and team success is guys wanting raises Joshua and Blueger are both due for handsome raises, there's a solid chance only one or none of that third line is baco next season given the raises Pettersson, Hronek, and Lindholm should command Plus, several UFA D who'll need to be replaced or retained, all of whom could get solid raises (or closer to their current deal in Myers's case) given the weaker upcoming UFA pool for D More than likely the Canucks will need to make savvy moves, hard choices, and promote from within
  13. Probs, that's the cost of individual and team success, guys want to get paid Wouldn't be surprised if one or none of our third liners were here next season
  14. And potentially that of Myers, Cole, and Zadorov I'd imagine Defense could look quite different next season
  15. I still think there's a good chance he comes in on a 3-4 year deal
  16. He could probably get them a 2nd at that cap hit, he's on a retained salary deal, would be great for a team like the Leafs or the Oil Particularly if the Caps retain further
  17. I'd be surprised, that'd require quite a discount from Tanev and I just don't see it There's a good chance this next deal could be Tanev's last That'd be roughly 3.5M for Risto and 2.5 for Tanev Tanev's currently making 4.5M and will be a UFA, gotta figure he could at least get his current 4.5 for 2-3 years somewhere Maybe he'd come here for 3.5-4, but less would be surprising imo Lot of interested teams, plenty would likely take him on for just money and term
  18. It's true, a lot of it'll go right back into the defense
  19. I'd rather just keep Myers as well Lot of positives to retaining him
  20. At that point they'd probably stick with him, teams can eat having overpaid players if they're playing effective hockey May be easier to move with less term going forward anyway
  21. Sometimes top teams get stomped, this should be a wake up call Not the end of the world, but they did not look good today
