  1. Personally, one of the biggest ones I find myself using is the /hockey sub. It's the largest hockey forum bit I know of, and features fans of every fanbase. As such, I find it's also one of the best resources for keeping up with hockey related news. If something is happening, it's typically going to end up there, even when CDC was around I'd actively peruse it as I found it was one of the better ways of keeping up with what was going on in the hockey world. https://www.reddit.com/r/hockey/ Obviously twitter's another one, if there is news to break it's typically where it's going to break first. Others I find myself using involve.. https://puckpedia.com/ https://www.quanthockey.com/ https://www.naturalstattrick.com/ https://www.eliteprospects.com/ https://www.hockeydb.com/ https://www.hockey-reference.com/
  2. Throughout my time on CDC, and now CFF, I've run into several very knowledgeable hockey posters, but from the heights of capgeek onward the game has gradually changed a bit. Hockey knowledge can relate to the history of the game, personal anecdotes, and so on, but a lot of hockey knowledge is drawn from accessing hockey resources; sometimes hockey knowledge involves knowing which resources to access, knowing how to read graphs, charts and so on, and being willing to simply put the reading time and effort in. Sometimes it's following certain insides, youtubers, podcasts, and so on. This is even true amongst hockey professionals, the widespread use of capfriendly amongst league front offices speaks to that. Another example of this is Luongo's looking at elite prospects during the past draft. On forums such as this one, HF, reddit, and so on, being able to back up what you're arguing is something that folks regularly find themselves doing, or trying to do. So, for those of us who do regularly engage with hockey resources, which ones do you find yourself using?
  3. I dunno, I can see how some fans might view it that way but I'd be a bit surprised if he did. He's won pretty much everything he can, he's still playing at a high level, and he clearly loves being a Penguin. Dude just seems to straight up love playing hockey too, him and Mac are similar in that they're both health/fitness nuts too. This isn't to say he doesn't want to make the playoffs, but he had some pretty great players to play with when he was coming up, I could see him being content to be that guy for the upcoming crop of Penguins. I he plays another 5-6 years I could definitely see him hitting 2k, and given how he played last season I don't see why he couldn't. It's honestly a bit wild eh? Mmm, I get what you're saying but the Pens could certainly do a helluva lot worse than having like Crosby and Letang around as they integrate more youth into the lineup (I think Malkin will be the first to retire). Even as a team that trends down, they'll still need someone playing in the top six, they'll still need to have vets. I don't personally see having Crosby around during a rebuild as a bad thing. No, they might not bottom out and get a top 3 pick with him around, but that doesn't mean they couldn't successfully rebuild. I get the Sedin comparison, but the big difference is that this future hall of fame Pens core won three cups. Many Canuck fans would happily eat being bad/mediocre for a decade plus if it meant just winning one. Pens fans have been ridiculously spoiled.
  4. Yes, but it mostly means he's not going to Colorado to play with his bestie MacKinnon
  5. He could easily play another 5-6 years and still put up top six production imo
  6. He's made 8.7M for 17 seasons, I'd be a little surprised if he switched the numbers up at this point, rising cap or not
  7. If true, all the coaches wanting him back is a pretty impressive endorsement. Demko being excited to have him back is a good endorsement as well, few probably recognize the impact of a defenceman more than their goaltender.
  8. Eh, drafted by the Oilers in the the 7th round, years in their system, broke into the bigs with them.. He's got quite a bit to be thankful for, even if he has opinions about how the Oilers roster was put together I'd doubt he'd voice them immediately after leaving. Particularly given it's likely he's got friends on that roster, players spend a lot of time with each other.
  9. I'd assume it's fake, most guys don't go out and trash their former team asap Particularly after making the cup final
  10. I like the Heinen signing, Roslovic admittedly got a little more than I thought he would. Took a pay cut, but still. Hopefully we can get Sprong for less.
  11. Sid's repeatedly gone on the record over the years as saying he doesn't want to play anywhere else, he did so as recently as this past spring, I don't think the Pens fading is going to change that.
