  1. With Hronek now signed it's hard to see us making a deal with them now
  2. As for the deal, falls in line with Hanifin, that's fine But RIP my Hronek for Iginla dream
  3. One less thing to argue about, tragic We'll find something though, I believe in us
  4. Nearly a month and roughly 150 pages later and the thread still looks the same
  5. Probably. I do think we need to be looking to add another top 4RD somehow, that'd balance our top 4 better imo. I've been a proponent of keeping Myers, but while I think he can play top 4 minutes (or closer to them) when injuries strike he's probably better suited to be a third pairing guy at this point. That alone will probably cost us one of Zadorov or Joshua imo. I think Hronek's probably further up on the priority list as far as signings go. Lose Hronek and suddenly you're fishing for two top 4RD. Which is actually doable this offseason, but UFA offers few guarantees. Management worked to upgrade our D last season and it was a big part of our success, it'd be surprising if they don't try and do it again.
  6. I will say that if they are planning to go after Guentzel it'll be interesting to see how that ultimately affects their roster Cap went up but we've already got some question marks in Zadorov, Hronek, Joshua, and so on Moving Mikheyev would help, but I'm assuming management would tinker eith the roster further if the past couple seasons are any indication Depending on the cost to move cap, Mikheyev may even stay I do think we should be looking to add another top 4RD
  7. Yeah, that's my mistake, I was going off the names you went with and not the rosters. My preference would still be to spread the cap around more amongst the forward group though, but that's my vision of what the Canucks should do up front.
  8. There's a good chance we will though, but on D, whether that's Hronek or someone else as our top pairing RD. Could even be Trouba (with retention). Most of those examples only had a couple higher paid forwards. Probably, but what "big" ends up being is open to interpretation I suppose. Eh, I don't think Suter belongs in the top six. I'd rather having something better than "ok" in that spot. Suter is just fine as a third liner, but that's where he should be.
  9. You'd be better off asking @HKSR because I hate numbers and he plays with them as a job
  10. The teams that tend to get further have some really solid depth at all positions, I'd rather try and emulate that than being more top heavy. Depth isn't a guarantee, but it's not a coincidence that teams that have been going deeper of late like Dallas, Colorado, Vegas, and Tampa all had some very solid forward depth. Florida is a finalist with good forward depth as well, Edmonton certainly tried with the Carrick and Henrique acquisitions.
  11. He'd be a good fourth liner at that price. Good size, lot of playoff experience, couple of cup rings with Tampa, hits a decent amount.
  12. Agreed. He'd be interesting with either Miller or Pettersson. Games played the past three seasons have been 80, 79, and 74.
  13. I totally get that, I dunno, I'm just not as keen on chasing him. It's not that I don't think he couldn't age well, although I'm firmly established in my stance of not liking contracts that go into a player's later 30's, but I'd prefer to build overall team depth. Thing is, when you're chasing UFA's you're likely giving out term to higher end players, so it's really a pick your poison sort of deal. It's hard to find players who surpass their cap hit. I think the question is more what do they want from their forward group? Personally, I'd be interested in Stephenson due to his being more of a playmaker. 64, 65, and 51 points the past three seasons but his assist totals have been 43, 49, and 35. I think we could benefit from having another puck distributor up front, particularly if we want Pettersson shooting more. If we can move out Mikheyev something like Stephenson and one of Tarasenko, Teravainen, Skinner, Toffoli, Drouin, and Monahan would be interesting. Hell, Perron on a one year deal might not be so bad. Foegle, Duclair, Sprong, and maybe Dubrusk could potentially be options too.
  14. That's a fair point, their D group wasn't exactly impressive. I could def see them being a team that goes after Zadorov if he hits UFA, Col wouldn't surprise me either. It'd be funny if their D core wound up looking like that, but I could see it. I think they'd be hard pressed to find a younger, higher end RD than Hronek via trade or UFA. He should absolutely be the kind of player they're looking for, assuming we aren't willing to pay him. Utah will want to have the success Seattle and Vegas did, though they were expansion teams as opposed to relocation. Still, hitting the ground running and at least being competitive in their first season will be important for Utah.
  15. He'd probably take less for a top end team too, Skinner was the first player to hit 1k regular season games without making the playoffs.
  16. Honestly, at a lower cap hit he'd still probably be a good get for someone, he's just not worth 3.6M to a Rangers team that needs to find some cap space. Odds are he goes unclaimed and they either buy him out or pay to flip him.
  17. Some folks are, I don't want him. I didn't want him at the deadline either. I'd rather spend the cap/money it'd take to reel him in on a couple players instead. He's a top end talent, no doubt, but I dunno. I'd rather grab a couple good, but not great, players than go after Guentzel. One of th things I took from this past playoff run is we'd have been better served having better forward depth in our top six. I'd rather grab a good top six player and either a third liner or a middle six tweener, not all tweeners are as hopeless as Mikheyev was, we did quite well with Higgins for example.
  18. Not sure about the wheels, but he's still producing, just not at a 9M cap hit level. A buyout would break down like this for the Buffalo. 1.4M 4.4M 6.4M 2.4M 2.4M 2.4M If the cap jumps the way it's supposed to that 6.4M could be the only year that realllly hurts, 4/6 years are quite manageable. It really depends on how Buffalo wants to drive that team forward, assuming they're viewing his cap space as wasted cap space. If he could be had via UFA on a shorter-term, lower money deal he'd likely garner quite a bit of interest.
  19. 24 goals and 22 assists this season, respectable but not quite what you want from a 9M player. 35 goals and 47 assists the season before, 33 and 30 the season before that.
  20. Doesn't sound like they'll want to give up anything if they're willing to buy him out
