  1. I don't think they'll be interested, and Dubois is like a rehabilitation attempt, I don't think Mikheyev being Russian will matter to them, so was Kuznetsov Caps were rumoured to be interested in Guentzel beforehand, they clearly changed directions
  2. Sometimes he seems to get in trouble simply because he's a taller guy, but yeah. He already knows the systems, he knows the coaching staff, he knows the players. He's a known quantity, a much better known quantity.
  3. Friedman was saying that teams are looking to give UFA's the Orlov offer, more money to cut down the term. He mentions Calgary and Utah possibly going this route, but I wonder if that may also be true in the case of Zadorov. 23:30. https://www.sportsnet.ca/590/jeff-marek-show/the-latest-with-elliotte-friedman-breaking-down-the-blockbusters/
  4. Myers is also in a different tier, even as a third pairing D. He's a guy with extensive experience playing top four minutes, which is useful when injuries strike (and they will). It's unlikely we get a better quality third/second pairing tweener for less than Myers would be willing to take. Plus, he's a known quantity, and Bear was always more of a third pairing guy at best to begin with.
  5. If he's bought out that's probably not far off, I'd put him in the 4.5-5.5M range on a 2-3 year deal. He still put up top six production last season, he's just not worth 9M.
  6. I think there's a chance they may have to just live with the contract, absolutely. What that means is they'd probably have to look at paying someone a lesser cap hit to play with Pettersson, which likely takes Guentzel off the table. But that's fine, there are other forwards out there. If it doesn't work, well, Mikheyev would probably be easier to move next offseason with a single year remaining.
  7. "After speaking to multiple sources on Wednesday, there is widespread belief that Barclay Goodrow had included the Sharks on his 15-team, no-trade list that GM Chris Drury got around by placing No. 21 on waivers, where San Jose exercised the first claim to take the two-time Cup-winner." "We’ve been told by several folks that Goodrow — who scored six goals in 16 postseason matches after recording four in 80 games during the regular season — is not happy about how this went down." https://nypost.com/2024/06/19/sports/why-rangers-chris-drury-waiving-barclay-goodrow-was-cold-blooded/
  8. That's definitely a risk, no doubt.
  9. Utah's also in a position of being a relocation franchise enterting it's first season, they're going to want to have positive results and something to sell the fans. Utah will be in tough to grab a divisional spot in their first season, unfortunately for them the top end central teams are kind of monstrous. But as I said, if they're wise with who they bring in and how they play things they could be competitive. Guentzel would also be something to sell to their new fanbase. Although I do think there's a chance a Pittsburgh reunion happens, they'd have to ship out Smith somehow though, maybe even someone else. It'd be tight.
  10. Maybe, but money talks. And I do think there's a chance Utah could be competitive sooner than later if they play their cards right. They're in a unique position with that cap space, their haul of picks, their prospect pool, and some of the young talent already in place on the roster. Get them a good coaching staff and who knows.
  11. I think there's a serious chance one of Utah, Anaheim, or Chicago would be willing to overpay Guentzel, all have a hefty amount of cap space. Chicago would get him for Bedard, Anaheim wants a top six forward to take some of the load away from the youth, and Utah has a whopping 43.5M in cap space available. Chicago's and Anaheim are closer to 33M in open cap space.
  12. I do think he'll garner quite a bit of interest, if I had to guess I'd say that Anaheim, Chicago, Carolina, Vancouver, Utah, Nashville, Seattle, and Detroit will probably have interest. I'd list Buffalo, Pittsburgh (if they can ship out Smith), St. Louis, Boston, and LA as maybe's.
  13. Agreed, if it turns out the best option is buy out Mikheyev that may even be curtains for Zadorov in Vancouver. There are other D options out there.
  14. Where's Zadorov? That fourth line looks questionable, Duhaime is a solid get but I question Karlsson.
  15. We also need another top 4D, even if Zadorov is retained. Right now our top four looks like Hughes, Hronek, and Soucy, and only one of them plays the right side. They could bring back Myers, but he's probably better served on the third pairing.
  16. It just shaves roughly a million off their flex this offseason, which isn't insignificant. It hurts more next offseason because it'll eat into any cap increase. But ultimately, a pretty small amount of dead cap 3/4 years. If a buyout were used to secure Zadorov it could easily be the difference between their being able to chase Guentzel or another top four D or not imo.
  17. Probably. I know they've got dead cap to navigate already, but depending on the price they may simply have to use the buyout route for the second offseason in a row. Mikheyev's buyout looks like.. 1.15M 2.15M 1.55M 1.55M
  18. Not surprising, but not exactly encouraging. Probably not much, all he can really do is try talking to the management of other teams or the player and simply relay it back to Canucks management. If their recent track record is any indication Canucks management has probably put in quite a bit of legwork looking for potential trade scenarios. I'd assume Millstein's already talked to Mikheyev about his clause, players don't typically seem to want to stay where they aren't wanted. I think it'll ultimately boil down the the Canucks paying up or the price coming down.
  19. Tkachuk is likely as untouchable as anyone on the Sens roster
