  1. Good on him fot getting something like that going, they're needed
  2. https://apnews.com/article/cuba-us-economic-embargo-resolution-condemn-20bceb7216fe3eea18bec8d81372c15b
  3. Big blow to the Rags. It's a shame, Fox is one of the top younger D in the league. Up there with Makar, Heiskanen, Dahlin, and Hughes.
  4. Luke's had an excellent start, I've been more impressed by what Mintyukov has contributed to a Ducks team most folks weren't expecting much from though But like you said, it's an impressive rookie class and Bedard hasn't looked like the slam dunk folks thought he'd be thus far
  5. You say that, but folks have been complaining about the refs for years. In fact complaints seem to have escalated over the past few years, and yet nothing has really happened. Pressure should come from teams and sports media, one could argue social media campaigns could have an impact too. Even the pride tape thing we just saw was largely driven by players, sports media, and NHL organizations themselves. Segments of NHL fanbases were vocal, absolutely, but I doubt that held the same weight as the aforementioned groups. The impact fans actually have that doesn't stem from spending patterns is usually pretty limited imo. The NHL doesn't seem to care about it's fans beyond them being income generators. Individual franchises are better about the fan bit, but the NHL as an organization is pretty shit about it.

  7. I was looking at contrasting footage in regards to bombing earlier this week I'm curious as to who is going to finance any future rebuilding effort, or whether there will even be one
  8. Leafs fans are angry about something that didn't go their way? I'm shocked. Folks can go round and round about the refs as much as they'd like, but nothing is going to change on that front unless the NHL wants it to.
  9. Better is subjective, Jack is looking like a top 10 NHL forward whereas Hughes is looking like a top 10 D It'd be an easier comparison if they were both forwards but they're not The interesting comparison will be how Luke compares to Quinn in a few years, he's having a very good start I'd go with Jack though, dude has started like a rocket and while you've got to credit Quinn, he did just have a five point game to bolster his numbers Jack will have his big games too
  10. https://www.espn.com/nhl/story/_/id/38778405/justin-rogers-journey-being-gay-working-nhl Really neat article, props to the Kraken organization and good for Justin
  11. Kinda funny how Hughes explodes the day this is posted https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2749836
  12. He's free and he'd probably come cheap, he's also prime aged I imagine he'll land somewhere
  13. Agreed, I'd explore options because that's management's job, but I'd be conservative regarding the spending of assets like picks and prospects Bolstering our prospect pool should still be a priority and I'd rather not move high picks
  14. Absolutely Seems way too early to be mortgaging the future imo, let's try making the playoffs at least once first
  15. Never say never, but I'd be very surprised if Calgary were willing to eat that much long-term dead cap A bottom feeder in San Jose wasn't even willing to do it to get a better return on Karlsson, and both Kadri and Huberdeau have more term attached than Karlsson
  16. Sounds great in theory, but most teams in the league would like to add a high end scorer and top four D Unless they're willing to pay up to move unsavory cap out and then pay more for said assets, or move out players who currently hold positive trade value, it doesn't seem realistic though
  17. Huberdeau, Weegar, Kadri, and Markstrom likely aren't going anywhere Backlund and Coleman are likely there for the foreseeable future as well Pending UFA's will likely be sold for the best returns they can get or the returns that make the most sense in relation to whatever Calgary's short, medium, and long-term plans are They lost Gaudreau for nothing, they won't let that happen again any time soon
  18. At the end of the day UFA's have to want to stay, a Calgary roster with a questionable competitive outlook isn't a great selling point
  19. I think they stay, which also further muddies the water regarding any rebuild Calgary likely tries to straddle the retooling/competing line going forward imo They'll sell when they feel they have to, hold on to assets if they aren't buying youth, and try to ice a competitive roster
