  1. That'd make a lot of sense, him and Skjei are likely keepers Carolina is generally cagey around vets but if they're going to keep a couple D it may as well be them
  2. Wouldn't surprise me, but moving Pettersson for Necas+ would have been a good trade for them, despite the guff Pettersson has gotten post-playoffs. It could also be they have similar concerns regarding Hronek as some of the posters around here, or that they're more interested in other RD. Their right side is in flux, Pesce may be gone and Burns will be up after this season (though he may be extended if he continues to be effective), but that also opens up an opportunity for a younger RD such as Morrow. They could also take a look at Heimosalmi. Orlov and Slavin are up after this coming season too, though I expect Slavin will be retained the same way Skjei will probabl be retained. Canes don't currently have any commitments on D, and while that may worry some Cane fans if also means they've got a fair bit of flexibility. It's not as if Hronek is the only RD option out there who might be dangled for Necas, seems like half the league has checked in on him.
  3. I wouldn't be surprised to see Carolina deal with Buffalo, or see the Sabres extend Necas If the Canes want picks and prospects so as to free up cap space than Buffalo has em
  4. I'd be fine with any of those players on a shorter term deal tbh
  5. They've got nearly 34M to play with and not exactly a bunch of guys jumping out as guys who definitely need to be extended. If they're willing to overpay him it's not as if they don't have the cap/contract flexibility to do it.
  6. Doesn't hurt to wait, this season could be a high water mark, lot of things went right. I'd be surprised if he doesn't end up being extended but I'd be a little surprised if he gets a second extension, coaches are hired to be fired and more often than not they've got a shelf life.
  7. Maybe, could see the Jets asking for a young NHL player tbh, they'd have to wait on a pick/prospect depending on who the prospect is They did well getting Vilardi in the Dubois trade for example
  8. Dunno, apparently Green and Tochett are pals and they think hockey in a similar way, I'm more than willing to give him a fair shot in Ottawa. It's not as if he had a lot to work with during his tenure here.
  9. I guess Chicago has the cap to overpay him and not really care a whole lot about it, him and Bedard would be something to watch
  10. He's a talented skill player, be interesting to see what he ends up going for
  11. He's capable of being a top flight tender, be nice to see him get a chance elsewhere.
  12. Depends on what he wants, but he likely won't come cheap. If Florida wins they probably won't care all that much, here's hoping they do.
  13. They'd like to move Korpisalo and Tkachuk isn't available? Shocking. A Chychrun trade seems inevitable.
  14. The Suhr performances are some of his best and I've seen Big Wreck live 3-4 times
  15. That'd be great too, we just really need some homegrown guys to take steps forward and become diffence makers imo
  16. I get it, but we really need him to develop into a legit top six guy imo He had a good year but he's gotta build on it imo
  17. Goes to explain some of his play, overall he had a good season for us
  18. Could be something there, Marner might enjoy a less rabid market like Anaheim His point totals might take a hit but he'd have lots of young talent to play with
  19. https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2922650/report-ducks-listening-on-zegras-offers Anaheim Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek is listening to trade offers for star forward Trevor Zegras, sources told The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. Verbeek reportedly brought up Zegras in trade talks this season, and discussions have resurfaced with the offseason around the corner, LeBrun notes. Zegras notched 15 points in just 31 games this campaign. The supremely skilled 23-year-old is under contract for two more seasons at a cap hit of $5.75 million before hitting restricted free agency for a second time. Although he wasn't specifically talking about a potential return for Zegras, Verbeek recently revealed he's looking to add experience to a young Ducks team next campaign. "I'd like to add a couple more veteran pieces to the group," Verbeek said. "I'd like to find a top-six winger, and I'd like to find a top-four defenseman. You know, 31 other teams could say the same thing, right?" Verbeek added: "I'm trying to make our lineup deeper while having the younger kids gain more experience, learn from veteran players, and not have to bear the burden of producing offensively." The Ducks finished 30th in the league standings this season with 59 points and missed the playoffs for a sixth consecutive year. Zegras has been considered a cornerstone of Anaheim's rebuild since being drafted ninth overall in 2019. The New York native has 154 points in 211 games with the Ducks and placed runner-up for the Calder Trophy in his rookie season before notching a career-high 65 points in 2022-23.
