  1. Rangers or Florida imo, I don't think the Bruins have the guns to stop New York Could see any of Dallas, Vegas, or Colorado coming out of the west
  2. They are volatile, their special teams in the first round make them even more unpredictable. I think their PK was what.. 12/12 while their powerplay went 9/20? I'd be surprised if the Oil don't get their share of powerplays, this series will probably be more open than our series against Nashville, or their series against LA. Goaltending is a wildcard for both clubs imo, neither DeSmith or Silovs are Demko, and Skinner has shown he can be both shaky and lights out. Silovs has looked very good but he's still inexperienced at the NHL level, either tender stumbling could be the difference maker.
  3. Andersen hasn't been as sharp as he was down the stretch, he'll need to be sharper than he was against the Isles if the Canes are going to get to the conference final
  4. The Rangers have scored more powerplay goals in this game than Toronto did in a seven game series
  5. Hope the Flames get him, it'd be weird seeing him anywhere else Time flies though, we've gone from watching Jarome rattle off 30 goal season after 30 goal season to seeing his son step into the league
  6. He's still a very good defensive player despite his age, but he seems out of place as a finalist "The rugged veteran was a key cog in Carolina's No. 1-ranked penalty kill, logging the most shorthanded minutes of the team's forwards. Staal also ranked sixth among full-time centers in defensive goals above replacement and fourth in faceoff percentage among players who took at least 1,000 draws this campaign. He took the ninth-most defensive zone draws in the NHL but ranked second among all skaters in five-on-five shot-attempt percentage." https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2907073/barkov-matthews-staal-named-selke-trophy-finalists
  7. Panthers in six, goaltending gets Boston a couple wins
  8. As for Pettersson, he'll need to improve if he wants to win a Selke, but he took steps Averaged 1:22 a night of PK, blocked 68 shots Only 50 takeaways though https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask?q=elias+petterson+takeaways+2023-2024 He'll also need to take and win more draws, this season was an improvement but we'll see if it's a new norm or not going forward Pettersson won 406 and lost 393, Barkov won 630 and lost 470 I'm a little shocked Kopitar or O'Reilly weren't nominated instead of Staal, Staal's a real headscratcher
  9. Moreso than folks give him credit for tbh, not enough to win though Barkov averaged nearly two minutes of PK time a game, Staal averaged just over two minutes, Matthews averaged just under a minute Reinhart actually PK'd more than Matthews, averaging just over two minutes a night while putting up 50+ goals Matthews was the forward with the most shot blocks though if I'm not mistaken, with 93, as well as one of the better faceoff guys in the league with 705 wins and a 53.45% He was also second in takeaways this season with 85 https://www.statmuse.com/nhl/ask?q=2023-2024+nhl+takeaway+leaders https://www.quanthockey.com/nhl/seasons/nhl-forwards-stats.html Thing is, he doesn't PK as much as the others, which is probably why he'll lose to Barkov
  10. Barkov's gonna step in and rattle off a few more Selke wins, he's the guy to beat going forward Maybe Hischier gets back into the mix too if he can stay healthy, Pettersson may get one down the road too Wouldn't be shocked to see Kopitar win another
  11. Too bad for him, he was one of the few bright spots for the Leafs this series, but he's been their best playoff forward for a while now
  12. Dude knows he's being fired and he's going down swinging Not that he cares, he knows Dubas has a spot for him in Pittsburgh
  13. Babcock: I want them to know it was me Funny that Cooper's involved too
  14. The Bruins have won each of the last seven playoff series against the Maple Leafs dating back to the 1969 QF (4-0 BOS) and are one of three teams to win seven consecutive playoff series against one franchise. The others: Montreal against Boston (18 from 1946 to 1987) and Penguins vs Capitals (7 from 1995 to 2017). https://media.nhl.com/public/live-updates?date=2024-05-04
  15. They lose Matthews, force game seven without him, and then lose once he returns to the lineup Couldn't script it any funnier if they'd tried
  16. It'll probably be Matthews, he's never won it and this is his third nomination
  17. Those of you who've clowned on him, put respect on Myer's name
