  1. Maybe not, Goodrow has a 15-team NTC and the Sharks were probably on it. I'm assuming this is an end result Goodrow probably didn't want, but the Rags needed the space so they made it happen with San Jose. Sharks get a serviceable player they're familiar with for free, given their whack of cap space they probably don't care about him being overpaid as much. Bringing back a former fan favourite is one way to garner favour from a fanbase that just watched a season of miserable hockey.
  2. More than likely Goodrow had the Sharks on his NTC list, this was probably the workaround
  3. If that happens I'll be reaaally interestd in seeing what the cost ultimately is Mikheyev eats up a not insignificant amount of space We'll probbably just have to agree to disagree, I don't really view Zadorov as a skill guy His bread and butter is playing steady defense, providing a physical element, and providing an intimidation factor Any offense from him is likely complimentary the way Myer's offense is complimentary, if his track record over the past three years is anything to go off he probably offers up 20ish points I'm not opposed to retaining him, I'd just prefer the term to be medium term as opposed to long term
  4. Wouldn't surprise me, but any divisional spot is nothing to sniff at imo Go back a couple years and folks around here would have been thrilled with a wildcard spot Probably, which is why I'm not really expecting it, they'll probably need one of the teams ahead of them to start declining as they begin to rise It'll probably end up being Vegas Though they'll likely have to compete with Anaheim for that opening, I do believe they'll be a wagon at some point
  5. Stars 2018 13OA pick, wonder if he requested a trade. He'll be 24 in July.
  6. Ahh yes, the domino we've been waiting for post-Hronek signing. I kid, he's solid depth.
  7. Mmm, could just be different expriences. I've always found Edmonton fans to be much more annoying, whereas I enjoyed our rivalry with Calgary more when both teams were sorta good. I think they'll retool just fine, but I think they're probably still a ways out from being more than maybe a playoff hopeful. I like their approach to retooling though, certainly.
  8. I think they could be, but they'd have to beat out one of Vancouver, Edmonton, LA, and Vegas, all of which I could see making the playoffs I am expecting some regression for us though
  9. It's not that, I just generally don't care for term that takes players into their later 30's. A deal that takes Zadorov to say.. 34? Yeah, that's not so bad. I'd rather pay more per year to have that happen.
  10. Part of it with both teams if their fanbases and their media bits. As far as actual players on Toronto, I don't care for the most part. Edmonton? The McDavid bit is like having Crosby and Ovechkin shoved in my face all the time back in the day, but that's the NHL doing it's marketing thing and I get it. Helluva talent though. But yeah, I won't root for either of them. Toronto fans are almost as obnoxious as their media most of the time, same goes for Oil fans. And I say that while recognizing that a lot of folks also find the Canucks fanbase rabid and obnoxious.
  11. That stands out, for sure. The only two Canadian teams I reallllllly don't like are Edmonton and Toronto.
  12. Same, not my thing But as an organization and team, I don't mind em That's not too bad, only a couple more seasons
  13. Here's hoping, 4-5 years is what they should be aiming for. 6 at most, and even that's probably too much.
  14. I don't mind Calgary tbh, even when they were good they weren't nearly as obnoxious as Edmonton and their fans.
  15. That's a pretty solid return, I like Calgary's approach to retooling. Bang on, there's no reason they couldn't be competitive next season. Probably not a playoff team, but competitive. It really depends on who they're able to reel in via UFA or trade.
  16. Absolutely, and it is. Hanifin is the most recent comparable for Hronek, despite being an LD, and he got 8x7.35M
  17. Exactly. This will get some folks upset, sure, but it'll wash away and life will go on. I dunno, I understand folks saying this will piss off the folks who'd normally support them, but I reckon a lot of the folks with somewhat similar views will probably still agree with the cause even if they find some of the methods questionable. I think that part is why doing no actual permanent harm is so important. Something like this is going to get publicity at the end of the day, waving flags and chanting in a square, maybe not so much. I understand why a more radical approach is considered. If nothing else, it's gotten people talking.
  18. Supposedly the extension will be around 8x6.5M https://www.sportsnet.ca/podcasts/32-thoughts/the-rat-pack-is-dragged-back-to-edmonton/
  19. Probably the smart way to go about it, there's any publicity is good publicity and then there's actively making enemies. It's not about destroying x or y, it's about the publicity. They'll get whatever punishment they get, but their actions are still drawing attention to their cause I'd reckon.
  20. It's pretty nuts, like him or not that's an impressive feat.
  21. He's not worth 9M, certainly, but he still put up 2nd line production this season He'd be worth it for many a team if he's bought out and hits UFA, on a short-term, lower money sort of deal 4.5-5.5M would probably be a fair range, and he could potentially outproduce his cap hit
