  1. You are happy with a winger whose upside is middle six winger at best, who are a dime a dozen, that's fine. Me with a late third rounder, I would shoot for a top pairing offensive D-man if he was still on the board as Aron was. They are the most valuable commodity in the NHL. You seem so concerned about size. He is same height and weight as Quinn while still being only 18 years old. The Wild got two steals. First with Buium at 14. Best all around D-man in the draft. And Aron.
  2. All these kids are lottery tickets. Even some of the first rounders. If Aron does not get anymore injuries I can guarantee you he will play in the NHL one day. That's the risk. Not his skill or hockey IQ which are both high level. At our pick there were no forwards with top line upside. With Aron you have top pairing upside. For a late third round pick, high risk, high reward, what more can you ask for. And you know what you can't teach, an overwhelming desire to succeed. How many kids walked up and told the GM who drafted them, they are gonna prove all the doubters wrong.
  3. North American players between the age of 18-20 years old are eligible for the draft. https://www.usahockey.com/nhldraft So I believe he has one more year of draft eligibility.
  4. He definitely had the highest upside of any prospect at that stage of the draft. Most of the scouting organisations had him as a late first to sometime in the second. For sure he is a high risk, however he is very high reward. I had Romani as a late third, early fourth myself. As for Shuravin, he is a decent prospect. I respect the hockey writers as reasonable gauge of talent. One that you can access most of the prospects that are worth considering. https://thehockeywriters.com/matvei-shuravin-2024-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ https://thehockeywriters.com/aron-kiviharju-2024-nhl-draft-prospect-profile/ " Kiviharju's potential really hinges on his health. If he continues to have injury problems over the next couple of seasons, his most important developmental years, it will stunt his growth. That could lower his projection to a top four defenseman, but his skill set suggests there is plenty more to his game and he could turn into a number 2 defenseman on a contender. He just needs to stay healthy. That's why he is a high risk high reward player " People are talking about taking high risk, high reward players at this stage of the draft. They don't come much higher reward than a top pairing offensive D-man.
  5. Have you followed his career ? If you have, you would know that him being fired up about being drafted late is not the best thing going for him. As a quite a few scouting reports noted, he is one of the best passers and smartest hockey minds in this draft. Up until the start of this season he was rated a top five prospect. It was an injury that derailed his season. People talk about taking high risk, high reward players at that stage of the draft. His ceiling is a top pairing offensive D-man. We will see if he achieves that. Barring injury I am a believer.
  6. Don't care about politics or who owns what land anymore. Read this article and weep my friend. https://www.newyorker.com/news/dispatch/the-children-who-lost-limbs-in-gaza UNICEF estimates that a thousand children in Gaza have become amputees since the conflict began in October. " This is the largest cohort of paediatric amputees in history, " Ghassan Abu-Sittah a London based plastic surgeon who specialises in paediatric trauma told me recently. " He spent 43 days in Gaza back in October - November. At one stage he didn't leave the operating room for three days. Up to six amputations a day. Think about that. The largest group of child amputees in a few months in history. Read on and bear witness to their stories. As horrific as they are we must not turn away.
  7. Good Hockey Writers article about what Jake will bring to our team. https://thehockeywriters.com/canucks-debrusk-signing-good-move/ Very happy with picking up Jake. Gotta a feeling this is going to turn into a bargain contract, and more importantly, he will improve our team in both the regular season and the playoffs.
