There's a dark cloud hanging over Hockey Canada, and Canadian hockey, I don't think that's a bad thing. Sometimes you need have a spotlight shone on the skeletons in the closet for actual change to occur. All the media covering these stories is a good thing, we need more of it getting out because that's the only way the general public will care about it. If the general public cares there's more pressure on Hockey Canada, government agencies, and so on.

I was saying we should have sold him leading up to last seasons deadline, can't remember if you were as well. The reality is that Kuzmenko may have simply peaked in season one, his shooting percentage was always going to have him regress, it wasn't going to be the norm forever. Some folks want to cling to last season's Kuzmenko as that being the player he actually is, when realistically he's probably somewhere between this season's Kuzmenko and last season's Kuzmenko if given the right linemates, ice time, and placed within the right team systems. None of this is a knock on Kuzmenko, you don't score 39 without having skill, but that likely wasn't his norm. All this being said, teams around the league probably don't value him as a 39 goal scorer, his value probably isn't as high as some folks around here believe it is. Not after how this season has gone for him.

Benning era management got a lot wrong, but if Rutherford and Allvin have success with this group they'll do it having built upon the foundation the Benning era management brought in and established. The same way Gillis built atop what Burke and Nonis did. You gotta credit the guys who put the building blocks in place for doing so at the very least if you're going to credit the guys who build on those blocks.

Nah, that wouldn't be disrespectful, it'd simply be a bit of a weird taking considering Marner's put up 53 points to McDavid's 67. A difference of two spots isn't a snub for Miller. Considering the source, they ranked the Canucks players pretty fairly.

It just seems like you're quibbling. Canucks players have been getting their flowers thus far, this list demonstrates that. Four players in the top twenty by a Toronto outlet and it's all but, but, but, the order isn't exactly right (in your subjective opinion). Go back a season and most Canucks fans would probably be thrilled with such rankings.

Hughes and Makar are 5-6, one could argue that Hughes has been better this season but Makar's overall career has been more impressive. Sports media is biased and influenced by a number of factors, but at the end of the day Hughes was still ranked six. That's nothing to sniff at. Pettersson is a bigger star leaguewide than Miller, he simply is. He's younger, he's easier to sell in the media, and he's likelier to keep it going over the longer term. But Miller was still ranked 12 across the league instead of 10. That's not disrespect, that's quibbling imo. They even had Demko ranked 18. That's four Canucks in the top 20 and the Canucks are being disrespected? By a TSN outlet that doesn't usually do the Canucks any favours? We almost have three players in the top 10, isn't that recognition enough? I could care less whether the numbers are a little off here and there, lists are subjective.

Not sure Chicago goes for it tbh, and I'm not sure Kuzmenko does either. He's got a 12-team NTC, I'd be a bit surprised if a bottom feeder in Chicago wasn't on it. He may not be playing how he wants to play here, or getting the minutes and linemates he'd like, but Vancouver's still near the top of the standings. Players want to win, better chance of him doing that here. Although I do understand the argument of him potentially having a larger role on a bottom feeder. Vancouver will have to navigate around Kuzmenko's limited NTC, I don't see him giving them carte blanche to just ship him wherever. The rest of your proposal is moot if Kuzmenko isn't moved to free up space, we need to move cap out to bring cap in. As for Lindholm, I'd be interested depending on the price, not so sure about Tanev though. Can't help but wonder if we couldn't find a cheaper option.

As for the Babcock disaster, given it was so close to the beginning of the season I can understand why the BJ's organization would want to wait and see how things played out. But there's absolutely an argument for Jarmo having been turfed then.

John Davidson's been CBJ's president since 2021, wonder if he's in the line of fire too. This is his second crack at it, he was president from 2012-2019, until he resigned and took over as president for the Rangers.
