[GDT] Around the NHL [November 2023]

Big blow to the Rags. It's a shame, Fox is one of the top younger D in the league. Up there with Makar, Heiskanen, Dahlin, and Hughes. -
Who will the better Hughes at the end of the season?
Coconuts replied to Tank's topic in General Hockey Discussion
Luke's had an excellent start, I've been more impressed by what Mintyukov has contributed to a Ducks team most folks weren't expecting much from though But like you said, it's an impressive rookie class and Bedard hasn't looked like the slam dunk folks thought he'd be thus far -
You say that, but folks have been complaining about the refs for years. In fact complaints seem to have escalated over the past few years, and yet nothing has really happened. Pressure should come from teams and sports media, one could argue social media campaigns could have an impact too. Even the pride tape thing we just saw was largely driven by players, sports media, and NHL organizations themselves. Segments of NHL fanbases were vocal, absolutely, but I doubt that held the same weight as the aforementioned groups. The impact fans actually have that doesn't stem from spending patterns is usually pretty limited imo. The NHL doesn't seem to care about it's fans beyond them being income generators. Individual franchises are better about the fan bit, but the NHL as an organization is pretty shit about it.

I was looking at contrasting footage in regards to bombing earlier this week I'm curious as to who is going to finance any future rebuilding effort, or whether there will even be one

Better is subjective, Jack is looking like a top 10 NHL forward whereas Hughes is looking like a top 10 D It'd be an easier comparison if they were both forwards but they're not The interesting comparison will be how Luke compares to Quinn in a few years, he's having a very good start I'd go with Jack though, dude has started like a rocket and while you've got to credit Quinn, he did just have a five point game to bolster his numbers Jack will have his big games too -

Depends on whether he signs with a coastal team or not -
[Speculation] Puljujarvi eyeing NHL return mid-December

He's free and he'd probably come cheap, he's also prime aged I imagine he'll land somewhere -
Huberdeau, Weegar, Kadri, and Markstrom likely aren't going anywhere Backlund and Coleman are likely there for the foreseeable future as well Pending UFA's will likely be sold for the best returns they can get or the returns that make the most sense in relation to whatever Calgary's short, medium, and long-term plans are They lost Gaudreau for nothing, they won't let that happen again any time soon
