  1. Maybe, but a degree of regression was/is probably inevitable, if not normal. As of today we lead the league with a team shooting percentage of 13.4%, but we're also 27th in shots on goal with an average of 28.2. Boeser's also been shooting at an inflated shooting percentage all season, and despite this stretch without a goal still has a shooting percentage of 20.9%, which is down a bit from what it was. Boeser's overall game is superior to Kuzmenko's imo, but I wouldn't be surprised to see his numbers take a bit of a hit once his shooting percentage drops back down closer to his career average the same way Kuzmenko's have after his high shooting percentage last season. Boeser has bounced back, but his career shooting percentage has also jumped and dropped a bit, with it averaging out at 13.6%. What works for Boeser though is he's a much more high volume shooter than Kuzmenko. https://www.quanthockey.com/hockey-stats/en/profile.php?player=34787
  2. All hazing is not equal. Something being a thing for decades doesn't necessarily mean it's good or positive. That doesn't mean it should. Teenagers and young men shouldn't have to be fighting to be treated with the bare minimum of civilized respect.
  3. Realistically, unless Calgary flubs things, he should be. Seems unlikely we're interested in moving Lekkerimaki or Willander which leaves interesting, but unspectacular pieces. Our 1st will be middling at best, possibly later, next year's 1st is probably more of the same alongside our 2nd. Podz is interesting but has yet to prove himself, Raty is just potential at this point, so is Bains. Hoglander could be interesting to them, he's shown more at the NHL level but he'd probably be a complimentary piece in any deal. Calgary can, and should, retain 50% to up their return. If they do that they should be getting at least a 1st from another playoff bound team plus a top prospect if they're taking neutral or negative cap back to facilitate the deal. Lindholm isn't what he was a couple seasons back alongside Gaudreau and Tkachuk, but with the center market being thin he doesn't necessarily have to be. If Calgary wants to turn things around sooner than later they're probably better off shipping him East too as opposed to trading him to a direct rival, because odds are if we trade for him we'll probably try to extend him.
  4. Bryan Hayes can blow all the smoke he wants, it's doubtful Crosby ever plays for a team that isn't the Penguins Dubas didn't bring in Karlsson to help them rebuild
  5. Smart pickup for a team within striking distance of both Nashville and LA I keep waiting for Arizona to slip but they haven't thus far
  6. Agree with the first two bits, less so about Willander I don't think he'll be a Canuck next season, and I think that's best given how young he is, and I don't expect him to be a 2-3 sooner than later Which isn't a knock in him, I think he'll get there as he's a top notch young D, but I expect there'll be a learning curve and he was an 11OA pick The Canucks don't need to rush him, in fact delaying his ELC would have his ELC aligning with both Demko and Hughes extensions I'd rather him and Lekkerimaki stew and develop longer
  7. It's more realistic too, because the best way to acquire 1-2D is too draft them. Colorado has a 1-2D punch in Makar and Toews, but seeing a guy like Toews being traded and then blossoming into a #2 isn't commonplace. Then there are cap implications. The 2010-2011 defense likely didn't have a true #1, but what it did have was several 2-4 guys.
  8. Top pairing doesn't always equate to a guy being a #1 or #2, sometimes it just means it's the best option in that slot Hughes is a #1, after that we have a few 3-5 guys in Hronek, Myers, Cole, and Zadorov, and another when Soucy is healthy, with Hronek being the #3 and the others being #4-5's But that's fine, every team doesn't have a legit #1 and #2 One could argue that if we had someone else who meshed well with Hughes that bumping Hronek down could result in better depth
  9. I do think it was, and maybe is, more commonplace than we'd like to believe Particularly as you look at decades past
  10. I was saying we should sell high on him leading up to last season's trade deadline when it was extremely unlikely we were going to make the playoffs What could have been
  11. The Henrik disrespect is real
  12. It's silly really, time isn't even real, we made it all up
  13. 28 on February 4th, more than likely he is who/what he is as a player at this point At the end of the day we'll have to move sizeable cap out to bring sizeable cap in, we're pretty much capped out
  14. I thought this looked familiar, there was a CDC thread Hopefully something comes of it
