  1. I really like their throwback purple Duck jerseys from last season, wish they'd have stuck with those Those aside, these look better than the jerseys they've worn in recent years
  2. Yeah, Joshua is a guy management should probably be committed to allowing to walk. I like what he brought but he's probably going to be paid more than he should be via UFA, and Garland was the engine on that line. The overall package he brought this season is tough to replace, but there are players out there who could at least bring his physicality. And who's to say who else would gel with Garland.
  3. Not a bad idea, their cap would be a wash for the most part if Buffalo retained 50% on Skinner. It doesn't free up Mikheyev's cap but it does save us a buyout. The buyout would look better for Buffalo too, no question. Depends on whether they'd be willing to pay Skinner 4.5M in the first place though.
  4. Could be. I think the Canucks may be hard pressed to find their perfect fit when it comes to filling multiple roster holes, gonna be a lot of competition amongst teams for the guys who do hit the UFA market and we aren't guaranteed anyone. I think Skinner would probably do fine so long as his deployment is managed accordingly. You know he'll be motivated to play for a team that should be a playoff team too.
  5. On a short term deal, I think the Canucks need to take a hard look. A guy coming off a buyout may be willing to take less than your typical UFA and the Canucks are going to need to be very deliberate with their cap space if they want to flesh out multiple areas of the roster.
  6. I don't think we'll see as much of them, they may be attached to their alternates though, can't remember
  7. The second Utah signing in Vegas Golden Knights history
  8. He'd do well as a more sheltered offensive piece Something Tochett may need to come around to is that every player isn't going to be a great two-way player
  9. Seems like a lousy thing to do, they weren't complaining about it during the lean years when the team was mediocre
  10. They did wait too long, should have moved him at least a couple years ago We'll see what happens with him though, he deserves a shot elsewhere
  11. Weber's international resume is pretty impeccable and be was a top tier D most of his career, maybe he shouldn't be a first ballot guy but this ain't a participation medal for him
  12. In any case, there's only one Guentzel regardless of how many folks want him, and more than likely if he doesn't extend with the Canes he'll at least see what's out there in UFA. The odds of any team missing out on Guentzel are probably larger than the odds of them landing him. Seems unlikely he's flipped elsewhere at this point with July 1st right around the corner.
  13. Supposedly the Rangers are also interested in Guentzel, if there's anything to them finding a way to move Trouba it may not be farfetched Rangers gonna Ranger
  14. The old adage is that defense wins championships, the PK is a large piece of any team's defense. Yeah, the Oil may have a powerplay that's on the higher end for as long as McDavid's around, but teams typically don't go deep without a good penalty kill. Draisaitl and McDavid's next deals are looming in the not too distant future too, will the Oil be able to piece together a group that can put on this kind of defensive clinic again? Goaltending is voodoo too, will Skinner be able to maintain a high level of play long enough to reach another final? Lot of things have to go right, the Oil were almost there and they had a lot go right, but they couldn't get it done. This was without a doubt their best chance to get a cup and they came up just short. I expect they'll be in the playoffs next season, and a playoff regular going forward as they have been, but I'd be surprised if they made the final again sooner than later.
  15. Thing about the Oilers is there's a lot working against them getting back to the final sooner than later. Not only would McDavid probably need to replicate his ridiculous numbers, but the Oil would need to replicate their special teams as well. Their PK in particular was nuts, Statmuse has their PK at 94.3 percent throughout the playoffs, a significant jump from their regular season total of 79.5 percent. Factor in the fact they scored 3 shorthanded goals and that suddenly looks even better. That's incredibly tough to replicate. Their PK was actually the best ever, for a cup finalist, if I'm not mistaken. https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/highest-penalty-kill-percentage-in-season-in-history-of-nhl-playoffs https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask/highest-nhl-penalty-kill-percentage-playoffs-this-year
  16. With so many teams looking for a goalie it makes a lot of sense
  17. I don't think we're going to be able to afford Guentzel, I think there are a number of teams out there who'd happily give him what they want, without him needing to take some sort of discount Lot of teams interested
  18. You're probably not wrong, we'll see what happens with Zadorov though. In the end it may just end up being something similar to those three, the Canucks may opt to make do with mostly what they've already got up front or in the system. Boeser, Pettersson, Miller, Hoglander, possibly Garland. Maybe Lekkerimaki, Raty, or Podkolzin. If they opt to go after another RD instead of Myers, maybe that leaves him looking for a contract elsewhere though, absolutely. Not being able to move out Mikheyev without taking cap back in hurts their ability to address the top six though, even a buyout only gets them some of that space back. They may just have to live with that though, they shouldn't be paying picks to dump more cap.
