  2. Unfortunately, I'm not sure if I see that happening. *Maybe* you can get Petey at around 9.5 million but even that's being optimistic. For Pettersson, I think you're looking at around 10.5-11 million at minimum. Hope I'm wrong.
  3. You mean Tom Wilson right? My only concern with Wilson is that his contract isn't going to age very well. Normally, players with such a physical style tend to go into decline a little bit earlier than most. I could see Wilson's contract being an albatross in his last 3 years or so. Maybe even 4.
  4. Edit - revised proposal (changed from Kuzmenko to Mikheyev). To New Jersey: Ilya Mikheyev + Tyler Myers To Vancouver: Timo Meier + Colin Miller The cap difference is quite negligible and so it should work from a cap perspective. Colin Miller and Tyler Myers would be a wash (i.e. decent bottom pairing defensemen that can fill in as a #4 when a team has injuries). Coming to the Canucks would be Timo Meier. Meier, for whatever reason, hasn't quite found his footing in New Jersey. When he's on his game however, he's a bonafide Top 6 player that can play the body and be a physical presence. While Meier does carry a hefty and long term contract ($8.8 million for the next 8 years), he's still relatively young and could be a good long term player for us.
  5. Very interesting points about Brock and Toffoli. At the time, I wasn't quite sure as to why we proceed forward with Boeser instead of TT but your post above is an excellent explanation. Management must have seen the same thing at the time.
  6. True but he's also a fair bit more expensive than Juulsen as well ($4.05 million dollar cap hit). So essentially, you'd have Hughes-Hronek Cole-Zadorov Soucy-[Jensen/Myers] As your defense with one of Jensen or Myers being the 7th man under a fully healthy roster. I get that depth is important, and that having all of your defenseman healthy is a rarity, but that seems like too much of an over-allocation of resources to me (i.e. paying $4.05M for a 7th defenseman.......or 6 million if Myers would be your #7). Once Soucy comes back from injury, the Canucks will be up against the cap anyways so would they even be able to afford Jensen?
  7. Jensen would be 'ok' I guess but I don't think he'd really move the needle much. Would be a nice depth piece in case of injuries but with Juulsen playing much better lately, it seems like we already have that.
  8. After thinking about this thread a bit more, along with reading the views of many that have participated in this thread, I think I'll have to change my vote (i.e. Keep Brock instead of moving on).
  9. Hoglander, Soucy (welcome back!), and a 1st? I'd pass if that was the deal.
  10. Good point but I think the Canucks would need to be careful if they ever moved DeSmith. Demko is a great goalie but history has shown that he tends to get injured when overworked........and we all saw what happened with Spencer Martin last season
  11. Maybe Kuzmenko for Anderson? Kuzmenko isn't huge, but he is 5'11. If Kuz regains his form from last season, him and Caulfield could definitely work some magic.
  12. I'm wondering if this could be a possibility given Anderson's struggle's this season?
  13. Personally, I'd rather choose Larsson over Pesce due to the term and money (i.e. reasonably strong possibility of Willander being able to replace Larsson once Larsson's contract expires). We could then comfortable walk away from Larsson. That Pesce contract could get ugly a few years down the road. Our nerdish media would probably start coming up with the lame joke, "Hey boys, is that Bret Pesce or Joe Pesci? lololol" As far as Garland goes, the only PWF that we might be able to get for Garland is Josh Anderson. At least that's who comes to mind. Any semen related dreams for Tom Wilson needs to be put to rest unfortunately.
  14. You might have answered your own question. Barring a significant overpayment on both term and money from us (keeping in mind that Pesce will be 30 when the new contract kicks in), it seems like Pesce definitely has a preference to stay on the East Coast.
  15. Maybe, but what would be the purpose of acquiring him? (given the significant assets that we'd need to give up for him). If it's just for this year, would it really be worth it? Would Pesce put us on the same level as the NYR's, Vegas', and Colorado's of the league? I'm not so sure. If it's for the long term, then I re-iterate, Pesce is going to want significant term and money if he's going to stay in Vancouver. Given what his age will be when his new contract kicks in (30), do you think that contract will age well? I'm not so sure.. Also, with Hronek here, and Willander on his way, will we really need Pesce here for the long term?
  16. Thank you for clarifying this. I didn't realize that this was the structure.
  17. This is an excellent selling point and reason for seriously considering Larsson. I'd be interested, depending on the acquisition cost.
  18. Why is Detroit shopping him given all of his positive attributes?
  19. I don't understand the Pesce desire. For one, it would cost significant assets to acquire him. Secondly, when he signs his new contract as a 30 year old man, it will probably take significant term and money to convince him to stay in Vancouver (i.e. unlike Carolina, a place like Vancouver has much higher taxes, and a much more brutal travel schedule, etc.). Pesce grew up in New York and has been on the East Coast his whole life.
  20. I think Kuzmenko would flourish in a "run and gun" system like Edmonton has. I would strongly consider Kuzmenko for Evander Kane but I don't think Edmonton accepts.
