  1. Same here, doesn't seem like it was so long ago that he was backing up Bobby Lu He was legit elite there for a while, it just so happened that his peak coincided with the Devils being awful
  2. Dude was elite on a Jersey team that couldn't support him for a while there before his body broke down, he got us Bo who wound up being a better player than many folks anticipated he'd be. What could have been if we'd held on to him, who knows.
  3. One of the last standing players from our 2000's era squads, shame he wasn't able to stay healthier throughout his career. Loved me some ginger Jesus.
  4. Could be an idea, it'd be fewer threads to generate Likely, but in my experience the around the NHL GDT's got a broad range of posts I'm just wondering how we should go about keeping it going For Canucks specific GDT's? Yeah, I like the separation.
  5. Some folks are never going to be happy with anything short of prime aged Shea Weber or Jarome Iginla as captain. Some folks want big, tough, willing to hit and fight, great at both ends, able to pile up points, able to deal with the media, basically able to do everything. Simply put, some folks want a unicorn. Quinn is an excellent choice, he was the right choice. He shows up, takes responsibility, leads by example, owns his play, and he's respected. Captains don't have to be able to fight, they need to be able to lead. They need to be able to command the respect of the room, to be there for each player, to be able to connect with each player. They need to be able to handle the Canadian media in a professional manner. Quinn can do all of this.
  6. I've been pondering this for a while, if @Vintage Canuck isn't going to be contributing in the fashion we've grown accustomed to back on CDC how do we keep these threads going? Sometimes they didn't see a lot of use but other times they'd generate quite a bit of discussion. I've taken the liberty of saving and uploading the image Vintage always used as a thread header but I'm unsure how he generated the rest of the weekly images. CDC is still up, I went back through the General Hockey Discussion forum to find an example of what we're used to. https://forum.canucks.com/topic/407507-gdt-around-the-nhl-april-02-08-2023/ I'm not sure how he generated the week to week stuff but everything doesn't have to be identical, we'd just need to keep the basic thread structure intact. Is there any interest in keeping these threads going? I'm not necessarily volunteering to take it on, I just thought I'd create a discussion thread before CDC as we know it vanishes from the internet and we can no longer access Vintage's template.
  7. We probs will, he was a reliable middle six winger who brought an element of reasonable size as well as a defensive conscience. Could put him out on any line and he usually wouldn't hurt you. Was willing to go to the front of the net, rougher areas, and while he wasn't a bruiser he did bring a physical element.
  8. I'm hoping he has a great year, still had more to give imo. I'd have held off on buying him out. Never had a complimentary partner, the Canucks still have addressed that a bit but it's still a problem in our top four. OEL didn't have a great year but it's easy to scapegoat players for roster construction. Lockwood also had a goal and Forsling had a couple assists while I'm playing with the salt ..
  9. Hughes - Myers- Hronek Soucy - Cole @Vintage Canuck Because we must protect/defend Vintage at all costs
  10. The Canucks would be a wealthier franchise if they had a player with 69 as their jersey number

I'd buy a Studnicka jersey if he wore 69, I'd buy a Myers jersey, I'd have bought an Eriksson jersey or a Ballard jersey

    4. helmetparade

      helmetparade

does anyone know if anyone in preseason is wearing one on any team?

  11. I would pay the Canucks to have a player wear that number and I haven't paid them for anything in years
  12. I don't give the Canucks a dime, haven't paid to watch them in years. But yeah, if there was a very reasonably priced way of watching it I'm sure many would consider such an option. What's old is new again! Because they're the Vegas Golden Knights! Gotta love those big ol' Canadian monopolies. Fuck Rogers. Nice of you to notice! I don't see why not, but I'd be asking the mod squad.. I used to send the odd site when folks were having trouble watching in GDT's.. Agreed, but this is a great business move for them and I hope it's successful. If they can make money off it so could other teams, better than paying for a bloated sports package. Viva la revolution?
  13. Seems like a good price, about $95 Canadian for the bulk of a season's games, as an organization that's a contender and who just won a cup no less. I wonder if other teams will do something like this if they aren't already. Also, nice.
  14. How are he, his ego, and the players supposed to fit in the same room?
  15. They should have, I do think he ends up moved though I think Couture stays though, I think he'd be tough to move for one but I do think he's a guy they'll keep around as a cultural building block Gotta have someone in their top six and even rebuilding teams need veterans, Couture gets a bad rap in Canuck land but they could certainly do worse