  8. And even if you don't get much of the vote, a third party candidate can get shit done if the work hard enough. Nader's work, testifying before Congress, organising letter writing and citizen protests, drafting legislation were key elements in getting up the Clean Water Act, the Foreign Corrupt Practices act, The Whistler Blower act, The Consumer Product Safety act and the Freedom of Information act. And this article dispels the myth that Nader cost Gore the Election in 2000. https://reason.com/2016/08/03/ralph-nader-did-not-hand-2000-election/
  9. For where he was picked, this is gonna be the absolute steal of the draft. https://hockeywilderness.com/news-rumors/minnesota-wild/watch-fourth-rounder-kiviharju-to-guerin-you-just-got-the-steal-of-the-draft-r30121/ And I freakin love those were his first words to Bill Guerin , " You just made the (bleep) best steal of the draft. People say that he is small, according to elite prospects he is 5'10" 185 Ib's. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/526036/aron-kiviharju According to elite prospects Quinn Hughes is 5'10" 181 Ib's. https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/201671/quinn-hughes The Draft combine had him at 5'9.5" 184Ib's https://thehockeywriters.com/2024-nhl-combine-heights-and-weights/ I am willing to bet that Aron is gonna make 31 GM's regret they didn't take him. He would have been my pick at our pick. Hands down the best prospect, potential wise, at that stage of the draft.
  10. A story of compassion. That could date back as far as over 250,000 years ago. https://www.goodnewsnetwork.org/fossil-of-neanderthal-child-with-downs-syndrome-hints-at-early-humans-compassion/
  11. Detroit places a claim on Brian Dumoulin
  12. Yes, picking up Chernyshov or Artamonov with that 28th would have been nice. Would like them to take a flyer on Daniel Nieminen with our 5th rounder if he is still there Mobile two way D-man. Put up solid numbers in the under 20 SM sarja and on the international stage.
  13. Sorry, I didn't mean to hassle anyone. I thought it might have been my shitty computin skills at work again. If I had better access to sheets and info I would offer to help out. I almost quit the league, however this is a great bunch of people. Some GM's that are new to fantasy. Thanks to you and @Gator for all your work. Thanks to @Rick Blight for the work he put in running the draft.
  14. Yes, with the $5 mill I gave him for five years, he is probably smoking joints with a grammy of coke in them.
  15. Yes, I don't like insulting people, however they don't seem to be very intelligent when it comes to voting for the people that make crucial decisions that shape their lives. Those party lines are breaking down here in Aus. People are starting to wake up to the two major parties and are voting for independent or green candidates that represent how they want our society to be shaped. And the legacy we leave for our kids. These people hold the balance of power in the senate. Hopefully there is a bigger " teal wave " at the next election and they can hold the balance of power in the lower house.
  16. @Sabrefan1 I will preface this by stating that our two leaders, Dutton ( leader of the opposition) is a fucking moron, and Albo (PM) while being a decent human being and not a bad leader is not who I would personally choose to lead our country. However after watching a replay last night of that debate... Fuck me dead. To have to choose between a lying, corrupt, sexual offender, and a person that can barely string a few cogent thoughts together. If Biden doesn't back down and let someone, anyone else face off against Trump, then you guys are gonna get another four years of Dickcheese. And Planet America will keep on running for at least four more years on the ABC over here in Aus.
  17. There are a lot of potential difference makers on that list of players. Buium is gonna be a ripper. Fantasy wise I would have had to think hard before I took Celebrini before Buium. He is bloody good one on one as a D-man as well. I had him as the most complete D-man in the draft. High scoring, can play great defense. Can't believe he fell so far IRL. Betcha a few of GM's are gonna regret not taking him. I took Kempf in Nails league. Has the tools to be a starter. I thought I would mix things up and take Zarubin. He put his team on his back and won games on a shit team that should have lost, for the first half of the season. When he changed to a decent team he put up spectacular numbers Ziemer is a leader. Fucking works his ass off, leaves everything on the ice. One mock draft I perused had Burrows at 24 ! Wasn't even picked in the CFL or GML. People are saying this is not such a strong draft. I dunno about that. Anyway great draft Rick.
  18. I clicked on the free agent lists and the teams are basically empty of free agents. Does anyone have a link to a list ?
  19. Does this apply to picks we have already made ?
  20. The Flyers select Daniel Nieminen The D-man not the tender.
  21. The Detroit Redwings Front Office Budget for the 2024-25 season. Player Relations - $17,000,000 Minors - $30,000,000 Player Development - $8,000,000
  22. @canuck2xtreme Jesse Puljujarvi is showing on both the senior roster and minors.
  23. The Flyers select Kirill Zarubin
