  1. Either that or there was something to Tampa's reportedly being in on Guentzel
  2. Yeah, if he wants to chase bigger money elsewhere that's on him, but it's not as if management didn't try They've other things to consider and their cap space ain't unlimited, can't just give everyone everything they want, particularly after other guys take discounts to stay 2:25 https://www.tsn.ca/nhl/video/~2935597
  3. Dreger days we offered as high as 5 Whine about Zadorov all you want, he chose to walk
  4. Wouldn't be surprised to see them make another final sooner than later, they're well run
  5. Full disclosure, every time I think of this guy I hear "John Marino" in my head to the tune of "my sharona"
  6. Yeah, idk what they're gonna do with Necas now unless it's for more established prospects
  7. Devils building a D factory
  8. Yup. The numbers are there for anyone to see, I went and got em. I corrected my mistake about the 21-22 Flames too. I said Zadorov ranked 6th, which he did, but left Stone's name up there too. Technically he ranked 7th, Zadorov Averaged 16:55 but Stone actually averaged more time on ice than Zadorov did with 17:27, but he only played 11 games. Amongst regulars he was 6th. Cherry on top, our own stats from this past season. Zadorov averaged 17:04, which places him as 6th in averge ATOI for D regulars behind Hughes, Hronek, Myers, Soucy, and Cole. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/VAN/2024.html
  9. Zadorov doesn't have a track record of being a top 4D on teams with a strong defense, the numbers don't bear that out. His ice time throughout his tenure in Calgary, who had a superior D at the time, indicated he was a 5. 21-22, Zadorov ranked 6th in ATOI for Calgary D regulars behind Andersson, Hanifin, Tanev, Kylington, and Gudbranson. Averaged 16:55. Stone actually averaged more time on ice than Zadorov did too with 17:27, but he only played 11 games. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/CGY/2022.html 22-23, he ranked 5th behind Andersson, Hanifin, Tanev, and Weegar. Averaged 18:41. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/CGY/2023.html Even this past season he ranked 5th in ATOI for Calgary D regulars behind Andersson, Hanifin, Tanev, and Weegar. Averaged 18:24. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/CGY/ Zadorov topped out as having the 3rd highest ATOI amongst D regulars on a lousy Blackhawks team behind Keith and Murphy. Averaged 19:12. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/CHI/2021.html Go back to 19-20 with the Avs and he ranked 5th in ATOI amongst D regulars behind Girard, Johnson, Makar, and Graves. And even then, he only beat out the 6th ranked guy in coal by 4 seconds. Zadorov averaged 17:46 while Cole averaged 17:42. https://www.hockey-reference.com/teams/COL/2020.html
  10. They won a cup, that changes everything. With the cap jumps over the next while it probably won't be long til this is more common. The difference is they're all likely making less than Barkov's 10M. No 11+, 12+, 13M forwards. We'll see what they do with Ekblad, it was never a guarantee he'd be extended anyway. Maybe 8.5M and 9.5M on the high end, but it should be in that range.
  11. To early to say. If we sign Dillon for example, the size and whatnot are replaced. Just because Zadorov is moving on doesn't necessarily mean management won't find guys who bring some of the elements he brought to the lineup. It's not unreasonable to believe that we could have a more complete defense featuring some of those elements. And yeah, that's playoffs, each series is a war and no single player can police the ice at all times. Fortunately the guys have some experience now, and management has plenty of experience in regards to the playoffs too. I understand that folks are upset about Zadorov walking but it really ain't the end of the world.
