  1. Tweaked the OP, sounds like it was a mutual decision based on his health
  2. Too bad, I was really rooting for him The Edmonton Oilers have released Brandon Sutter from his professional tryout (PTO) and the veteran forward has issued the following statement: I’m grateful for the opportunity that Ken, Jay and the Oilers organization have provided to me the past few weeks. You need to be 100 percent healthy to compete in the NHL, and although my health continues to improve, in consideration of my health and family, I am officially retiring from hockey. Thank you to the Oilers, Canucks, Penguins and Hurricanes, as well as all my past coaches, trainers and teammates for the incredible experiences throughout my 13 seasons in the NHL. Entering the NHL as Carolina's first-round selection (11th overall) at the 2007 NHL Draft, Sutter appeared in 770 career regular season games, scoring 152 goals and 137 assists for 289 points.
  3. Magic eight ball says "Canucks luck, future uncertain"
  4. Probably best for Podz to stick in the AHL for a long stretch, same deal as last season. Let him play top six minutes, play on all special teams, and be a go-to guy. If we want him to be more than a bottom six guy we need to give him top six opportunities elsewhere, he's not getting them as a Canuck. The others are less surprising, I look forward to seeing how Klimovich, Raty, and Johansson perform this season though.
  5. Who'd wanna get rid of Canucks hero Tyler Myers smh
  6. He'll probably clear but maybe a team grabs him as depth Doubt it, Rathbone may have value to an NHL organization but I'm not sure he's a player teams would grab and keep with their NHL group, he's reaching he is what he is territory imo Best case scenario is he's moved via trade for another team's spare part in order to give him a chance elsewhere Woo still needs to work on his game, other NHL teams have players in the same boat, I suppose a bottom feeder like San Jose could roll the dice on him Yeah, we didn't really put anything spectacular on waivers imo I wouldn't be surprised but I'm not as certain about it
  7. PHIL THE THRILL, HELL YEAH BROTHER

Do you wish you were an Oscar Meyer wiener?

  8. Probably, but I don't view it as a bad thing, I think most of us at CDC got so used to any news being there before it got to other places. Or at least it got to CDC just as quickly. If more folks have to step up to keep the forum up to date that just means more community members are involved. I'd be lying if I said I didn't peek at r/hockey a few times a day to see if there's something that hasn't made it here yet. It'd be nice to see Vintage post in a similar capacity to what we've grown accustomed to but their stepping back allows others to contribute.
  9. This is the collaboration I was talking about, I was just about to post this Nice to see different people jumping in with different things, we gotta cover for Vintage together
  10. If I remember to, yeah It's just been a kind of whoever gets to it first sort of thing thus far, but @CRAZY_4_NAZZY has already been doing what you requested in the waivers threads they've made, still a work in progress as we used to have Vintage doing all this stuff for the most part I think someone was saying waivers are later now for whatever reason too
  11. Probably. As you said we have plenty of guys who could probably fit into a bottom six or bottom pairing role. Hard to imagine we'll come across a clear upgrade via waivers, as it stands we're too much of a murky middle team for that. Not bad enough to draft top 5, but too many question marks to be a surefire playoff team.
  12. I have been bestowed with the power, maybe I should run for president
  13. The gulf between the Ottawa Senators and restricted free agent Shane Pinto widened this week. According to several sources, the player was disappointed with a recent offer in the one-year, $1M range. Pinto is believed to be seeking a salary in the $2.5M range. He could, in theory, ask for a trade, but those same sources were adamant that has not happened, that he prefers to stay and the Senators have made it very clear they want to keep him. They see Pinto’s potential. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/gap-widens-between-senators-shane-pinto-in-contract-talks/
  14. Avs may not want to go long term on Toews, no more than five years, problem is that bumps up the cap hit average. Toew's age seems to be a sticking point. All in all it makes sense. 26:00 https://www.sportsnet.ca/podcasts/32-thoughts/ Could hit free agency, but if he does he will not come cheap via cap hit or term, not after his past few seasons.
