$12 mill, what's the term? That's not outrageous.

Didn't say, if they have a cap hit range I imagine term is probably the sticking point

I'd be surprised if Pettersson signed for more than 4-6 years

  3. A fair response, none of what we say here will have any impact anyway, may as well have hope if nothing else
  4. Maybe, maybe not. None of us actually know what's going on between the US and Israeli governments beyond what hits the news. I think a degree of public pushback was always inevitable, but governments pay lip service all the time. As you said, it's not as if anyone in this thread views Netanyahu positively, but I still question how much western governments, ect are going to restrict him from doing whatever it is him and his government want while in power. War can change how some view government, it's hard to say whether him and his will be displaced by moderates any time soon. But in the meantime he's the man in the chair.
  5. Will it though? The U.S. has largely given Israel carte blanche to do whatever it wants and has given Israel over 150 billion dollars over the years, more than likely they'll probably continue to let the government in place do what they want. Europe will have more diverse views, but at the end of the day I question how much they'll ruffle the feathers of a large ally in the US. I'm not as convinced.
  6. There are going to be more of them as the cap rises, I think some longtime fans are a bit shook by anyone making 10M+ but I reckon it'll be more of a norm as time goes on Top players eat up cap increases, top players get paid, is the way it goes
  7. Two of my favourites, I miss those Canucks teams led by prime-aged Sedin's. I look back on those late 2000's-early 2010's teams the way older folks look back on those early to mid 90's teams.
  8. Pettersson is a 100 point player who could also be a Selke threat if he improves his faceoffs, there aren't many of those in the league. Him and Hughes are the engines of this team, he could absolutely be up there with Matthews, MacKinnon and so on as far as cap hit goes. If Pettersson is smart he'll take a 12M+ deal for 4-5 years and leave room to cash in again on a retirement after the cap has continued to rise. Just wait til Hughes's deal is up, particularly if he wins any hardware between now and then. He'd likely command more than Dahlin just got if he keeps it up, particularly with the cap rising.
  9. Marky's up in three years, not ideal but not as painful as it could be They're likely locked into Huberdeau unless they retain cap, they could probably move Weegar is they really wanted to A team could take interest in Kadri, hard to say Things are shifting fast over in Calgary, if they lose most of their top players it may be more of a rebuild than a retool regardless of who is signed to what Losing Lindholm, Tanev, Zadorov, and Hanifin in one season/offseason is pretty devastating after losing Gaudreau and Tkachuk not too long ago, players who want to play for a more competitive team will likely try to land elsewhere There will always be players who will take NHL jobs so they'll land some players, but the longer they slide I think the more likely it is they won't be competitive sooner than later because the longer they tread water the harder it'll be to attract/retain top talent https://calgarysun.com/sports/with-report-that-kadri-wants-no-part-of-rebuild-more-questions-arise-about-flames-future#:~:text=“Kadri signed that long-term,are in a similar situation.”
  10. Lot of season left and they're missing their most dynamic player, remove Hughes and we likely look very different as well, our offense largely flows through him
  11. If we're going to spend time shitposting into the void we may as well have fun with it
  12. I think Calgary's in a position where they're more likely to get picks/prospects/young NHL'ers back for their UFA's than anything resembling the Tkachuk trade, which brought back what were supposed to be premier players. The teams most likely to pony up for Calgary's UFA's probably aren't teams looking to give up intergral pieces of their NHL rosters. I think there's a strong chance that teams who acquire said UFA's also look to lock them up (the exception maybe being Tanev, who probably doesn't get a long-term extension imo, maybe something more short/medium-term). Wouldn't make sense to trade for Hanifin or Lindholm as rentals imo, they will be very expensive acquisitions. One would have to be pretty confident in one's cup chances to empty the coffers the way Boston did last season, it doesn't guarantee a cup. At least an extension makes it likely you get longer term value for paying up. I don't think Calgary will drag the Zadorov thing either, I think he'll be moved sooner than later.
  13. I don't have much of an issue as it stands, but I'm also not against them wanting to stop teams from circling round and round until they get the perfect look. 3v3 is most exciting when it's chances back and forth imo.

  15. Might I interest you in similarly useless and completely wasteful reading material? https://forum.canucks.com/topic/409259-it-might-not-be-the-most-ethical-approach-to-building-a-sustainable-competitive-window-but-the-vancouver-canucks-should-consider-cloning-elias-pettersson/
  16. I question whether anyone who put extensive time into CDC the past ten years could do that
  17. Coconuts anticipates that the Canucks will probably try to keep players who help them win games c7
  18. I'm assuming they'd just blow the play down but I'm also talking out of my ass Mind you, penalizing a team in OT would be a great deterrent and it'd have the further impact of hastening the ending of many games Could see players willing to risk a play being blown down but less inclined to intentionally take a penalty in OT
