What I'm taking from this is that Horvat's been a great fit with Barzal, as several folks thought he'd be Another takeaway is that Ek is practically untouchable as far as the Wild go, not that that's surprising It's neat to see the Habs having a young line like that so high up, they could be fun to watch going forward as they try to climb out of their rebuild -

They're not, which isn't to disparage either player. Demko was drafted 36OA, he was almost in late 1st territory. He was compared to Cory Schneider, who was a top notch tender in New Jersey at the time. He's a prime example of why holding onto 2nd round picks and using them to draft players is important.

We've got Tolopilo as well but he's 24, but I agree that we could certainly use young blue chip goaltending prospect in the pipeline. Same goes for a young blue chip center, the closest thing we have to such a player is Raty. Hopefully next season we hold on to our 1st and use it to draft a center.

Yup, and that's not even a negative take, it's just the numbers. Which isn't to say DeSmith can't play well and that the Canucks can't win, goaltending is just a critical position in pro hockey. Demko is one of the best goaltenders in the league when healthy, but in recent years he's been injured more, which could be cause for concern going forward.

That's concerning for both the short and long-term, knees are huge for a tender Demko's got two years remaining on his deal, gotta wonder about his health going forward and how that may affect any extension
