  1. Crosby will retire as a Penguin and anyone that disagrees with this was clearly born in 5 months.
  2. That might not necessarily be the case given Couture’s age, cap hit, and term.
  3. #WhoSaysNo To San Jose: -Kuzmenko (5.5 million) -Myers (6 million) -non 1st round pick -B level prospect (11.5 million) To Vancouver -Couture (8 million) -Rutta (2.75 million) (10.75 million) Pettersson-Miller-Boeser Suter-Couture-Mikheyev Joshua-Bluegar-Garland Hoglander-Aman-Lafferty PDG Hughes-Hronek Zadorov-Soucy Cole-Rutta Juulsen Demko DeSmith -Rutta can play both sides and is a stay at home guy. Can further add to our PK. -That 2nd line of Couture, Suter, and Mikheyev would have three elite defensive players and could be a legit shut down line (with some half decent offensive potential).
  4. That’s one of the reasons why the Jenner rumour gave me a 4 inch erection. Yes, Jenner isn’t the greatest player in the world and is a little bit injury prone, but that acquisition cost would be very reasonable (in contrast, guys like Guentzel, Lindholm, and ErikssonEK would cost a boatload).
  5. I heard rumors that the asking price for Jenner was a 2024 1st, a 2nd rounder, and either a “B” level prospect or a 3rd rounder. @Viking
  6. For me, a guy like Boone Jenner is someone that qualifies as being “under the radar.” 3.7 million cap hit + signed long term + wouldn’t cost us any of Podkolzin, Lekkerimaki, or Willander. Jenner could help our PK, and his expectations to help kickstart the 2nd line wouldn’t be nearly as lofty.
  7. I feel like we are already stacked with #4-#7 calibre dmen in Myers, Cole, Zadorov, Soucy, and Juulsen. While all of these defensemen are more than capable of playing alongside Hughes or Hronek (incase of injury to one of Hughes/Hronek), I don’t think such a pairing would “tilt the ice” like Hughes-Hronek currently do. That’s why I think we need another #2A/#3 calibre guy so that we could still ice an elite defensive pairing just in case one of Hughes/Hronek got injured. In 2019 - many hockey pundits claimed that our team was too dependent on Jacob Markstrom. In 2024 - I would argue that our team would no longer be elite if Hughes got injured for an extended period of time. As a result, I would absolutely be willing to consider moving assets for a 2A/3 calibre dman. Maybe Chychrun would be overkill but perhaps Tanev could be had at a reasonable price?
  8. I just don’t think we should be acquiring forwards (unless the plan is to break up the Lotto line). Even Auston Matthews would be hard pressed to create a formidable second line with Mikheyev, Kuzmenko, Suter, and Hoglander as linemate options. On top of that, the Canucks are getting consistent secondary scoring despite their 2nd line impotence and so I don’t see a huge need in trying to acquire another top 6 forward. If it was up to me, I’d try and get a legit #2A/#3 calibre dman to insulate ourselves if Quinn Hughes were to get injured for a long period of time.
  9. I don’t doubt that Novak would excel with more offensive minutes. What I do doubt however is that Novak + any combination of Suter, Mikheyev, Hoglander, and Kuzmenko would be a formidable second line (and hence, making it somewhat unnecessary to acquire him).
  10. Got it. . Sorry I was in the middle of editing my previous post as you responded. I added a bit more thoughts.
  11. Why would we need another 3rd line center when we already have Suter, Bluegar, and a more than competent Nils Aman? I like Novak but would any combination of him, Mikheyev, Suter, or Kuzmenko really move the needle in terms of creating an offensively dangerous 2nd line?
  12. My line of thinking is that we already have Hronek + have Willander waiting in the wings. Chychrun can also play both sides.
  13. Aquilllini was the only man at fault. The President and GM should have been hired first, and then they should selected their own coach. Aqua put both Rutherford and Alvin in a very difficult spot.
  14. Acquiring a top tier second line player won’t do us any good because said player will have to play alongside two of Suter, Kuzmenko, Mikheyev, or Hoglander……which for a second line, is sub-par linemates. As a result, the Canucks would have to illogically break up the Lotto Line. Our 2nd line sucks but it’s not really a problem since all of our other current lines produce consistent offense. The Canucks’ real need is a #3/#2A defenseman that can form an elite pairing with Hronek on the top pairing just incase Hughes were to get injured. Jakob Chychrun is the guy we should target.
