  1. Done, they've got a bushel of picks and I'd welcome them. Doubt they'd move out Durzi, but I'd certainly be interested in Geekie, Guenther, But, and Simashev.
  2. That would be a better approach, yes. I'm loathe to move out any more 1sts.
  3. Not interested in giving up yet another 1st, we need to bolster the prospect pool at the 2025 draft. I'd rather go after someone via UFA. I'd maybe bump Podkolzin up to Hoglander and offer them a 2nd, though I do hate how frequently we move out 2nd's. Karlsson is a throw in anyway, maybe dangle Klimovich or Bains.
  4. PITB makes some good points, arbitration would probably favour Hronek over the Canucks and the Canucks even getting to arbitration means they've lost because arbitration deals can only be 1-2 years, which walks him to UFA. If his agent is using Sergachev and Trouba as comparables suddenly his ask doesn't seem so ridiculous. They're also right that an arbitration case could make him tougher to trade.
  5. Doesn't really sound like Carolina's ask is something the Canucks should be meeting, it's not as if we've got a whole lot of top prospects. It's basically Willander and Lekkerimaki, plus we've moved out this year's 1st. I don't imagine Podkolzin would tick the box, he's got a lot to prove, so does Raty. Hoglander had a good year but he's still got to prove he can do it again, Carolina might have interest there. If we aren't sending them Hronek I question the value that we would be willing to send, there are probably better trade partners out there for Carolina if they're set on moving Necas. We're going to need each of those players on ELC's.
  6. Yeah, I'd rather not follow the Oilers model of hiring a bunch of ex-players more than we have.
  7. Think what you want, I view him as a guy who's generally pretty well connected even if this is more speculative on his part.
  8. Jersey was supposedly going to circle around on Markstrom after the season so it wouldn't be shocking

I'd be curious to hear it, that's been VIHA's reputation amongst several of those I've gone to school with over the years
  10. No doubt, there could be some good forwards who drop Teams are more and more willing to take D high in recent years it seems
  11. I'm kinda hoping the Flames find a way to land him, it'd be weird to see an Iginla elsewhere At the same time I'm kinda glad we're not drafting high for once, I just hope we pick in the first round again next draft
  12. I really wish we had a 1st with which to draft him, maybe management will surprise He's gonna be a stud player like his dad, maybe not a hall of famer like his dad but likely a very good player

It's a weird thing, it's also weird going back and seeing what's changed. Time marches on without us, we all know this, but sometimes it's a little unnerving to see it in person. Might be sooner than later, hopefully on a few years, my fourth year practicum will be done through Northern Health which is basically the VIHA equivalent up here, there's a good chance I might end up working for them too. There seems to be no shortage of work for social workers, but getting experience in a place where there's less competition for jobs would only make the transition easier. It's probably easier to jump health authorities than it is to initially get in down there too, I've always heard the with VIHA you need to know someone.

I was down on the island for a couple weeks and now I'm back in Dawson Creek, today it's sinking in that I'm living somewhere I don't want to be again. Happens every time I leave and come back, I'm not happy here. I never wanted to leave despite knowing it's the move that makes the most sense in the short to medium term. For some people home can be a person, but for me home has always been a place.
  15. I think he gets in eventually, he doesn't have the hardware but he's got the numbers
  16. Fuck em, rooting for the Panthers. Although while we'd never hear the end of it it'd be sorta neat if a Canadian team finally won. That's the only silver lining to the Oil winning though.
  17. We needed at least one top six winger heading into the playoffs, management opted for a center in Lindholm. Lindholm wound up playing well come playoff time but I dunno, maybe we'd have been better adding more punch on the wing. We still need a top six player up front, having three top six guys down the middle wasn't ever likely to be a thing long-term. Hoglander had himself a good season, but whether he builds on it is anyone's guess. Mikheyev may bounce back but that's a gamble. Garland could be promoted, but then the third line may end up lacking. Tough decisions for management going forward.
  18. The Vancouver Canucks acquire it, trade up further, and draft Iginla We throw the twins into a fountain of youth and finally get to play them alongside Iginla, albeit the wrong Iginla
