  1. I like that Stephenson can play as a center, but the big thing is both of these players lean towards being playmakers more than they do towards being shooters, which is something we need imo Boeser, Miller, and Pettersson all like to shoot the puck, if Lekkermaki cracks the lineup he probably will too Even Hoglander's point totals are skewed more towards goals We could absolutely use a guy who prefers to distribute the puck
  2. Fantastic news, I question the humanity of anyone who'd argue against such a program. Lot of kids grow up hungry, and going to school hungry absolutely affects one's ability to learn, amongst other psychological and physiological affects. Addressing food insecurity is a worthy pursuit. I grew up in a lower income household and regularly ate school lunches, sometimes it was the only option I had even if they didn't necessary taste great. Brown bag lunches were often pretty simple, but they beat going hungry.
  3. They were very close, they just happened to run into the President's Trophy winning Rangers backed by Shesterkin, who played extremely well. I watched a fair bit of that series, if not for Shesterkin the Canes move on. Lot of things have to go right to win a cup, them losing Pesce against the Isles didn't help them, nor did Andersen's uncharacteristically subpar tending. The criticism of the Canes the past couple playoffs prior to this one was they lacked scoring punch, they did actually try to address that. They went out and made a Guentzel trade we couldn't afford to, because they'd built up the sort of prospect depth we don't have. A Guentzel trade would have cost us a top prospect+ because our pool was shallower.
  4. They did as much as they could without giving up their 1st and top prospects They gave Pittsburgh three very solid prospects, a 2nd that could have turned into a 1st if they'd made the final, a 5th, and a serviceable scoring forward in Bunting Carolina is very well run, they draft well, they don't flippantly move out picks and prospects, they don't overpay, and they generally don't give term to older players I've criticized them in the past for not stepping off the fence, they did that this season, but even when they didn't they were still viewed as a contender
  5. How do you think they got Guentzel in the first place..? Not only did they give up Bunting (a solid player) and a 2nd, they gave up a couple young players who were also 2nd rounders And a 5th, and another player drafted in the 4th round They basically gave up three 2nd rounders+ for a guy they knew they weren't guaranteed to keep
  6. 23 goals and 44 points? Someone will take a flyer on him
  7. Vancouver's okay, I can see how it'd appeal to someone with money, there are better places to live though
  8. 2x2.5 https://www.nhl.com/penguins/news/penguins-re-sign-goaltender-alex-nedeljkovic-to-a-two-year-contract
  9. Odds are they do want to keep him, but it's not just about what Zadorov wants This is why they get paid the big bucks, managing term matters, sometimes it doesn't work out Sometimes it does, which is which depends on both sides At the end of the day the culture is built by the group
  10. Term may be the issue, depending on just how much he wants I do wonder if the Canucks would prefer less term than Zadorov