  15. rangers wouldn’t give us that for Petey, lol.
  16. I think I would seriously consider Myers + 2024 1st + Lekkerimaki. We already have Boeser as our sniper and we could always sign another sniper via UFA at a later date. The Canucks have had a great season but we still don’t know how they’d perform if they lost Quinn Hughes. My gut says that losing Hughes would immediately drop this team from contendership. Hence, we need that #2A/#3 guy that could mitigate a Hughes absence while still forming an elite pairing with Hronek.
  17. To Ottawa: Myers + ??? To Vancouver: Chychrun Pettersson-Miller-Boeser Mikheyev-Suter-Kuzmenko Joshua-Bluegar-Garland Hoglander-Aman-Lafferty Hughes-Hronek Chychrun-Soucy Cole-Juulsen Demko DeSmith The Rationale: 1. Although our 2nd line sucks, it’s not really a concerning issue since all of our other lines produce consistent offense. In other words, we are still getting secondary scoring beyond our 1st line. 2. The Canucks are protected incase there are injuries to any one of Pettersson, Miller, Boeser, Demko, or any of our 3rd line. Kuzmenko or Mikheyev would still keep our top line relatively “elite” if there was an injury to the Lotto line while Suter could fill in for anyone on the Bluegar, Garland, and Joshua line. Lafferty, Hoglander, Podkolzin, and Raty are capable of playing anywhere from the 2nd line to the 4th line. DeSmith is good enough to fill in for Demko (unlike that thespian Spencer Martin) 3. The Canucks’ only weakness is that they will no longer be an elite team if Quinn Hughes gets injured. . If QH goes down, we will not be in the same conversation as Winnipeg, Boston, Vegas, Colorado, Florida, etc. The reason is that all of Soucy, Cole, Zadorov, and Myers are #4 calibre dmen at best. We don’t have a true #3 or #2A. Hughes is a #1 and Hronek is a #2, but there is too big of a gap between Hronek and whoever is our 3rd best defenseman. Hence - I like the idea of bringing in Chychrun. Chych can anchor the 2nd line and also play with one of Hughes or Hronek incase of injury. Hughes-Chychrun Chychrun-Hronek So, getting back to my proposal, Myers + ???? gets you Chychrun?
  18. I remember watching Mayweather vs Pacquiao over there in 2015. Ditto for Cormier vs Jones part I. Also watched some playoff games between the Canucks and Flames when Michael Ferland was butt fucking our defensemen.
  19. I wouldn’t be one of those people by the way. You don’t seem to have understood my argument. My argument is not that “we need another defenseman.” We already have enough depth from #4-#7. My argument is that we need a legit #2A/#3 calibre defenseman since there is too big a drop off in talent between Hronek and whoever is our 3rd best defenseman. Soucy, Cole, Myers, and Zadorov are all #4 calibre dmen at best. While any of those guys could play with Hughes or Hronek in case of injury (to Hughes or Hronek), such a pairing would no longer be elite……and hence, ultimately resulting in a loss of a massive strength for us. So my argument is that if we brought in a guy like Chychrun per se, who could anchor that 3rd pairing, we could then elevate a guy like Chychrun to the top pairing and keep said top pairing “elite” even if one of Hughes or Hronek got injured. My ultimate argument is that the Canucks, at current, won’t be an elite team is Hughes gets injured. While we could work around any injuries to Pettersson, Miller, Boeser, and Demko, we would be significantly hampered if we lost Hughes for an extended period of time. While our 2nd line of Suter, Mikheyev, and Kuzmenko sucks, it’s not too big of a deal because all of our other lines consistently produce offense.
  20. Wayne Gretzky’s sports bar is pretty good. A little bit southwest of Yonge and Queens if I recall correctly. They serve pierogies! I built up the courage to talk to a 190 lbs woman but got rejected unfortunately.
  21. Sign Reinhart to a Bo Horvat type deal and then trade Pettersson for massive picks and prospects to solidly our future. :WAT: !!!!!!
  22. Does Lekkerimaki and Willander get you Mason McTavish? [FYI - I wouldn’t do this, just pondering outloud].
