  1. Pass, he's not an awful option but I'd prefer someone with more foot speed.
  2. I think we got the best of Joshua last season, the expectations would be that his level of play last season would be the norm (or higher depending on what he gets) going forward and I'm not convinced he's capable of that.
  3. I'd let him walk, but hey Something else to watch: Vancouver created an additional $4M of cap space by trading Ilya Mikheyev to Chicago. Dakota Joshua remains an important target after a career-high 18-goal, 32-point season, and it is believed the Canucks re-engaged attempts to sign him as the trade occurred. We will see where that takes us. https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/oilers-expected-to-allow-gm-ken-hollands-contract-to-expire/
  4. Stenlund and Duhaime would be my gets, getting them both is probably financial viable. I like Martinook and Amadio too but I think they'll cost too much.
  5. No doubt, they've probably got a number of contingency plans like every other front office. I think they'll miss out on Guentzel but I think they'll be better for it. Even if they can get a legitimate second liner for Pettersson that's an upgrade on Mikheyev, who was a middle six tweener at best.
  6. I doubt he'll be traded, Carolina typically doesn't like giving big money and term to older players but they seem to be intent on retaining him I think they'll ultimately meet his ask
  7. Yeah, if. Got a crystal ball? The alternative to occasionally using high picks so we'll have our own higher end ELC talents is close but no cigar?
  8. That's one of my few concerns of having Rutherford at the helm
  9. One team wins a season, I don't think my frustration is unwarranted That's the hope, they've been putting resources into it, time will tell
  10. Sure, there are other approaches too, but we should be balancing shipping out high picks with actually using them too.
  11. You're not wrong. Gillis was lousy at drafting, Benning tried but was overall underwhelming, he always traded picks to try and fast track the youth movement. Allvin's made a couple very good first round picks but has a track record of shipping them out. Second rounders too. My concern is they're going to keep shipping them out to get and squeeze a cup out of this window at the expense of the future. I'd rather them balance actually balance using their picks with shipping them out. I get shipping them out to try and go deep, but use some of them too for Christ's sake.
  12. Historically? Yeah. But I've actually liked the picks we've made under Allvin, it's unfortunate that we don't make more high picks given they've revamped the scouting and development aspects of the organization.
  13. He is, but playoff run or not I reckon he's more of a backup than a starter, guess we'll see how things go And I get it, it's just frustrating, this franchise has an unfortunate track record of frittering away 2nd rounders
  14. Sure, and the best way to get top end talent is to draft it. Outside of Willander, Lekkerimaki, Raty, and maybe Pettersson there's a dearth of blue chip talent in the system. Like I said, gonna need that ELC talent as time goes on.
  15. Alright Allvin, don't fuck up and sign someone you'll have to pay a 2nd to dump later
  16. Pretty solid odds, all the more reason to actually use them more regularly We're going to need young ELC talent coming in as time goes on, can't just ignore drafting and developing the next wave
  17. The better question is how many second round picks have been selected and developed by a competent management group? Folks are quick to write off the value of 2nd rounders because of the franchises track record as if that track record couldn't be improved if we actually used them to pick players more regularly.
  18. They wanna do something else with the roster But yeah, I'm kinda tired of management dumping second rounders to buy their way out of their mistakes They already did this with Dickinson
  19. If he doesn't waive they'll just buy him out, putting him on waivers probably doesn't remove all his cap unless a teak wants him for free
  20. He'd still be staying in the lower mainland over Chicago in that case
