  1. For some reason, I thought he’d been a healthy scratch numerous times this season.
  2. edit - I’ve re-edited this post and idea. For me original proposal, see below. My new idea is that the Canucks should target either Anaheim’s Ross Johnston or Montreal’s Arber Xhekaj. ——————————————————— To Canucks: Nicolas Deslauriers To Flyers: low draft pick (and/or PDG?) Although the game of hockey has evolved as far as fighting goes, I believe that it’s still necessary to have an enforcer come playoff time so that opponents will think twice about runs at star players. Or do I need to remind everyone of 2011 Boston, 2015 Ferland, and even Reaves 2020?
  3. To Buffalo: Pettersson + Myers. (Petey's deal = sign and trade) + (draft pick). To Vancouver: Tage Thompson vs. Owen Power Buffalo probably says no. My logic behind this is that the Canucks bring in two players that are signed long term to a good AAV.
  4. I think we go 3-4. We lose to one of Buffalo or Columbus but manage to get 1-2 unexpected victories.
  5. Whoever created this rumour probably only took 5 months to be born.
  6. Happy belated New Years from Hong Kong! The previous video that I posted was from Victoria Harbour by the way. The backstory here is that I had to stand in that spot for 7.5 hours! (3 of which I needed to go to the bathroom, lol.). Celebrating New Years at a famous landmark was on my bucket list of things to do and so I’m glad I got to experience it. The energy of the crowd was also great! Now having said that, I’m never going through that again, haha. IMG_1110.mov
  7. Fair enough. To be fair to my original proposal however, I’d only do something around Myers and Lindholm with the assumption that Lindholm would be a rental. 001_WC-EditVideo_1.mp4
  8. My only issue is that we’d take a significant hit with our center depth if Pettersson wasn’t replaced. We’d definitely need a good center to come back.
  9. To Calgary: Elias Pettersson To Vancouver: Elias Lindholm + Rasmus Andersson
  10. I hear you on Tanev. He’s also someone I’d target depending on the price. Andersson would cost an arm and a leg since he’s signed for multiple years and has an excellent cap hit relative to the value he brings. I don’t think Calgary will ever give him up because they’d be short on RD’s if Tanev left at the end of the year.
  11. The simple answer is “you don’t” (unless negotiations with Petey go awry to which case, as a contingency, you sign Lindholm long term). The primary purpose for signing Lindholm would be to make a run for this year’s playoffs. Re-unite the lotto line (giving Petey all the help that he needs), and then dominate opponents with our 4 lines. Lindholm would also help us with our PK. By reuniting the lotto line, it also helps Kuzmenko get going. He would have an excellent defensive minded center in Lindholm, and wouldn’t have to go up against the top lines of other teams (leave that for the lotto line). Kuzmenko could then rediscover his scoring touch on the 2nd line. That bottom 6 would arguably be the best in the league and many of those guys could kill penalties for us (which would obviously our scorers more well rested).
  12. I’ll officially add my offer to the original post: To Vancouver: Elias Lindholm To Calgary: Tyler Myers, Vasili Podkolzin, 2024 1st, 2024 2nd.
  13. The pressure will be on Alvin for sure but he has to use good judgment. I agree with @IBatch that Pettersson is probably worth $10.5 million. If he’s asking for more than that however, it starts to become an issue of, “would we be able to surround our top players with the necessary depth to be a long term cup winner?” If teams like Edmonton and Toronto are of any indication, the answer is “no.” Look at the cup winners over the past 13 years and you’ll notice that the cup winning teams all had their top players on below market value cap hits.
  14. Sorry I should have clarified: My idea behind acquiring Lindholm would for rental purposes only. Both Lindholm and Myers are UFA’s at the end of the season and so I figured a package could be built around these two guys. I would only attempt to sign Lindholm long term IF negotiations with Pettersson do not go well (which likely won’t happen but you never know). Signing both Pettersson and Lindholm long term would be impossible however since we’d be up against the cap (OEL buyout penalty will hit its peak in the coming seasons).
  15. With Zad however, his cap hit was perceived to be higher than his actual value around the league (we were able to acquire him for a low price since we were the only team willing to absorb the entire cap). With Andersson, we won’t have such luck since Rasmus has one of the best contracts (relative to his overall value) in the league. Andersson will cost a boatload.
  16. Exactly. Especially when you consider the fact that he’s signed for multiple years at a good cap hit. I also can’t see the Flames moving him since Tanev will likely be gone after this year.
  17. I would also prefer this method. I’m just spitballing an idea since many folks on this board feel like we should be quite aggressive at the deadline this year.
  18. My guess is that both Lindholm and Myers would rentals in this case. Calgary would only take on Myers’ salary so that we could accommodate Lindholm’s salary (which would then allow the Flames to take some good prospects). Lindholm would be a rental but could also serve as a contingency plan just in case negotiations with Pettersson do not go well?
  19. It would cost atleast Lekkerimaki at minimum. Cap wise, Myers is actually more expensive than Lindholm (6 million vs 4.8) and so Calgary I’m guessing it would cost us Lekkerimaki and Hunter B at minimum. I really don’t know though.
  20. A week or so ago, an Interdivisional blockbuster deal was suggested on here that would see Kuzmenko, Raty, and a 1st go to Calgary for Elias Lindholm. I have a different spin however: (updated proposal) To Vancouver: Elias Lindholm To Calgary: Tyler Myers, Vasili Podkolzin, 2024 1st, 2024 2nd. With Lindholm in the line up, here is how I would suggest we do our lines. Miller-Pettersson-Boeser Mikheyev-Lindholm-Kuzmenko Joshua-Bluegar-Garland Hoglander-Suter-Lafferty PDG Hughes-Hronek Zadorov-Soucy Cole-Juulsen Wolanin Demko DeSmith Under this set-up, we’d see the return of the “Lotto” line. Miller helps with the forecheck, creates space, and helps with face-offs. Most importantly, Pettersson get high quality linemates to get him going again. Lindholm then takes Petey‘s place on the Russian line which allows for Kuzmenko to still play with an offensively gifted center. Our bottom 6 would speak for itself. That would likely be the best bottom 6 in the league. Lindholm would be a rental for us but could also serve as a long term contingency plan if negotiations with Pettersson do not go well.
  21. Thank you for pointing this out as I was unaware of this. If that's the case, then it might be better to stay away? (unless Tocchet specifically encourages him to play like that?). Is it old age why VT no longer plays like that or is it the system in Ottawa?
  22. I hope you're right but unfortunately, I just see his value going down from here. Kuzmenko doesn't seem like he wants to forecheck whereas Tarasenko, when healthy, does it fairly well. I would just do the deal one for one. From a cap perspective, Tarasenko coming off the books at the end of the year would help the Canucks a lot. And IF Tarasenko finds his old game, putting him with one of Petey or Miller could be "BOOM goes the dynamite."
