  1. That's a shame, he was one of my favourites, but that Hamas thread is a bit of a minefield and I guess he had enough Can't recall seeing more discord in any given thread, even back on CDC Old seems to have been gone, last posted on CDC in 2021 and likely hasn't made the jump, kinda faded the same way avelanch did back in 2019 He was good to have in the prospects section from what I recall, the music threads too Haven't seen them in a good while, even back on CDC
  2. Kane is a better fit in Edmonton's top six, he adds an element they'd miss Doesn't really make sense for them
  3. Apparently he has a few offers, I reckon he'll end up elsewhere if more money is offered Not sure he's a longer term fit here, he certainly wouldn't be a top four guy going forward
  4. I don't mean immediately, Philly could very well slide I think most Canucks UFA's would be available if the right trade come along, I've already said it's unlikely Cole moves
  5. He's been the engine up front this year, particularly of late, his line has been bringing it
  6. Mike Keane was a beauty, the impact he had for us with the Moose was huge, having him there was huge for players who went on to become Canucks
  7. They were in a pretty deep hole, I figured they'd be in tough to claw their way out but they seem to be doing it It's tough to make up ground in this league, we saw that the past couple seasons So yeah, I guess I thought they'd continue to spiral
  8. In all seriousness, folks probably wouldn't rag on Myers as much if he weren't making 6M But they'll always rag on someone, there's always a whipping boy or two about
  9. It's possible, it'll be interesting to see who's bumped down to #5 if they can stay healthy until Soucy gets back Not that having depth is a bad thing
  10. I'm not saying don't sign him, I expect something will get done, I just want the Canucks to take their time and make sure they're not paying him more than he should probably be getting If he can legitimately be a top four D here, fantastic, but he should demonstrate that he's capable of it for the Canucks first
  11. Oil win their sixth straight, with St. Louis losing to Columbus earlier that puts Edmonton five points out of a playoff spot with two games in hand on Nashville and three in hand on St. Louis.
  12. I hope they take the time to let him show what he actually is as opposed to rushing into an extension, he was a 5 in Calgary, if he wants to be paid as more than a 5 he'll need to prove that he can be that kind of player. Soucy was a bottom pairing player in Seattle who's only making 3.2M for reference. Same kind of scenario.
  13. Ehhh, Anaheim should be very good once they get going, you can see that the top tier pieces are there but they're all pretty young Detroit actually looks pretty solid this season, finally Ottawa should be better than they are, if they had a better answer in net they'd probably have a better record, scoring isn't their issue it's their tending and their PK combined with their being the least disciplined team in the league Sens have lots of runway though, they've only played 21 thus games thus far and still sit at roughly .500 Jersey's missing some of the pieces they moved on from, and better tending, they're still likely a playoff team though Not sure what the answer is in Buffalo, they may simply need to go find a more established starter though Columbus, man I dunno, they just never seem to be able to put it together, that's not so much about them rebuilding the right way so much as it's them having rarely ever been good throughout their history Arizona's actually looking pretty competitive, but same story as Columbus Montreal is still pretty close to rebuilding, lots of youth on that team There's always disappointment when teams are trying to put things together, we've watched that firsthand for years
  14. Credit the WIld but Skinner's the weak link tonight, Oil are doing their best to give him run support Looks like the Oil are starting to figure out their powerplay again
  15. If you look at the makeup of their roster most of their top end talent is very young, their defense in particular is very young. They've got some vets sprinkled in, but it takes time for young players to make their way in the NHL sometimes. Injuries the past couple years haven't helped their ability to compete either. Habs are still closer to a rebuild than they are to competing, similar to Anaheim, these things take time.
  16. Probs be waiting a while, they're a club who's experienced a lot of injuries, who are still kinda rebuilding, and who have a roster featuring some younger players I imagine there will be more patience
  17. If they want to extend Andersson they may have to pony up and pay Tanev He might be leaning towards leaving but money talks, Flames have looked better since November too which doesn't hurt
  18. Stanley Cup champion Robert Bortuzzo Blues already have Faulk and Parayko and would seemingly rather play their young D options than Bortuzzo Could have asked for a trade or the Blues could just be doing him a favour, he's only played four games this season
  19. Yeah, I view the NYI trade and the Detroit trades are two completely separate deals. Tethered together? Sure, but different deals. Isles needed a center, went out and got one, Yzerman deciding he was willing to cut Hronek loose is something else entirely. The pick looked more appealing at the time because it was a potential lottery pick if the Isles continued to slide, but they didn't. Most of their big money deals up front will be off the books sooner than later: Palmieri, Nelson, Pague, and Lee will all be up within the two seasons and a bit. All of them are in their early 30's now, there's a good chance NYI moves on from most of them although maybe one or two come back for less. But yeah, cap flex up front sooner than later if they want to reset. They'll need to extend Dobson and Romanov sooner than later but they'll benefit from cap increases the same way every other team does. Plus, Palmieri and Nelson expire just as they become pending RFA's. Isles will have to be a little careful about the term they give out, but having Horvat a bit overpaid doesn't hurt them too much when him, Barzal, Cizikas, and Engvall (still a weird one) are the only guys up front on longer term deals. Folks talk about Bo being overpaid, and he is by a bit, but if he'd gone to UFA someone else would have probably at least given him 8M. Isles wanted a sure thing as opposed to waiting and getting nothing.
